2 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

This was a police interceptor vehicle traveling at a speed of between 55 and 60mph. The right front wheel bearing had seized up and burnt the tire down until it blew, causing the vehicle to swerve into the ditch. Luckily the driver is okay and there was nobody on the shoulder of the road.

Failure Date: 07/05/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph he heard a loud rattling noise. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who advised him that the right rear wheel bearing and axle fractured and needed to be replaced. The wheel bearing and axle were repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. In approximately two weeks, he began to hear the same rattling noises again. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic who advised him that the left rear bearing and axle had fractured as well and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. The VIN was unavailable.

4 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2003 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. While driving 25 mph or greater, the contact heard a rumbling noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. As of November 20, 2007, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and he stated that the passenger side rear wheel bearing caused the failure. The mechanic replaced the rear axle, bearings, and oil seal. The dealer stated that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 04v328000 (suspension: rear). : the contact stated there was a humming noise coming from the rear axle differential area. The sound began at 30 mph and continued up to 65 mph. Updated 9/1/2006 - sears repalced the right rear wheel bearing but that did not fix the problem. The dealer diagnosed the problem as possible spider gear or carrier bearing failure.
