I’ve had some serious problems with my back up camera sometimes it blacks out and turns completely black in the middle of me backing up a few times I almost ran into a car and a person backing up and then when it goes blank all of a sudden I couldn’t see. Also sometimes the picture will turn upside down and get distorted. I was going to get it looked at and I spoke with a friend that has a 2013 Ford Edge and said they were having the same problems with their back up camera. So I looked it up online and noticed there’s a recall on all backup cameras on Ford vehicles, it said it started 2015 and up, and it stated that the problems that they were having were the exact same problems that I’m having but when I put my information in, it says there’s no recall on my car so if it’s the specific year, I don’t know, but I’m obviously having the exact same problems with my backup camera and I feel like it’s dangerous and I’m sure I’m not the only vehicle that that’s happened to, especially with them having a recall on their backup cameras. I feel that Ford should recall on the backup cameras for more than just the 2015 and up, my model is a 2014 Ford Edge sport and definitely is having the exact same problems as the other recalls on their back up cameras.
Rear back up camera stopped working after image turned upside down for a few days.
I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge in December 2023. March 2023, I started having issues with the driver side door lock sensor malfunction as shown in the last photo. The door would not automatically lock when I started driving, sensing that the driver’s side door was still open. It was not. I kept pushing the lock button to lock it, but it kept unlocking even while driving. Eventually it would lock. The cost to fix that was around $600 which I could not afford, and my limited warranty expired. July/August 2025 my abs and traction control sensor lights were lit on my dash. I took the car for service and my very reputable mechanic diagnosed with no codes showing up a few times. Performed a reset twice and the lights came back on after only driving a couple of miles. He contacted Ford who advised he couldn't sell the part because there was a "national hold" on the part. On 9/2 my brakes and traction control failed resulting me rear ending another vehicle. The other safety issue is that my airbags did not deploy upon the collision. I contacted Ford corporation and was advised that Ford will not do anything since my vehicle was older than 10 years. The vehicle is a total loss leaving me with a loan balance of approximately $4,700. 00. This is neither fair nor right for a multimillion-dollar company that will not or choose not to address or acknowledge their responsibility regarding these two very serious safety issues. Since I didn’t die or get seriously hurt, I guess it’s not that big a deal to Ford.
When in reverse, the backup camera in my vehicle no longer functions. The view is displayed upside down which is very disorienting or the screen rapidly flashes.
Backup camera fails intermittently and displays a warning telling me it is not operable and recommending it be checked. Same problem as desc2ibed in NHTSA recall issued last month for Ford vehicles including 2021-2014 Edge.
Back up camera randomly goes to a blank/black screen. Other times it randomly flips upside down. Many times the picture is grainy and wavy. Completely unreliable. I was told that the cameras just go bad randomly and that it’s my problem. However, it has to be the wiring since occasionally the picture is sharp and occasionally it is right side up. The constant unreliability is a safety hazard.
Back up camera stopped working. Back up sensors either don’t work or will just beep when nothing is behind the car. Don’t have exact date it stopped working because it started working for 1 day and then stopped working again. It has been probably 8 or 9 months since it has worked.
Backup camera doesn't always display. Had a accident while backing up.
My Ford has the rear view camera which at the time was an upgrade. Unfortunately it has not worked in the last 1 year. It has blanked out and shows upside down. According to the dealership only the 2015 and up had the recall. I understand that in 2014 was the year that back up cameras were required in cars. That is why we paid for an upgrade and purchased hours. And now all cars have them. I like to have ours fixed if at all possible without out of pocket.
Backup camera not working properly. Unsure if this falls under any recall headings for safety. I’ve seen many recalls on newer backup cameras but none on this year model. Was displaying upside down or with green lines across the screen and now just completely unavailable. Has not been diagnosed by Ford and will not be diagnosed by Ford out of my pocket. Can’t afford it. But it is available for inspection. I did clean some corrosion off of some wiring harness connections to no avail. Please advise.
My backup camera has had problems for a least a year and a half with my backup camera being inverted or black at times, more often than functioning correctly. In addition over the last 6 months my entire infotainment center goes black at which time I have no access to climate controls, navigation, radio or bluetooth connections for cell phone. Consider the recent recall for vehicles one year newer then mine I’m sure there are others within my year and older experiencing this problem.
The rear view camera displays a distorted image on the center of the display screen when the vehicle is in reverse.
I bought this vehicle brand now. The Edge only has 69k miles on it and I have replaced the front and back brakes (rotors, pads, calibers) 3 times (yes. . . 3 times). I also had to recently (in 2023) replace the muffler, left and right outer tierods, left and right front wheel bearings and hubs. Now: April 2023: my front brakes are pulsating and I brought the vehicle back to my mechanic for a complete vehicle check overall which the mechanic documented: power steering return line is rotted (cost $175). A/c condenser is leaking and needs to be replaced/recharged (cost $1050). Driveshaft issue/vibration @ 50 mph: need to remove the rear driveshaft and inspect: if needs to be replaced: $4500. Replace front and read brake pads/rotors/calibers ($1600). . . Which would be #4 for replacement. Replacement of right rear parking brake cable ($205). ***I previously wrote a complaint several years ago (for the same VIN#). . . This is just an update and I am requesting Ford to review and demand a recall. The 2014 Edge has been a money pit for me and it only has 69k in mileage. If there was a way I could seek reimbursement I would. I will never buy a Ford again.
Pulled out of a parking lot onto a busy street locally, car lost power and the orange wrench light came on. Would not go, all the car did was jerk and sputter. Engine did not shut off but would only coast/roll into the middle lane and managed to coast/roll into another business parking lot next door to where I pulled out from and once parked, I turned ignition off and back on. Wrench light went out and car started. No codes were apparently shown when hooked up to the machine at the car lot the next day (wrench light was still off) this is very scary and very dangerous whatever it is, it needs investigated and fixed so us Ford Edge drivers can feel safe when driving. Also 1 week before this my check engine light came on, same code 3 times came up for eval, emissions ect. . . Now no codes are showing since the wrench light came on Sunday and my car stopped moving.
Rear back up camera works intermittently making it difficult and dangerous when backing up.
The backup camera has stopped working. Sometimes it appears fuzzy when the car is put into reverse, other times the screen is black and says I need to contact my local dealership. The screen can also stay that way after I place the vehicle back into drive for several minutes before it goes back to the accessory screen. This issue started out as just sometimes a problem and sometimes the camera would work fine. It is at the point now that it never works anymore. I also have had issues with the rear cross traffic sensors "detecting" things when the car is in reverse that aren't there. It can be very dangerous because you think something is behind the car that is not there and can cause the driver to slam on the brakes. This issue does not happen on a regular basis, just sometimes. The vehicle is available for inspection for all problems. None of the problems have been inspected by anyone professionally yet. A dealership has not confirmed the issues either.
2014 Ford Edge backorder prevention, identical to the recall for 2021 & 2022 Edge recall for distorted or camera not available NHTSA campaign number: 22v151000. This recall should be expanded to include other years including 2014 Edge as these vehicles are having the same issue. This happens every day and as soon as you put the vehicle into reverse.
When the vehicle reaches up to 80,000 miles or so, you may hear a clicking or clunking in the rear when turning or ascending. Nowhere listed in the driver's manual is a power transfer unit mentioned. Obviously, the fluid in this part has to be changed every 30,000 miles. Resulting in a very expensive repair if not done so. I am being quoted 2500. 00 for the part and installation by a Ford dealer. The power transfer unit blew up, has black oil and metal fragments in it.
Heat and defrost malfunction. Driver side blows cold defrost and hot on passenger side. Potentially a safety issue as there is no way to defrost driver side windshield in cold weather.
While driving the wrench light will come on, vehicle will lose all power and vehicle becomes difficult to steer and brake. Once the vehicle stops vehicle needs to shut down, wait several minutes and then restarted. Once vehicle is on again the light goes out.
Window master switch and door wire harness on drivers door does not operate. Can not open any windows on the vehicle. Rear windows will not open from rear door switches also. In case of accident windows can not be opened for exit purposes. Can not open windows if stopped by a police officer, whereas, they may feel threatened by occupant in vehicle. Is this a safety feature to be able to open windows. Ford dealer performed a vehicle check on may 20, 2021 and indicated the door harness may need replacement and the window master switch. Ford indicated the vehicle is 7 years old and the part is likely not made by Ford anymore. Ford has no way to correct the issue. There were no warning lights, messages, regarding the stoppage on may 20, 2021.
The vehicle instrument cluster displays a "driver door ajar" warning. . . Despite the door being fully closed. The dome lights stay on, and an "engine on" alert appears, as well. To clear it, the driver's door must be closed several times. It is occurring more and more often. The vehicle is stationary during this problem. It seems this is a rampant problem from what my research indicates. . . And should seemingly dictate a factory recall. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for some of the characters in the VIN, based on the manufacturer submission. #vpic#.
The back up camera video is upside down. It is like this 95% of the time, occasionally it will be in the correct position. Sometimes the screen is all black, but mostly is is upside down making it very difficult to use when parking!.
My backup camera is failing periodically.
My 2014 Edge has the same issue that is getting solved by the NHTSA recall number, 22s43. The vehicle is not going into park.
1. Press or loosing off brakes pedal gives a knocking noise. 2. Rear view camera flickers & shut off with a warning message. 3. Rearview side mirrors do not work. 4. Lighter plug located by middle compact towards back row does not work.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 40 mph and approaching a stop sign, she had to depress the brake pedal to the floor to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated she heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but on 11/8/2021, she began to experience the failure again. The contact took the vehicle back to local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake master cylinder to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but failed to fix the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending the repair. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,980.
Driver door ajar warning won't go out. Doors won't lock. Battery drains. Transmission not in park warning. These warnings come on while parked and while the vehicle is moving.
I have a faulty door latch issue. When I turn my car on and start driving, the driver door ajar light won't go off and I can open my doors while driving. When I shut the car off, the lights won't go off inside the car and the car continues to ding like the door is open. This will cause my battery to go dead.
The driver side door sensor/ latch is failing. Door is closed or slammed multiple times and sensor shows errors door ajar, transmission not in park, engine on because it doesn't sense the door being shut. Therefore the overhead light stays on and can potentially drain battery. If continuing to drive with warning it will beep every few seconds. The doors will not automatically lock. When getting out of car and locking. It needs to be shut multiple times so light doesn't stay on and or alarm will not set.
When I close my driver door, it tells me that my door is ajar. I know my door is closed so I put my car in drive and it tells me that my transmission is not in park. I know that there was an issue with the 2013 Ford Edge door latch on the driver door. I do not believe that Ford has corrected the problem. I have to close my door 3 to 4 times every time I get in my car just to make the indicator stop dinging.
The driver said door won't register as closed so the door ajar light stays on. This then won't allow the doors to lock and keeps the dome light on. How do you know if the door is really shut or not ? it makes the car almost useless since it thinks the door is not shut and how do you know if it is or not.
The drive door is consistently not locking properly and the door latch sensor is not reading when the door is shut properly. Causing a "door ajar" and "transmission not in park" warning to pop up while driving. Also, my car alarm goes off several times a day and several times all through the night due to the door sensor not working properly. The doors not locking is a huge safety risk. The interior lights stay on making it hard to see while driving at night and drains my car battery. Children can open my doors from the inside while driving and any unwanted person can open my doors from the outside while stopped for traffic reasons. When I looked at the car to purchase 4 years ago, I reported the issue to the dealer and the dealer supposedly sent the car to a Ford dealership to inspect and fix the issue. After the supposed fix, the issue seemed fine for a while. However, the issue came back shortly after purchase and got worse causing other symptoms such as the car alarm going off randomly after locking the car. I honestly feel the dealer just cleaned the sensor and door latch area to make a sale, which from what I've read is only a temporary fix. I have seen investigations and recalls for 2011, 2012, and 2013 Ford Edge models with the same or similar issues. However, there have not been any investigations and recalls for this issue on a 2014 Ford Edge, yet there are many complaints. Please investigate this safety issue so we don't have to worry about possible risk that could occur while driving. Thank you.
Driver side door latch/sensor malfunction. Due to manufacture date of October 2014 my vehicle is not eligible under current recall for the latch (19n09) however my vehicle is currently at the dealership having the part replaced with out of pocket expense.
The rear backup camera failed after 5 years. It would not present a proper image on the screen in the dashboard, rather it showed an image that was upside down or it was just blank. Dealer said it was form normal wear and tear (?) and it was over $1k to repair. Since it is relied upon when backing up the vehicle, it presented a significant safety issue to not have it operate properly.
