36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

I have infrequent linkage concerns while traveling at slower speeds usually in parking lot type traffic where braking and light acceleration are constant. After coasting, in drive, there is a slight hesitation when the accelerator is pressed, then a noticeable, sometimes hard, engagement of the transmission.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

When I put the vehicle in park it displays the "transmission not in park" light. When this displays you cannot lock doors properly. The only way to adjust this is to either tap the gear shift button for standard drive or restart and kill the car. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This has been happening off and on since 30,000 miles but out of the 3 year warranty. I am being told they have to replace the shifter to correct the problem . They also tell me it is a common problem with this car.

39 Power Train problem

Right front axle failure warning of transmission not in park.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle lost power and slowed to a stop. There were unknown warning indicators illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to wehr Ford (11311 us-60 bus, mountain grove, mo 65711, (417) 926-3192) and repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was submitted; however, the contact was informed that Ford could not offer assistance. The failure mileage was 70,000.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2017

After stopping and putting the transmission shift lever in park, a message will appear on the dash that says the transmission is not in park. But it is. You can click the shift switch and the message will go out within 5-10 seconds. Every once in a while it will stay on for close to 30 seconds. The message doesn't come up constantly. Usually about every couple of times you stop and park. You never know if the transmission is really in park. You have to assume that it is. One of these times it really will not be and someone will get hurt. The dealer doesn't want to fix it until it comes on constantly. Now it is only intermittent. Ford has a TSB on the problem. But they want the customer to pay for the repair. It covers several Ford models over several years. To me this is a safety issue. The owner never really knows if the transmission is in park or not. This has been happening on my vehicle for over a year now.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2017

After driving and placing the vehicle in park, then turning off the engine; which is done by "pushing button control," the indicator reads " transmission not in park". Although the gear handle is fully engaged in the park position. Only after pushing the gear handle with a little force to ensure it's in the "park", position, does the dash indicator changes to "park". And it's safe to exit the vehicle.

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (beyers Ford located at 170 ridgedale Ave morristown, NJ 07960) where it was diagnosed that the shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 62,788.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2017

Car stopped running in the middle of a red light and when pushing the gas would not do anything and when put into park the whole car shook really bad. Had to get out of the middle of the road so that I would not be hit from behind.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2016

Vehicle abruptly slowed down while going 35-40 mph. Error message on display said see owners manual with the wrench symbol which is a loss to the power train. Vehicle had a rough idle and gas pedal was not responding and I had to be coast to side of road after which it was turned off. After about 3-5 minutes I restarted the vehicle and everything was fine. I was going straight and up a small incline. Vehicle would not go forward and I had to coast backwards down hill.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

I was driving my car down a side street when all of a sudden the dashboard flashed "low engine oil pressure" and I lost control of the steering, brakes, and gas. The car essentially just stalled out and just started rolling until I hit the emergency brake. I had the car towed to the dealership and after looking at it for two days they couldn't replicate the error and couldn't find anything wrong with the car. The computer registered no errors and I was told there was nothing they could do.
