Body Problems of Ford Contour

Rear frame, suspension rusted completely into an went out of control and threw me into ditch. This is completely not acceptable. I have 1960's cars %100 better than this . I know this is a 1999 but this is completely unacceptable. Can anything be done.

I had just got on interstate when my car started cutting out. I immediately put my flashers on & tried to get in the left lane so I could get on shoulder of interstate but cars would not allow me to get over. My car died in middle of interstate. I called ASAP (a service in alabama for help on the interstate) & told them where I was & I needed them to bring me some gas. Then a car came flying up behind me but was able to stop & did not hit me. Then the car behind him had stopped but a truck behind her was not able to stop. He hit her, she hit the man behind me and he hit me. Paramedics were called for a 4 year old in the womans car who said his head hurt. I could have been killed if the car behind me had hit me and turned my car sideways & was hit on the side by another car, because everyone was driving way too fast and did not acknowledge my flashers at all. They would fly past me blowing their horns. Did they think I was stopped on purpose? believe me if I could have made the car go I would have. This car does this sometimes when on a 1/4 tank of gas, and since this accident it has gotten worse. Now it does it on 3/4 tank. I do not get on interstate anymore. No one seems to be able to find out why these cars do this.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford Contour. The contact was driving 15 mph when the vehicle started to sway from side to side and exhibited a loud, abnormal noise. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the rear sub-frame was completely corroded and advised the contact to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 107,000.

Dashboard separated from the windshield. Consumer contacted dealer, no help offered.

A recall was issued on dashboard separating from the instrument panel. Manufacturer stated that the recall expired, and consumer was never notified since they were not in the database. Several months ago the dashboard began to raise and separate from the anchorage points which caused some instrument panel warpage and visibility problems.

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning dashboard is peeling, and the vents are falling onto the floor.

My Ford Contour (2000) dash is bending up where the defroster vent is. It has warped at least an inch above normal height. The Ford company refuses to stand behind its vechicles and fix the dash. I have received horrible customer service from them and decided to never buy another Ford.

1999 Ford Contour. Dasboard is coming apart from the windsheild and at the bottom where the light switches are located.

Screw for driver side sunvisor fell off while vehicle was in motion, causing blocked vision totally. The driver side visor fell off twice. The second fall shorted electrical wires causing radio, clock and other components to fail.

Said car had defects almost as soon as we purchased it, we noticed it had 2 different emblams on the fenders and they had to run the VIN# so they could find out which it was. The car started leaking within 6 months of purchase, they worked on it 3 times to no prevail(still leaks) the dash has bowed up at the windshield and at the panel behind the steering wheel, instrument panel has smoked up, heater switch only works on high setting, pass. Side front window fell out of door track while going down the highway, speaker busted, carpet ruined because of leaks. Blancetts had all of these parts ordered for over 6 months and they still did not get all of them in, an d Ford motor company has closed them down. I don't know the specifics of the reasons for closing them, but they had trouble once or twice with getting cars and trucks with mileage rollback problems.

The dealership had installed an aftermarket rear spoiler on the vehicle without disclosing this information. After having problems with the third brake light in the spoiler in learned it was not a factory part. The dealership stated to me that it was factory. I was not able to get the part replaced until I called Ford directly and threatened to sue the dealership for fraud.

The paint above the windshield started to crack. * mr the consumer felt the window may separate from the structure and the roof may rust. Scc.

While driving through a puddle and turning a corner, water was sprayed into the engine compartment and disabled the power steering. Luckily there was no one at the corner or I would have hit them, with the sudden loss of steering. Ford has a TSB, but this is a life-safety issue.

Body contains tiny rust spots all over it. The vehicle has been waxed three times since purchased. One spot has completely rusted down to the metal. Located on the top portion of the right rear door. Vehicle has an extended warranty until 3yrs/75000 miles.

Water leakage through the driver's door and through the trunk. Vehicle has been in dealership for repairs (14) times, replacing different components with no change in condition. Please describe details.
