2 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

The driver door ajar light stays on most of the time. It makes the interior lights stay on unless turned off manually and can drain the cars battery and makes it hazardous to drive at night. The notification light comes on from when the car is in park and when the car is shifted into gear or rolling the notification sound comes on. The doors do not lock when the car is in motion and the notification sound beeps for several mins after the car is is in drive.

3 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2016

I keep getting a door ajar warning even when the door is completely shut. Therefore my lights stay on extra and my auto door locks wont lock, and I have a child in the rear seat so the child could open the door if I don't manually lock them. . . Not safe!. Upon searching, the door sensor needs to be replaced which is no easy task. Ford should replace for no fee.

4 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Door ajar sensor failure: 2012 Ford Edge left rear passenger "door ajar" sensor fails to indicate when door is shut/locked indicating it may still be open/unlocked. The sensor failure affects the following: - alarm/intrusion detection: security system does not set properly and will activate randomly if set. Attempting to set alarm results in three abnormal horn blasts indicating a door is ajar. In this state, alarm will sound randomly which is highly disruptive to neighbors. It is unsure whether this model can lock without security system enabled, forcing the vehicle to be left unlocked. - electric / battery: dome lights, and other dash indicators do not secure manually and cause severe battery drainage. Expensive battery replacements. - safety: small children in car seats, unsure if doors are properly secured, doubt and peace of mind in Ford. The issue was discovered approximately August 2016. Vehicle was parked. At first the door could be opened and re-shut with force and sensor would self correct, but ultimately it would fail altogether. This is a known issue. Ford, where is the recall!?.

5 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

The driver's door will not register closed. This leads to a series of issues including the dome light staying lit (distracting during driving and kills battery), constant alarms (distracting) going off while driving and most importantly the doors will not lock while driving. The last issue was not apparant until my 3 year old opened the rear door while the car was moving. I attempted to manually lock the doors and they would not lock. When presented to Ford we were given a quote of $500 and despite this being an issue in other models where its been recalled, they offered no concession to their customers. The inability to lock the doors will prove deadly if this issue is not part of a recall.

6 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

A fault in the door latch on the drivers side is malfunctioning and sends a signal that the door is open when it is not. Besides being annoying, I fear the fact that the doors do not lock while the vehicle is in motion. They could be locked manually, but I have two small children that can not lock them on their own. I fear that if we were in an accident, they could be thrown from the car due to not having the doors locked. At this point I do not even want to drive my children anywhere in this vehicle. It is a safety issue!.

7 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

The door ajar comes on when the door is completely shut. The safety of my children are a concern because the doors do not lock and you can't manually lock the doors. You can slam your door 100 times but it still stays on. This happens when my vehicle is parked and in motion.

8 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

The sensor for the door on the drivers side is not working. The panel tells me that the door is open when it is not. I have to manually lock and unlock the door several times or close the door several times hard in order for the sensor to go off. I have noticed that this is a common problem with the Edges. I do not have 5oo dollars to fix this problem. It is a safety issue as the door locks will not lock after car is in motion and this could be a possible safety issue while people are traveling in this vehicle. Also with the remote, sometimes locking the car is an issue. Could potentially drain the battery. Thank you.

9 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2014

While driving down the highway my vehicle suddenly flashed a message that said "awd manual turned off. " I could not accelerate, nor could I brake. I was lucky that the cars behind me did not rear-end me. I was forced to coast off the side of the road and wait for the car to stop on its own. Had I not had access to a shoulder on the road I would have been stranded in the middle of the highway. My mechanic stated they are replacing the throttle body.

10 Owners/service Manual problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

There is an issue related to the driver side door latch. The car will not lock the constantly chimes the door is open when it is closed. Even after manually locking the door, the locks pop back up. Initially the problem started periodically and could be corrected by opening and closing the door several times. There were times when simply opening the window tripped the door ajar indicator. This is a safety issue not being able to close the door and have the constant chime and interior lights on.
