When I bought my car on [xxx] I drove it home from hooksett nh from alfa car dealership tire pressure light came on battery light and the check engine light all came on and when I stopped and turned the car off all lights went off. I owned the car for two days and all of a sudden my car would not start it was fine went to drop my dog off and the car wouldn't start for a few hours this happened. When driving white smoke came out of the rear and I had an oil in the car. The car completely dies in the middle of the road and doesn't start all the oil is gone and there is a hole through my engine. 1. No dealership will not help in any way 2. Yes mine and many more on the road 3 yes I called the dealership and they want me to pay 200 dollars for a warranty 4 yes a mechanic looked at it when I was on the side of the road 5. No 6 no lights and nothing showed me any signs information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Smoke coming from the hood don't know what cause the fire over the engine don't know what the part is called but it started a fire under the hood while driving what have cause the smoke under the hood and now the car doesn't start.
The ptu have a severe problem and the computer didn't warn for this problem until the car just stop getting out of the freeway, slowing down and making loud noises under also stop complity at the street and a car behind me almost crashed in my back, I tried to switch from drive to park and didn't move then I tried the reverse and make a loud sound then I put in drive and star advancing very slowly and with loud noise, finally I got home and smoke staring coming in the front driver side and the smell was a burning rubber. After I got out and let the car to cool down I tried to drive in reverse but the reverse didn't work, only from drive and l gear, I parked my car with the front end facing my home, I can't drive it it all.
The car loses power, tool light pops up when I'm driving I can't see speed I'm going. Turn the car off and everything resets. This has happened twice. Very dangerous when you are on the highway.
Driving going about 50 mph on county highway. Starting losing all power to vehicle, with a vehicle behind me also going at least 50 mph. Put hazard lights on right away, made it to a drive way and lights were diming, no power, engine light came on. When trying to excel speed, there was none. Took to auto shop to find out that it is the power control module. Seems like this is a frequent problem and needs there needs to be a recall on this.
While traveling from work to home had a lost of power and started making noise upfront so pulled over and checked everything and it was fine fluids checked regularly and was told it could be a ptu problem and it has the jerking and sometimes you hear a chain noise and sounds like a slapping sound. Has something leaking up by tranny pretty sure its the ptu cause that's exactly where's it's located and have read lots of things online and everything. Their should really be recall for the ptu unit before someone majorly gets hurt cause of the loss of power all of sudden when traveling. Was traveling highway home.
Vehicle was in motion for awhile, car was running okay until I came to a stoplight and then all of a sudden my car goes limp. My vehicle makes loud/hard clank noise. Loss of power, wrench light came on. Pulled over, loud/hard clank sound with every gear change p-2. Vehicle had displayed no issues prior to this. I am able to pull the car over, turn it off and take they key out of the ignition. Then the wrench light is off when I restart the car. Stays in low gear for a long time when I start to accelerate, and until vehicle eventually accelerates faster, other cars almost running into the back of my car since my car is not accelerating at a normal pace. I am greatly concerned about what appears to be a huge safety issue with this car. There are multiple complaints about the same issue to be found all over the internet. Ford needs to issue a recall and fix this ASAP before someone gets seriously hurt or is killed from the extreme loss of power the vehicle is suffering from when this occurs!.
Fuel leak and major water corrosion to undercarriage of car. Tried to get wheel barrings done and was told it would have to be welded off and on. I am still paying on this car and it is unsafe. They priced this car at 10000 with finance charge when I was told the car was 6500 I put 1500 down plus 746 make up downpayment. I have still been paying on it and I do not believe I should be because it cant be worth that much if this was a flood car. The car make a loud grinding noise which is the wheel barring but cannot be easily fixed. And will cost me alot of money while im still paying.
The vehicle was always running kind of rough and shifting kind of hard reverse would not with bang and in gears on the freeway but then the check engine light came on and I took it and had it put on an odb reader it said p0353 ignition coil c so I had that replaced along with the spark plugs all six of them and it did not clear the code driving down the street all of a sudden the battery light came on and the car just died I had it brought to repair shop they put it on the scanner it read ignition coil a b c d e f. So I got an ignition coil pack which consisted of 6 ignition coils and 6 more spark plugs brand new and had those installed and now the car won't start and I checked the fuses several relays are blown and it keeps popping fuses and there's a draw on the battery which I had to remove the battery and buy a new one because my reverse lights just just the reverse lights were on when my car wasn't even on or he was not in the ignition and it was not in any power for any light source position.
I bought my car a few years ago from a used car lot. I have had problems ever since. My breaks keep going, my transmission is slipping and the trimming around my windshield is falling out. I'm afraid the windshield is going to fly off. All I keep seeing ate problems with this car.
The first time it happened a month ago, it was a similar issue that resolved itself within about 10 minutes. But the second time it happened 7 days ago, it lasted longer and unfortunately I had my 14 month old in the car. I was puling out of a parking space one late afternoon and proceeded to drive forward and noticed that it was reving very loudly even though it was barely moving. Whenever I would come to a light and stop or slow down to turn and then try to increase my speed I noticed that it would be reving so loudly and barely moving at first, but then after about 10 seconds it would start to move a little faster - but not as fast as it usually moves when I put the same amount of pressure on the gas pedal. I also noticed along the way that my spedometeer was not moving. It was stuck on 0mph the whole time. Then about 5 minutes into this horror, the wrench light came on and althoughh I had my seatbelt on and I had no front passenger, the setbelt light came on too. I managed to pull the car over near my home and moved into a space in front of a neighbor's house. When I went to back up and correct my parking the car made such a loud clunk sound. I then turned off the car and right then a message flashed on the dash board about 'check tire pressure' or something like that. But my tires were perfectly and properly inflated. The first incident shook me a little but it was only me in the car and I thought that maybe, (although unlikely), I made a mistake and was using the wrong gear to manuver. But after this second incident (especially with my baby in the car) I have not touched the car since. I bought it as a family vehicle, and if it could lead to me or my family being killed on the road, there is no point. I thank god that I avoid highways because I could not have imagined what would have happened if I was on a highway when this happened.
My transmission is about to blow soon. I have a low income and doubt my ability to pay for a replacement. I wouldn't be writing this though if I was the only one being affected by it. After searching through forums and reviews, it would seem many people are suffering from the same issue. While in motion, the vehicle will skip gears and rev up while I'm slowing down. I'm not sure what to do at this point. It seems to be getting worse and worse. Any help or insight would be highly appreciated.
Master cylinder problem causing weak brakes on 2007 Ford Edge sel requiring master cylinder replacement.
2007 Ford Edge transmission jolts after deceleration and pushing the gas again. This sometimes also is followed by sluggish behavior. Ford just keeps not finding nothing "wrong" even after inspection, replaced parts, and video of the events taking place. There are thousands of reports of similar issues online. Sounds like Ford needs a recall bad on the transmission issues! this event happens all the time. The throttle position sensor has been replaced. Ford says no problems exist.
Hissing noise. Feels like I have no power breaks. They said my break booster is out.
My car was parked in a parking garage to go to the gym for an hour. I come back to find the quarter window (truck side window) on the drivers side shattered for no reason at all. I made an insurance claim, but I still have to pay $500. 00 out of pocket for something that Ford should pay for.
Have had to replace rear wheel bearing assemblies multiples times on 2007 Ford Edge. Big safety issue.
Takata recall I have been informed that my vehicle is no longer safe to drive while some one is in the passenger seat. If deployed metal fragments-to be expelled causing serious injury or death. I called Ford to see if they might have a temporary solution reguarding this hazardous recall, since the possible replacement will not become available until the spring of 2018, the representative could not provide me with an answer. According to the rep Ford is not responsible. This airbag inflator is a huge problem in my life and I would have liked if they had rentals for the duration of this issue. Not only is it a hazard for the owner and my family but it is unethical for Ford company not to consider what could happen to the people who own defective vehicles. I own this Ford and have a family of five. I don't have other means to travel and take kids to school, soccer, and softball. This vehicle is our only way to be where we have to be. Ford is wrong for putting us out and putting my familys lives jeopardy.
My car door is closed and my car will tell me that my door car is open when it's not. It leaves my lights on all night and it drains my battery. It also leave my door unlock since it thinks my door is open.
Sometimes when I stop at a red light or stop sign for an extended period I can smell exhaust fumes in the cabin of the Edge. Not every single time. But fairly regular.
Start the car push on brake and try to move the shifter and nothing happens. As soon as I do that traction light comessage on. Still will not come out of park.
Drives fine and that at times acts as if it is stuck in gear or neutral. I bought the car as a certified pre-owned and within one year had total transmission failure. Warranty company replaced, and now the transmission is acting as if it is stuck in gear inconsistently. Sometimes it drive perfect and then when I am drive around town it acts as if it is stuck in gear.
I filed the original complaint (10680995) on February 3rd, but I wanted to edit or update it, but couldnâ´t find the way, so I am taking the liberty to post a new one. It has been 2 and a half months since the incident and as a disgrace it has not been possible for the Ford dealer in central America to get the computer module part. Can you imagine this amount of time without your vehicle, specially if it is your working tool? the following was my statement in the first report: "I have a 2007 Ford Edge with very low mileage to date. This is usually my family car, driven by my wife. We live in guatemala and drove to a house on the beach, that is about 100 miles away. On January first when we were returning I started the car and noticed a shake and sputter, and I thought that it was probably a defictive spark plug. I managed to drive out of where we were and as soon as we got to the main highway I had to stop and call for a tow. The shaking and sputtering were frightening. The shop I took it to says that at least 3 ignition coils need to be replaced and are not sure if the pcm also has to be replaced. Unfortunately, since there are parts stock problem here, I had to wait almost a month to get the parts and now that I have them (the coils) I still have to wait to see what the real problem is. I have contacted the dealer in the region to see what can be done. I had to report this as it is not a unique problem tobuyers in the us, also abroad". So far, I do not know when the part will be available. Last Friday it was still in cackorder in the Ford plant, or so they say. I donâ´t know either how much is going to cost, but at this rate I just want to get rid of that piece of junk. I have provided a florida contact as there is no access to other countries.
My car started to drive "rough" and later that day I called the Ford dealership to have it serviced. While there were no light indicators off on the dash they said to go ahead and bring it in on Monday to be looked at. Sunday night while driving the vehicle to the dealership, it just died. Again, no lights indicating something was wrong, it had just not been driving smoothly. After having it towed to the dealership, the next day we were contacted to let us know that the vehicle's pcm had shorted and melted the plugs, intake values, coils, battery and catalytic converter. We have always had this vehicle serviced by this dealer and had all of our recommended and / or required service / maintenance preformed. Which is why it is so vexing that something that is not a serviceable item and has no notification can not only go out but take so many components with them. I of course contacted Ford who said that it is not on a recall list and there was nothing they could do for me. I am contacting the NHTSA for their consideration of this item. Thank you.
I have had an ongoing problem with the wrench looking light coming on then the vehicle loses power. When I push the gas you have to push the gas pedal all the way down to get it to creep to go to the side of the road. I have to pull over and shut the vehicle off when it restarts then the vehicle will go. This last time the vehicle got me stranded on the side of the road for 2. 5 hours until the tow truck got there and towed it to the dealership. The dealer started it two days late and everything was fine. I had it to the shop previously to try and get this diagnosed and they could not find the problem. I have read hundreds of complaints involving the same thing. Ford should look at what is causing this problem and open a claim to take care of these issues.
I was turning a corner slowly when the car halted abruptly and slid slightly on the gravel road. I was surprised and got out of the car and observed the front driver side wheel was askew and not mounted onto the car. The ball joint was broken totally apart. The axle was broken, I had not hit anything in the road. The roadway was clear. The front driver side ball joint and axle had broken apart. The car had to be towed to a garage. The Ford garage said there was no manufacturer recall on the ball joint. This event could have resulted in serious injury or death. I feel fortunate to be uninjured but I want this event noted because I have seen that you investigated the Ford Edge 2007 for this failure in 2009. Please reopen this investigation.
Will be driving along at any speed and car will not accelerate, it does not stall but wrench light comes on and you can't do anything until you shut off the car and restart it. This has happened numerous times and hasn't caused an accident yet, but most certainly will eventually. This problem is well known, but is phrased as stalling when it truly doesn't stall, accelerator just doesn't work and car slows down quickly in traffic.
Smelled gas in garage. Checked leaking. Pulled out on drive . Saw leaking again. Took to mechanic and he verified the seam on the tank had a leak. Told not to set in garage or drive until fixed. Dangerous.
The passenger side door will not unlock with neither the unlock button on driver door nor the push button on my key fob. All other doors will lock. When my son has a seizure next to me and I pull over to assist, I cannot get him out of the door. He is unable to unlock the door himself of course. While he is having a seizure I have to try to pull him out while he is having his seizure through the driver side door to assist him. This gets very dangerous for several reasons. Especially while on the side of the freeway.
After stopping at a stop sign, when I pressed the accelerator my 2007 Ford Edge would not go forward (although the engine continued to run). I pulled over to the side of the road and tried several more times unsuccessfully. Not knowing what else to do I pressed hard on the accelerator and it started again. That happened 6 months ago. In the past 3 weeks it has happened 2 more times. Today, it took a different turn. The car shifted with difficulty, the wrench icon lit up on the dashboard and then rode sluggishly til I got home (about 4 miles). I left the car in my driveway for 30 minutes - when I turned it back on the wrench icon was off and the car ran fine. Upon a search on the internet I have found I am not alone with this safety issue. I am also not alone with getting no help from Ford. I would gladly have it repaired but my dealer appears clueless and said they cannot fix it if it doesn't happen when it's at their garage. This is a serious safety problem and feels like playing roulette with my life. I believe I have been lucky so far but who knows what happens if I'm on a highway when the Edge decides to stop. Please help!.
I was driving my 2007 Ford Edge with 3 children in it when all of a sudden I lost the ability to not only accelerate but my speed suddenly fell from 45 miles an hour to 15 miles an hour without any ability to accelerate. My car was in a constant state of shaking and sputtering and increased when applying the brakes. There was something significantly wrong and it was pretty scary to experience particularly with 3 small children. I had the car towed to my automotive service company where the car's software system displayed codes indicating two ignition codes failed. Subsequently, the service provider replaced all the spark plugs and two coils. The car was not fixed and it was further determined that the pcm board is sending extremely high current to the ignition coils and could have caused an engine fire. This is very distressing. Ford has issued an internal TSB acknowledging this issue but has not enacted a recall. The estimated cost to replace the pcm, spark plugs and coils (6) is approximately $3,000. Additionally in my research there is a class action lawsuit that has been filed by a group of Ford owners.
Weve owned this vehicle for approximately 2 years. The other day we noticed a strong smell of gasoline around the car. Upon checking we noticed the fuel tank leaking from around a seem. When I started checking around for a replacement tank I noticed a recall on 2008 Ford Edge. My car was built in August of 07. They described the same problem caused by contamination near a dimple at a seem. The same tank is on the 07, 08 and 09 Edge. When I checked with Ford they said my car wasn't under recall. I believe it should be because of the same tanks on the 07, 08 and 09 models plus its a safety hazzard as I cannot drive the car and the cost to fix it is over $2,000. 00. Ford should be made to recall all models from 07 on and correct this problem at no cost to the consumer before someone gets killed. I believe Ford knows about this and is intentionally not recalling these models because of the cost involved. I have owned vehicles all my life (I'm 62) and have never had a bad gas tank on any other vehicle I've owned. This is a defect that is a safety hazzard to the public and needs to be corrected!.
I was going to work. My car then jerked and stopped. I almost got rear ended because it just lost power. I was told the transmission was bad . . I went to the dealer and they will only help if I pay 4500 dollars, I did not get the warranty ,,I only had the car les then 2 months, now the car has to sit and I lost my job. I red reviews and all reviews said they had transmission replaced. Fyi I was not offered a warenty. This car should have a recall. I will have to get a lawyer and see if this matter can get resolved.
While driving at 40mph or greater, the car is skipping, jerking or hesitating. This started to happen while driving up a slight incline but now happens even on level road and happens several times during a 16 mile drive. Service department is unable to pin point the issue and it is getting worse. The other day while it was happening an orange engine emission light was blinking. I have been dealing with this for over a year and all the service department can say is that it is a bad engine coil but they don't know which one. From the looks of other forms, I am not the only 2007 Ford Edge owner this is happing to and it sounds like it is an expensive fix. There is obviously a problem with this make and model and Ford needs to step up and recall it.
I cant put in the part of the Ford Edge 2007 where it says affected part the part that was affected was the gas tank I have pictures to show how it rusted everytime I would fill the tank the smell of gas was bad this went on for about 1 month finding out that there was a leak and checking on the web site there were several others who had the same issue this was a dangerous situation with people smoking and throwing out their butts one spark and I and my daughter would not be here today im hoping that u will do a recall on this car.
