Electronic Stability Control problem #1

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the abs, service brake, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the brake fluid had been replaced weeks prior by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs module needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v733000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control) however, the VIN was not available, and customer satisfaction program: 13n02. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 119,190.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

Tl- the contact's aunt owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, when the transition warning light was illuminated and the vehicle began to decelerate it's speed. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and turn off the ignition. The contact stated when restarting the ignition the waring light turned off. The vehicle was taken to local dealer koons Ford Lincoln of annapolis located at 2540 riva rd, annapolis, MD 21401, (410) 224-2100 and was unable to duplicated the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 131, 995. Dp.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

Vehicle door ajar warning light appears on dash as a bright red warning when door is actually closed. Loud beeping warning sound continually sounds off while driving, causing a distraction making unsafe to drive. Driver ignores other warning banners and alerts because this "door ajar alert" is constantly on and ringing. The driver and passengers are in danger because the saftey automatic door locks dk not lock while driving. The driver cannot lock doors with key fob because the door sensor shows the door is ajar. Dome lights are constantly on while driving make it very difficult driving at night, impeding sight of street signs, street maintenance workers, other vehicles, and pedestrians.

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

While driving the car 40 miles it completely died and the steering wheel locked up. I took the car in for diagnostic test and it came back nothing. The car was giving back to me and it had the warning flashing on the dash with the wrench . I took several pictures. Driving west on I-40 during rush hour traffic. I paid for this repair and see this exact same thing has happened. Several month later the brakes felt like I was pushing on a brick. I was unable to stop,. The Ford company has a recal on the brake boaster and I was told to pay 900. 00 and maybe some time they will include my 2013 Ford Edge. Sept 16 2019 , the check engine light is on. There is a recallfor the Ford Edge 2013 but again not mine I have a faulty purge valve . Ford is charging 349. 00 to put on a part that is again on recall. This part is also on the outside of the car.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

The electric components in my Ford Edge is a major safety harazd with locking the SUV rear doors both left and right of my SUV. Very very concern with the safety aspects as I am a parent of 2 kids age between 10-12 years old . . . I need reassurance that Ford will recall my 2013 Ford Edge se SUV before there's a very very serious situation . Please help me to help my family safety. . . Thank you.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

Why driving 40 mph the car engine light flashed on oil pressure low. The engine shut off and the steering locked up making it in possible to get the car off the road. This is extremely dangerous. I had just driven on 4 hwys to get home 50 minutes. What if this happens why someone is on the highway.

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

I went to the dealership to get an oil change and tires rotated. They said I needed rear brakes . Appointment was made for 2 days later. When I drove the car home after the oil change, the engine check light came on and will not turn off. I told the service advisor about the engine check light . It is still on.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

I bought this car in July of last year, it is now October. My heat worked fine this past winter but since trying to use it this year since it has started getting colder, all I get is cold air. I have even had the thermostat replaced which made it work for a day but had to take my car back in 2 days after the repair. My mechanic said it is the computer which I can't find anything about in my warranty guide. I know I am not the first one to have these issues as I have seen many complaints online. It would be great if I could get some help getting this issue resolved soon due to my 3 young children.

Electronic Stability Control problem #9

Sudden loss of power while driving. The engine and all systems shuts down while going 50 miles an hour on the highway. Have to coast to a stop and restart. This has happened on 2 occasions in the last 3 months. I'm going to get myself killed in this thing. Also rear back up camera image upside down when it does appear and driver door indicator alarm is on when door is clearly shut. I have taken the vehicle to dealer to no avail. They were to contact the factory but never got back with me on the clear electrical computer malfunctions of this vehicle.

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

On 6-22-17 I purchased the Ford Edge from town and country Toyota. Less than a week later the car computer indicator consistently began to denote door ajar. The car was taken back to the dealership where it remained for 4 days. On 7-13-2017 while driving on busy street in charlotte nc around 4:30 pm in the afternoon the Ford Edge computer system flashes that the oil pressure is low. Immediately after this information was placed on the car computer screen the breaks locked, the steering lock and the car stops while in transition with no warning and I am sitting underneath the green light in the middle of an intersection on the street.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

Unsafe electric issues, very concern.

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

Door latch system malfunction. This triggers a door adjar signal in the vehicle. This ultimately keeps the interior lights on and prohibits you from locking the doors of the vehicle.

Electronic Stability Control problem #13

The "door ajar" light stays on showing drivers side door open when it is not. Drains the battery, it causes the alarm to go off randomly and it is not safe as I am not able to lock the doors. Today will be the 7th time I am taking it to a certified Ford dealer for repair.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

Engine control module-pcm. After 3 years of replacing/repairing items on my car, they now say that the pcm is the cause. I have replaced multiple sensors, catalytic converter, drive shaft, turbo, cooling system, and the list goes on. Had the pcm been diagnosed the first time my check engine light came on and replaced the sensor, I could of saved a lot of time. Every time I would go in, the diagnostic test would show 02 sensor which was replaced numerous times, then they would say catalytic converter, so on so on going down the list. I would get stranded on the highway because the car would completely shut down. Not one person in the past 3 years said the pcm was to blame. After a week of trying to diagnosis my car after once again being stranded on the highway, they are saying the pcm. The mechanic states that the computer module is on back order with Ford. The Ford rep states that they are selling them faster than they can be made. If this part is on back order (2 weeks) and can't keep them in stock, there seems to be an issue with the pcm for Fords. Everything that I have read states it is very hard to diagnosis a pcm but there needs to be a code that appears when it is faulty because this could of been covered under warranty 3 years ago but instead, I have paid a lot of out of pocket to get to this point of replacing the pcm. Pcm in high demand with Ford indicates a red flag for this part and issue. Please review.

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

The door ajar light is on and will not turn off even when all doors are properly closed. This leaves the dome lights on the entire time, wasting battery. It also causes warning bells and lights to come on while driving, causing a distraction.

Electronic Stability Control problem #16

Door ajar warning regarding driver front door is constantly on and will not go off. In addition, every time I take my foot off the brake, a shift to park notification appears on my dashboard and it makes a beeping sound. This is a huge concern and major problem. This should be a recall issue. Needs to be fixed immediately.

Electronic Stability Control problem #17

Incident was in local street when my wife was reversing the car from the driveway then staring suddenly locked and car got shut off. As car was middle of the road with baby so few people came to help and push the car back into the driveway. My wife tried to start again and car got started. We took the car to Ford dealer shop again and again they did not find any issue. Ford gave us car back and make sure that this car is safe to drive.

Electronic Stability Control problem #18

I was making a left hand turn in the middle of a large intersection when I lost acceleration and I had extremely limited power about 2 to 3 miles per hour. I could just barely "slowly limp" off to a safe place out of the traffic. My vehicle was towed to mechanic and most likely will be the etb electronic throttle body. Ford said my VIN number was not listed on their recall list or their "customer satisfaction program" yet they fixed 1. 6 million other cars with this same very dangerous defect. Ford Edge 2013. I am very fearful to drive my vehicle anymore as it is not safe and can be a reoccurring problem without any warning!! only 37,000 miles. I called and made a formal complaint to Ford. Also the etb is on a long back order which makes sense but yet no complete recall from Ford?? this is indeed a very serious and dangerous problem with these vehicles. Please do something about it for the consumers and the public's safety!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #19

The door ajar sensor light came on while stationary. It will not go off even though the door is fully closed. This has drained my battery. Summit Ford has quoted $600 to fix.

Electronic Stability Control problem #20

Issue occurred twice in my car within a month. 1st one, I was driving on highway with my family in speed of around 60 mile/hours due to traffic, all off sudden a message pooped up on my screen to park the car. As I was driving inner lane so could not park on shoulder side but parked inner side which was very dangerous. Car lost power and did not start but heater was on with high heat and fan. All lights were off could not switch on emergency lights. I towed my car to local shop in that town to find the issue but they could not find anything. They could manage to shut off the heater and next day it worked but they asked me to take to Ford dealer shop. I took the car to Ford dealer shop in my town but they also did not find any issue and assure that issue will not happen again and safe to drive. Which was strange to me that without knowing the actual reason how they can be so sure that this car is safe to drive again. 2nd incident was in local street when my wife was reversing the car from the driveway then staring suddenly locked and car got shut off. As car was middle of the road with baby so few people came to help and push the car back into the driveway. My wife tried to start again and car got started. We took the car to Ford dealer shop again and again they did not find any issue. Ford gave us car back and make sure that this car is safe to drive.

Electronic Stability Control problem #21

Everytime I get in and out of my car the driver's door won't lock. This leaves me in a vulnerable and unsafe position when driving or parking at work or the store. I could be carjacked if my door is still unlocked and I could be robbed of my possessions while in the store or at work since my doors won't lock. Would you want your loved ones/relatives found in this position/situation? how would you feel?.

Electronic Stability Control problem #22

The advance trac warning light comes on if the car has been idling for more than 5 minutes. The traction control light comes on and say my traction control is off. The car only has 38,000 miles. I have heard that others have had this issue with the Ford Edge. Once I start moving the warning light will eventually go away after a few minutes.

Electronic Stability Control problem #23

Faulty electronic sensor caused door ajar light to come on which caused shift to park light to come on and caused interior dome lights to come on and not dim while in gear. Prevented windows from being raised or lowered during allotted time once car was turned off. Vehicle would not stay locked.

Electronic Stability Control problem #24

Open driver door. Overhead light comes on. Key in ignition. Chime. Driver door ajar notice comes on. Rear park aid notice comes on. Put in "r" I back up. Shift to park notice comes on (overhead light is on). Start driving. Driver door ajar notice comes on. Overhead light goes out. I drive to a stop light. (doors never lock). I put on breaks to stop. Shift to park notice comes on. Driver door ajar notice comes on. I arrive at destination. Put car in park. Engine is on (overhead light is on). Take key out of ignition (overhead light is on). Open driver door. Note: if I use the fob, overhead lights wont got out. If I manually push door lock button, the inside overhead lights will only go out 3 of 10 tries. I have to unbolt the battery to make them go out. Have already had to buy one battery. I cant lock doors at a stop sign which is unsafe. This is a daily constant occurance. Others are expressing same issues. This needs to be recalled. The door ajar first happened 10/9/14 at 32,156 miles. Took to Ford dealership. It started happening again in November 2016 and has more issues and now is a safety concern. I also am noting that I have gone out in the middle of the night and my overhead light is on inside the car.

Electronic Stability Control problem #25

While driving there was an sudden unexpected loss of power and had to immediately pull over on the Edge of the road causing a dangerous situation. There was no response from the throttle. After the car was turned off for about 1 minute then restarted, it was acting normal and was able to merge back into the oncoming traffic also in a dangerous situation.

Electronic Stability Control problem #26

Car door sensor goes off while driving and will not stop in till I repeatedly shut the door several times. This is very dangerous as when you are driving the alarm goes off and puts the driver in sudden alarming mode and in need of pulling over quickly and at times not able. I bought the vehicle back in sept 2016 and it started 1 week after driving the car and continues.

Electronic Stability Control problem #27

Low oil engine pressure at all times indicated, olmost since purchase 2 yaers ago. When vehicle is in motion on a city or highway .

Electronic Stability Control problem #28

My driver "door ajar" sensor will not go off, causing interior lights to stay on for extended periods, beeping when coming to a stop, inability to lock the doors inside when driving and ignition dinging constantly when keys are in. This occurs both when vehicle is stationary as well as moving and it does not matter how hard or light the door is shut. In looking online, it appears this has been a common problem for people, however has yet to be recalled.

Electronic Stability Control problem #29

The "driver door ajar" light does not turn off when you close the door. It will remain on the entire time the vehicle is being driven. The lights will stay on when you are not in the vehicle and when driving at night. Unable to lock the doors from the keypad because the vehicle thinks the door is still open. The horn beeps twice when you try to lock the vehicle with the key fob indicating that the door is open. The radio will also remain on after you exit the vehicle and lock the doors.

Electronic Stability Control problem #30

Door ajar warning back passenger door is constantly on and will not go off. Doors will not lock, dome light stays on. This is a huge concern and major problem. This is the 2nd time this has happened. First time was covered under warranty. This needs to be recall issue and fixed immediately.

Electronic Stability Control problem #31

My drivers side door when I shut it, the door ajar light stays on along with the dome lights. It only took a few times re shutting the door to make this go away. However, just recently it has been staying on longer and harder to get to go off. It has also been coming on when driving and I have to pullover to try to get this to turn off. I cannot lock the doors when this happens causing a very unsafe travel along with the lights staying on. If I had kids in my vehicle I would feel they could open the doors due to this failure and fall out. When driving and this happens the light comes on and causes a glare and could cause an accident! even after Ford does their "cleaning" to the door it still happens after a couple months. The door latch and components have to be replaced completely to have this fixed.

Electronic Stability Control problem #32

The door ajar signal remains lit when door is closed, preventing the ability to lock doors while driving, and causing internal car lights to remain on.

Electronic Stability Control problem #33

For well over a month, the driver's door warning will not go off. Even when car is off, lights remain on inside the car. While driving, light and warning continually stay on, doors will not lock because sensor for door remains on. When I come to a stop while car is running, warning to shift car to park will come on.

Electronic Stability Control problem #34

About 2 weeks ago (around July 8, 2016) I started having problems with the driver side door ajar warning light coming on. It would sometimes go off on its own or when I opened and closed the driver side door a few times. This has progressed to the point to where the door ajar light is on all the time when the car is on. My dome light, brake lights, headlights and door ajar warning light will come on randomly when the car is shut off, of course creating problems with running the battery down. As I drive down the highway or driving in town, warning lights and chimes create a driving hazard when they go off. I haven't had to drive at night yet, but the dome light coming on randomly will definitely cause a driving hazard. This is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Electronic Stability Control problem #35

The driver side latch and door ajar sensor are defective. The car does not properly register that the door is closed. This forces the door ajar light and sound to repeatedly go off. This also keeps the dome light on when shutting the door thus killing the battery. Also, you are not able to lock the doors and this is a safety issue with kids and with items in the car being stolen.

Electronic Stability Control problem #36

My rear drivers side door is closed and yet the door ajar warning stays on therefore my doors don't automatically lock when in motion. And when the key is pulled out of the ignition all the interior lights and the lights on my side mirrors stay on until I start the car again so they stay on for hours at a time, making every bulb very hot and draining my battery. I figured this was just more wear and tear but after looking into it it seems many other Edge owners are having the same exact issue.

Electronic Stability Control problem #37

The driver side door adjar warning light stays on. Closing the door multiple times does not fix the issue. Doors will not lock when warning light is on. This is a hazard for parents with small children.

Electronic Stability Control problem #38

The passenger left rear door ajar sensor stays on even when the door is completely closed. The sensor is located on the dashboard screen. The doors cannot be locked while driving even thou they lock you can still open the locked door while the vehicle is moving. This is a huge safety issue as I have a child who can open the door at any time since the doors will not lock! another huge issue is because the door sensor is saying the door is open it drains the battery because the lights stay on longer. I have already have to been jumped once and get the battery saver is off pop up on my screen when turning off my car. The sensor light has been on for the past 2 months now. My car is only a 2013 with 39000 miles.

Electronic Stability Control problem #39

My driver door ajar alert will popup, of course the door is shut, I have to on a daily basis reshut the door to close out the alert, this is intermittent, I know the problem is becoming worse, it will occur during the drive of the car, the usual stuff, when the door is ajar, lites come on, the tone, door locks will not lock. I know as well that something is really going on as I shut the car off, go and remote lock the car, the car horn beeps twice, its supposed to beep once and then lock, otherwise, the dome lites remain on for over 5 minutes, and the car will not lock, which to me is a major safety hazard. You can not lock the manually either this problem is slowing draining my battery. To the point I will be stuck somewhere. Another safety hazard.

Electronic Stability Control problem #40

Driver door ajar light stays on even when the door is shut!interior dome lights stay on and it tells you to shift the car to park. Does not matter how many times you shut the door it is still sensing it is open. I have to shut the door mulitple times and use the key fob until the lights go off so the battery does not run down. You can shut the door and finally get it to turn off, then start driving and it will tell you to shift to park that the door is ajar and the dome lights come on. The estimate from the dealer to repair is $500. 00. This is a major safety concern because my door will not lock while it is showing its ajar and I have children in the back seat that could open it, it is very distracting, frustrating and when it happens at night my lights will not go off and you can not see clearly. I have seen so many complaints regarding this and is very disappointed that Ford is not concerned as well!!!!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #41

When starting vehicle, driver door sensor shows "driver door ajar" when the door is closed and dome light stays on and also shows warning light to "shift to park"; took to the dealer & told them I read online of many issues like this. Dealer said I would have to pay $95 diagnostic charge then file on my non-Ford extended warranty (& pay deductible) dangerous is going down road at night and the dome light comes on. If this is a known issue< why doesnt someone make Ford recall it?.

Electronic Stability Control problem #42

After closing the driver side door, a warning image pops up on the speedomitor display. The doors used to automatically lock as you put it in reverse/drive if all of the doors are closed properly, but the driver side door sensor tells the car door is ajar. This not only annoying to see the pop up, interior lights stay on and slamming the door continuosly, but its a safety issue for all of the passangers. Ford has gottin' many complaints on this issue online and physical dealerships.

Electronic Stability Control problem #43

The driver door is closed, but ajar stay on!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #44

Takata recall. Went to get into my 2013 Ford Edge and it keeps telling me door ajar. I have tried slamming the door and nothing works, the light stays on and it then causes my interior lights to stay on until I drive fast enough then the interior lights turn off until I start to slow down again. It then tells me that my door ajar and turns my lights back on. The sensor that I was told is broke is on back order. This needs to be a recall.

Electronic Stability Control problem #45

About 6-8 months ago I took my vehicle into the dealer. The problem was the driver door saying it was ajar. I would shut it several times and still the door ajar light still came on. It would chime like the door was open and it is very distracting, doors don't lock and inside lights won't go off. They fixed the problem by "cleaning " the sensor. The problem has started again and I no longer have the bumper to bumper warranty. I think this needs to be a recall because it is very distracting and I am not the only one that has had this complaint.

Electronic Stability Control problem #46

I was driving to walmart when the vehicle suddenly dropped from 45mph to less than 3mph and no matter what input was given to the gas pedal the vehicle would not react. The tack was under 900 and on the left side of the dash a warning came up looking like a wrench. Once I pulled over tried to do a vehicle report and the vehicle was unable to do a maintenance check. Shut off engine and restarted the vehicle; no problems restarting the vehicle and no memories of why the engine did what it did (called "limp home status"). There is also no memory within the pcm about the vehicle going into this mode or why. This could be very dangerous if I was on a high way. A quick google search reveals hundreds of complaints of this happening; all with same resolution. The vehicle has no idea why it went into limp home and no memory of that status after restart.

Electronic Stability Control problem #47

While vehicle still under warranty on July 1, 2015 took vehicle to dealer for door ajar light not going off. On 12/7/2015 took it in again but had to pay a deductible since the 36 month warranty/mileage had expired. First the dealer kept the vehicle over night to fix but the second time they stated that I had to pay the deductible for a door latch. I asked the rep several times what was done before and why that I had to pay for something that the workmanship did not last and she stated I'll have to see but never gave any information when I picked the vehicle up. Ford should recall for door ajar problems and I should get my deductible back.

Electronic Stability Control problem #48

All the car sensors have gone out it says the doors are open at all time even when closed tightly the lights come on and go off on their own when it's parked and the engine is shut off the engine oil light pops on and off the air pressure light stays on the air bag light goes on and off the back up camera hardly ever works. The head lights have dropped down and only shine out about a 15 feet ahead of you while driving.

Electronic Stability Control problem #49

2 weeks after I bought my Edge I was attempting to parallel park and when my engine failure light flashed and my car just turned off. I have a push button start so I had to press the brake and attempt to turn the car on again. I took it to the dealership and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So again in April and again a week ago once when I was driving on a normal street (45 mph) and while I was driving down the freeway (75 mph) my car just turned off and stated engine failure low oil. The 2nd time it happened my car had 4,000 miles on it and 5,000 miles the 3rd time. I told the dealership my issues and they told me they couldn't find the problem after having my car for just 24 hours. Your right, it's an intermittent issue so it's not just going to happen while you took my car and drove it 100 miles. None the less I shouldn't have to be dealing with this in a vehicle I paid over 40k for. The owner of avis Ford, [xxx] told me it wasn't that big of a deal because it only happened 3 times in 5 months. My car turning off while driving is a huge deal and I could have died any of those times. Engine failures in a vehicle that is brand new is a huge deal.
