The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the gear shifter seized and the vehicle was difficult to shift into gear. The contact stated that the gear shift indicator showed that the vehicle was in park(p) however, the transmission was in reverse(r). The contact also stated that the parking brake was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with a fractured shifter cable. The failure recurred recently and the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.
