My headlights will just go out. The parking light and rear light stay on. The headlight will go out and some times for the whole ride. Then sometime they will stay on for the ride. When the lights go out you have to use the passing high beams. I called the dealer and told him over the phone what was happening and he told me what the problem was without even looking at the car. He stated he knew what it was because it happens all the. I feel this is a safety issue that should be addressed. I was told it would cost $342. 00 to fix.

Headlights turned off while driving at night. Refer to the following: NHTSA action number: n/a NHTSA recall campaign number: pe08066 n/a make: Ford model: Crown Victoria manufacturer : Ford motor company year : 2005 component : exterior lighting:headlights Ford found that some lighting control modules (lcm) in the subject vehicles contained defective solder joints on the printed circuit board. This condition can lead to poor headlight performance ranging from intermittent outage and dimming to eventual headlights failure. The failure does not affect other lighting functions (park, emergency flasher, brake and flash to pass lights).
Occasionally the headlights go out while driving. They will come back on after a while but there is no rhyme or reason as to when they will go off or come back on. So far it has happened to me about once a week. It is hard to check what is causing the problem but investigation has shown that numerous cars have been fixed by replacing the lighting control module. However it is quite expensive and Ford refuses to recognize the severity of the problem. The running lights stay on but the headlights go out. I almost hit a parked car at forty m. P. H.

I recently began having headlight trouble when my headlights started to shut off while I was driving. I own a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria I still had my dash lights and tail lights working. Apparently it is some sort of design flaw in the lcm and it only applies to the low beams and constant on high beam function. The flash to pass function will still work though when it was malfunctioning. It seems to be on the lcm or lighting control module.
