The contact owns a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria. When the contact deactivates the windshield wipers, they will not completely return to the off position. The wipers remained upright on the windshield. The defect began sporadically, but now occurs whenever the wipers are activated. The dealer stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign id number 00v138000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer). The dealer stated that the VIN was excluded from the recall and nothing could be done. The failure and current mileages were 84,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria. When the contact started the ignition it activated the the windshield washer fluid. Suddenly, the front windshield wipers were activated to clear any excess washer fluid; however, the windshield wipers were inoperative. There were several attempts before the windshield wipers became functional. The windshield wiper control selector failed to disengage the windshield wiper system until the engine was turned off. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three separate occasions for the identical failures. The technician replaced the control switch twice and the motor on a separate occasion. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was unknown. Windshield wipers failed durning heavy rain. Ford dealer could not locate cause of failure as wipers started to work again after car sat idle for 15 minutes in Ford serivice bay. Ford dealer said they could only correct if they failed and stayed broken. Not good adivice when your driving 65 miles on an interstate in heavy rain. I think this is a mojor safty item. You have to be able to see.
Windshield wiper on driver's side is jumping across windshield intermittently when used. Vehicle been in and out of dealer shop on five occasions, and problem still reoccurring. Consumer is waiting to hear from the dispute settlement board.
Windshield wipers fails to work properly when in use. Windshieldwipers stopped working in middle of a downpour. Had to stop vehicle & get out & jiggle wipers to get them working again. This caused havoc with the driver's visibilit. Will be taking vehicle to dealer to have them check it.
