Tail Light problems of the 1996 Ford Contour

Three problems related to tail light have been reported for the 1996 Ford Contour. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tail Light problem

Failure Date: 12/15/1998

The worst problem was the wheel falling off while in operation, with no warning. The axil, rotor, and balljoint was replaced. The heating and cooling is all messed up. The fan will only blow on low, it is niether hot nor cold. The tail lights and panel lights do not work. It's not a fuse.

2 Tail Light problem

Failure Date: 09/30/1998

Headlight switch circuit is severely overheating, causing the switch harness to burn and the switch to fail. Also, while driving at night the tail lights/dash lights failed.

3 Tail Light problem

Consumer stated that tail lights were inoperative, consumer's received safety recall 99s14 regarding tail light failure, consumer took vehicle and recall notice to dealership, dealership was reluctant to honor recall, after speaking with management,dealership finally honored recall, when consumer returned home with vehicle, they noticed a leak which resulted in recall repair.
