The issue is my 2012 Ford Edge passenger seat door ajar sensor. The car alarm has been going off all day and in the middle of the night and now the car battery is dead, I've researched this an their are many other consumers that have been having the same issue with 2011 & 2012 Ford Edge vehicles. Why hasn't there been a recall from Ford regarding this? I have not taken this in to be inspected. I understand that the cost for the replacement sensor unit and labor can be $400 - $600. I will try to disconnect the sensor myself and avoid this cost. Now it will be a safety issue. Please encourage Ford to issue a recall on this. Thank you.
My brakes are going all the way to the floor just every once in a while, but wow, my vehicle is in park and running, my traction control light comes on the only way to get it off. Is to turn the ignition off and back on.
The door latch system is malfunctioning. The passenger side door will be closed but the light comes on that the door is open or ajar. This is a safety concern. I believe the door to be closed all the way but what if it's not and it opens while driving. I'm not sure if it is just a sensor or the door latch system is not working correctly.
There was no warning stated in the dash, but I went to drive my car one day and the brakes were sunk to the floor. I drove it around carefully for a little bit and realized the brake pedal built pressure if it was constantly being pressed, however, it would lose the pressure instantly. I got the brakes bled and replaced a brake line since I had replaced both of the rear calipers prior (no issues there and no issues with brake pads or the brakes themselves). A few weeks went by and I lost the pressure again instantly. I called the mechanic to take a look and they replaced the brake booster and master cylinder and bled the brakes. The brake lines/hoses were fine with no leaks. I picked the vehicle up and the brake pedal is still soft and mushy with no pressure building. I am scared to drive it in case I accidentally hit someone and it is currently winter (snow & ice). I have new tires but I fear the brakes will give out on me soon. I don’t think these parts are up for inspection or whether the issue is with the abs module or the hcu, but it appears to be a common issue with 2012 Ford Edges and other years. The time frame for this is all within 10 weeks since I wasn’t driving my vehicle for about 4 weeks.
My engine stopped as I was driving approximately 60 mph on the highway. Weather clear, dry, 90 degrees. I coasted to the side of the road. Engine immediately started. I drove a short distance and the vehicle stalled again. It again started and I drove a short distance to pull into a safe location. As I was waiting for oncoming traffic so I could turn left into a driveway the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. It again started and I was able to park in a safe location. The vehicle started and operated. I then drove the vehicle to a auto shop to check for codes. No codes. Checked battery and alternator which were fine. New gas in gas tank, clean air filter. See on internet site that these vehicle are prone to this and are dangerous. Drove another 40 miles back home with no problems.
My door ajar warning stays on after all the doors are shut. If I shut my driver door repeatedly, eventually it will turn off.
Senors keep going on and off sometimes I will be driving it will flash on then go off then sometime it will be when I start the car but when I turn the car off and come back to the car and start it again it goes off abs, abs off, and break light and warning pops up check break system I have had them check and confirmed it is a sensor issue.
I believe the sunroof package to be defective as well as the electric system that is connected to the systems. I have brought the issue up with the dealership and they did not perform a proper diagnostic on the part to report any issues. I believe this is a safety issue as the windows and back gate open without prompt. I don't use the sunroof because it hasn't opened since a short time after my purchase. When the sunroof opened I tried to close it and the element that closes it popped above my head and threw the panoramic glass off the track. I took the vehicle in to point of purchase and they did not perform a proper diagnostic on it to tell me whether it was safe to close or not. So if this could be resolved I would appreciate it. When I went online to trouble shoot a solution or cause I found similar cases of issue with the panoramic sunroof components. Thank you.
There is a bump sound and the engine goes into limp mode. The wrench symbol appears. After stopping and shutting down the engine, it will start normally and continue to run normally. Problem is when it happens on a heavily traveled road and there is a distance before one can turn off.
As I was driving, all of a sudden the car would not pick up speed. I gently put additional pressure on the gas, but nothing happened. I was lucky as I was going out to my mom's. As I pulled into the drive way I heard thumping noises (that is the best way I can explain the sound). Turned car off, visited with my mom, hours later drove home not issues / no light indicators. About a month later I was approaching a stop sign. As I proceeded after the red light turned green, the car again would not increase in speed. I gently applied more pressure to the gas pedal but it would not pick up speed. I had my foot on the gas almost to the floor. I was approaching an overpass but was skeptical about the car gaining speed enough to go over it. I thought best to pull over and seek other options. I called a tow truck and had it towed to my home. The following Monday I had taken it to a repair shop. The garage had it for two days and was unable to detect any thing wrong. This is a serious issue, if this would of happened on a busy freeway, this could result in serious accident in which fatalities could have happened. Losing power on a busy freeway is a disaster waiting to happen. I know my car, this has happened to me two times within 3 months. I am afraid to drive it and have take steps to correct this, but garages "cannot fix what they cannot find". So tell me Ford corporation what advice are giving to you consumers? or are you going to wait until someone gets killed ?.
I was driving my car with my 6 year old in it and it suddenly lost power on the freeway. There was a yellow wrench that appeared on the dashboard I was able to veer over to safety. Ford said it was the maf airflow sensor. We replaced it. Today, 4 days later it happened again with my daughter in the car. I bought this car 2 months ago from albany Subaru and they claimed it passed a 19 point inspection. I have a loan out on it and it's a completely unsafe vehicle.
Backup camera shows image in upside down position.
The backup camera is faulty. Sometimes you will start the car and it works but most of the time it is just a black screen. I can go out and make several stops and sometimes it will flash on and then go right off. I know there have been several recalls about this but this model so far hasn't been included. It is a widespread problem as I have another Ford vehicle that does the same thing and it is a safety issue.
Safety issue door ajar light not turning off when door is closed. Doors will not lock when car is in motion posing a safety threat to family. Battery has died multiple days times and replacement was necessary.
Blower motor quit. It's not the fuse. Vehicle was stationary and just started.
Vehicle is not recognizing driver door is shut. Have to slam door repeatedly to have the car register the door is not ajar.
Car starts to idle rough primarily while approaching/sitting at stop lights though has happened while in motion. It starts to shake before low engine oil pressure light and/or service engine light comes on. Car then "freezes" as can't steer, can't go forward or reverse and can't shift into another gear. Car turns off and may restart without any issue or may struggle to turn back on after many tries (10) with normal function. Online search indicates this is a common problem for this year, make & model with problem being attributed to one of the following: bad oil pressure sensor and/or valve, bad oil sending unit, bad bearings, water pump issue resulting in antifreeze backup, faulty tachometer or bad battery junction box.
Door ajar sensor consistently trickers when door is closed unable to deactivate. Occurs when opening then closing doors to drive out or parking to dismount from car.
"takata recall - I cannot count how many times this has happened to my vehicle. The breaks just refuses to function and the speed would not decrease. I have taken it to the dealership several times and they cannot find anything wrong with the breaks and they are not doing anything about it. Last Sunday (September 8,), my family and I almost died on the way to church. The vehicle would not stop!!! it finally came to a halt after been stopped by a pavement. I had to call Ford for a tow truck (which I had to pay for but they gave me a discount). My car has been with their service department for three days now. They keep saying that they cannot find anything wrong with it - this was exactly what happened the first time and 1-2 months later, we are back at the exact same spot!! there are several people online with the same issue. This car is not safe. Who else is supposed to diagnose a car but the manufacturer?!! if the manufacturer cannot find what is wrong with it, then the world is in big trouble. I thank god for always protecting myself and my family. My vehicle was in motion from highway to turning to red light. This car is not safe for the road. * the next page: I answered yes to "was there a crash" - I didn't crash into another vehicle, I crashed into a pavement at church that stopped the car.
When driving down highway 700 I went to put on brakes and it felt like I didn't have any it went all the way to the floor before stopping! basically the brakes are just barley there. Very dangerous and scary not to mention I had 2 kids with me. This happened before about 9 months ago it was a recall and was fix but now it has happened again. Also my door ajar indicator light keeps staying on.
Takata recall I purchased my 2012 Ford Edge sel April 22, 2019. Today, may 31st 2019 on my way horne from work the vehicle lost steering and power. I had just passed a semi-truck on a small farm town black top road and came up on a stop sign. In the process of turning to the left from the stop the incident occurred. Luckily I was able to make it out of the road. After several attempts to restart the vehicle I had to find an alternate way home. *when starting the vehicle the engine did run however it sounded as it was "starved" or "mis-firing", there was heavy white smoke dispersing from the exhaust and when I would attempt to put it in drive it would die. The oil level is fine, the antifreeze is fine, it is not overheating and there were no signs or symptoms of an issue. This was completely unexpected and occurred with no warning. The vehicle is currently parked where it died; a half hour away from my home. I am thankful my 15 year old daughter was not driving when this happened and even more thankful that this sporadic activity did not result in a fatal or crippling crash with another individual. As I research the causes it appears this issue is not isolated and has been occurring since 2008. I pray it is investigated and notice is shared before the potentials become a reality. Please be proactive vs reactive and assure this issue is addressed for the people.
Door ajar error. Door is closed but the latch mechanism doesn't engage and send a a proper signal to the car, so lights stay on.
When I am driving to work at 5:00 am down the interstate my interior lights will just come on. My Edge has interior lights that won't go off door ajar is on the dashboard. Late at night when my car is not in motion and my lights just turn on my home security system has recorded it several times and the car has sat off for many hours. My door ajar light is always on. For safety reasons this should be addressed by the Ford company.
The rear left door "door ajar" indicator would show that the door was open, even when slammed shut. At first I had to slam the door harder, but after a while even that didn't work. When that didn't work, it became an issue because my interior lights wouldn't go off after leaving the car. I had to break the part to get my lights to go off so I didn't drain my battery overnight.
The rear driver side door latch sensor does not detect when the door is closed resulting in a door ajar signal and the internal lights staying on. Additionally the auto lock function when the car is driving is disabled.
Drivers door is incorrectly reported as being open, interior lights are turned on, parked or while driving and stopped at traffic lights, impairing visibility outside at night. Secondary prevents doors vehicle from being locked by external pad when parking the vehicle as well as keeping lights on draining the battery. Trying to open/close door multiple times eventually resolves, but gets frustrating when it is 5+ min trying to do this in rain or in parking lots this has been increasing in frequency and more frequent in cold weather than warm. .
Door ajar warning light stays on.
When driving car transmission randomly goes into neutral and when you give it gas it will not go. This is very dangerous. One could get hit and killed. I checked with Ford and there is no recall youtube shows issues w/this.
Heating problem, heat on driver side in car the pass. Side blowing out cold air.
Vehicle displays a warning "vehicle coolant over temperature" the vehicle had been inspected twice and the technicians claimed not to have been able reproduce the error and also claimed that the computer was not "spitting" out any errors. The message displays within the first file miles after the car has been stationary for more than 2 hours and it is displayed for 10-20 seconds.
Door ajar light stays on after car door is shut which in turn leaves your dome lights on which in turn will run your battery dead. Doors will not lock and that's a safety hazard if you have children in the backseat.
From June 2018 to June 2019 I have invested over $4000 in primarily the braking sytem of my car. I continue to have issues when after filling my gas tank the car hesitates in starting. I have replaced everything that has to do with the breaking system from brake pads to hcu system to the abs system. Even the new parts have had to be replaced because they were faulty.
Door ajar issue. Door is latched properly, but the sensor is faulty.
When you start your car. A message comes on that doors are not closed. It happens randomly every time you drive the car. You can open and shut your doors. All the time. The car also randomly honks the horn and the lights all flash. We have changed the batteries in the remotes and it still happens. This has been going on for while.
