Car Will Not Start Problems of Ford C-max

Electrical gremlins since the first day. Touchscreen went on and off, phone didn't charge, door handles don't work, garage door opener forgot settings, presets on dash would blink out of memory. Ultimately the car didn't even start. But for all of these problems, sometimes they would work, sometimes they wouldn't. Ultimately got the yellow wrench of death. Brought it in repeatedly and they could never reproduce the problem, until the day it wouldn't start at all and the wrench was on the dash. Finally diagnosed open seams on the back hinges to the hatch. Seamseal was missing on both hinges. Water was coming into the junction box which was soaked. The battery was sitting in a pool of water. These problems happened whether it was parked or running.

Since I purchased the 2013 c max there has been an ongoing problem. It starts with the clock, time is wrong. Next the radio will not work unable to shut it off, change volume basically nothing works. After a day or 2 the car will not start, no power. Once we jump start the car everything will be ok until the next time. Currently radio is not working again and now engine light is on and I am getting a warning to pull over safely now. It took multiple times to try to shut vehicle off. Ford tells me �we never heard of this�. They want $500. 00 dollars to just diagnose the problem. This is insane because it is not the first time we had the vehicle in for the clock, radio and dead battery. What had to happen before this gets fixed? a serious accident? I read all the comments on here and it looks like that this is an ongoing problem! Ford needs to fix this problem !.

On November 26, 2019, pressed the "start engine" button. Dashboard flashed with check-engine, service wrench, and "stop safely now" indicators; car energized but would not engage in drive mode. Attempted to turn the car off but it would not. Fan motor began blowing although never selected. After several minutes, was able to turn car off. After several more minutes I was able to start the car and get home (approx. 2 miles). Could not get car to start for several days. Managed to get car started and bring to repair facility (carmax); they could not get started and had car towed to felix sabates Ford dealership. After about a week they indicated they reprogrammed battery modules and fixed problem; they returned car to repair facility. Went to pick up and exact same sequence occurred; car would energize but could not engage in drive mode and I could not turn off (12/10). Car was towed back to Ford dealer; 2 weeks later car was "fixed" and returned to carmax 12/23/19. Carmax could not start car. See NHTSA issue 11016422,10846313, 10783553,10633639 with similar issues. What happens to me when I'm on the interstate a 70mph and the car shuts off?.

Bought the car in may 2017. No problems until October 2019 car didn't crank everything dead. Took it to one dealer and they laughed at me. They replaced the 12v still didn't run. Had it towed to riverside Ford October 2019. They worked on it didn't get the car back until Dec 13, 2109. Paid the bill in full. And drove the car home. Two weeks ago. Dead again. My car is sitting in my yard because I can't afford to take it back to riverside Ford or any other dealer to be fixed. What can I do now?.

Car will not start after being parked. Automatic door opener does not work to open car. Only valet key will open car. All electrical systems are dead, this has happened more than 10 times since I purchased the car in 2014. Supposedly this problem has been repaired by the dealership each time by replacing the battery, replacing relay systems, etc. But it continues to recur. There is no pattern to its occurrence but is well known to fmc.

I drive with my cmax energi approximately 10 miles with in winter with heat set to 68f. Parked at destination and restarted approximately 2 hours after. While in transit to destination an orange wrench displayed on vehicle. No issue occurred. Upon restarting a red triangle along with wrench displayed upon attempting to start. The vehicle did not start. I had it towed to dealership.

Car would not start. All electrical functions not working. This is the 2nd time in 9 month this has occurred. Both times the car had to be jump started. The dealer said that the car is not driven enough in gasoline mode so the battery becomes drained and needs to be recharged. Dealer claims there is no other reason for this happening. I have noticed that other people have reported the same problem on this website. Isn't the purpose of buying a hybrid vehicle to save fuel and drive in hybrid mode as much as possible? this situation makes the car extremely unreliable. Please help find the reason.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The battery was replaced, but the failure recurred three weeks later. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however; the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

1st incident the vehicle completely died while I was doing 50mph down a 5 lane road. All electrical went out while I was driving. Lost my power steering and braking was extremely difficult. Had to have the vehicle towed as it would not re-start. 2nd time about two weeks after getting the car "fixed" the vehicle died while I was driving on i75 with same scenario. I was able to pull over on shoulder and had to have the vehicle towed in. 3rd time after getting the "fixed" vehicle back the radio went out, then the clock went wacky, the check engine light came on and when off. Then while running errands the car simply did not restart. No power to the dash, locks, etc. Had to have it towed in. Took the vehicle back again and the 4th time after driving an 1 1/2 hours to work the vehicle would not restart without being jump started. I had it towed to the dealer again and they cannot find anything wrong with it and I am being forced to take back a brand new 2014 Ford cmax energi with 4400 miles on it that keeps dying every week. I do not feel safe nor do I want the vehicle any longer. Ford has not yet sent any special assistance to the dealer to help rectify the problem.
