And cause in your description. Am writing to formally report a recurring and dangerous issue with my 2015 Ford Edge, which is currently driven by my 16-year-old daughter. Despite reporting this problem multiple times, it remains unresolved and poses a serious safety risk. The backup camera activates while driving at high speeds, distracting the driver and creating a hazardous situation. The steering becomes unusually tight, making it difficult to maneuver the vehicle safely, especially during lane changes or emergency corrections. These issues are not only persistent but occur while the vehicle is in motion at highway speeds, significantly increasing the risk of an accident. I have video documentation of the backup camera activating while driving, which I am willing to provide upon request.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, with the steering wheel requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. The traction control and power steering warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v632000 (steering) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 170,000.
When I went to the store I turned off my engine and when I came back in the car I started it and could not turn my steering wheel , good thong this happened when I was parked.
Steering assist and stabitrac keeps going out, vehicle is difficult to turn and doesn’t brake well in wet conditions.
While driving, my vehicle will lose power steering briefly. This makes the car extremely difficult to steer and has almost caused accidents repeatedly. Warning messages related to power steering assist and hill start assist appear on the screen. This happens at various points when driving: when I am turning, driving straight, pulling into parking spaces, backing up, etc. This is a reoccurring issue and has happened multiple times. There is a recall for 2015 Ford Edge describing the exact issues I am having with my vehicle. It is related to the corrosion of bolts holding the electric power steering gear motor. For some reason, my vehicle does not qualify for this, even though I live in west virginia, one of the states listed in the recall. I have taken the vehicle to multiple Ford dealerships and have been repeatedly told that I would need to completely repair my power steering rack, but I suspect this may be related to the above recall.
Car steering hugh safety issues 12/29/2022 drove vehicle to store, parked vehicle, returned to vehicle and was not able to turn steering wheel to leave. Light came on for the first time, when starting vehicle indicating a problem. There was no indication of a problem with the steering, prior to the steering failure. This could have caused a severe accident if this had occurred while driving. Took in in for repair. 3100 cost. Noted other recalls on steering for 2015 Edge. Mechanic was not able to determine why it failed said it was an internal part failure. Please contact me regarding follow up.
Car shuts down when driving. Will lose all power and when I pull over and restart, everything is fine until the next episode, which is happening more frequently. No warning lights come on, nothing. Techs cannot find the issue. This is a common problem that is going unresolved on this and other models, and nothing is being done about it. This is a huge safety concern that needs addressed before someone is killed.
Steering gear is failed. Grinding and roaring. Told recall was performed before I purchased the vehicle. Was wondering if there liable to replace the rack and pinion steering system or am I. Told not to drive became it's failing. Thank you. Johnny wilson.
Loss of power steering assist, at lower speeds, when making a turn.

Car shimmy's when hitting a bump or rough pavement. If this happens when road surface is wet or icy I feel car will slide enough to cause accident.
The steering locked up while driving the vehicle. There was a recall on this defect but my VIN evidently isn't covered. The recall # is 19s26, dated 8/28/2019, and it includes the 2015 Ford Edge. We had it towed to a Ford service provider. The dealer is going to fix it and the cost is estimated to be $3200. Ford broadway in green bay, WI will be doing the work. I talked with them, Ford motor company and directly to someone with NHTSA and didn't get anywhere. The problem experienced and the solution recommended sounds exactly like recall 19s26, but for whatever reason, my VIN is not included in the recall. There are state of registration requirements that seem to be tied to cold weather and corrosion caused by salt from icy roads. Maybe it was originally registered in a warm weather state? maybe the repair was already done once? it seems logical that this problem would be covered by Ford since it actually had a recall on the exact issue. Hoping we can have my VIN # included in the recall so that the cost can be covered by the manufacturer. Thank you.
Electric power steering rack failed while driving. Lost all steering of vehicle without any notice.
While driving my 2015 Ford Edge the power steering stopped working, the dashboard lite up. I stopped the SUV. And was unable to drive. I took it to my local garage and they pulled codes and diagnosed a bad power steering rack and pinon. Located a used one for $350. 00 had that installed but did not work! I had to buy a new one at a cost of $1492. 36 . The total cost between parts and labor was over $2500. 00 the garage that did all the work took it upon it self to take apart the original rack and pinon to see what happened to it?? they found that the seal between the two halves on the rack and pinon had failed and that water had gotten into the unit and ruined the electronics inside it. The recall on the bolts was done , but problem should up shortly after? I feel this is a flaw in the design of the unit and should be looked into by the NHTSA further, because this could of caused a serious crash!!.

Service advance trac light, hill start assist, traction control, wrench light, airbag light and break light all come one simultaneously. Gets stuck on parking break while in park and power steering goes out while driving. Spent over $700 with local for dealership trying to fix it. After it being in the shop the for 3 weeks the same thing started happening a few hours after pickup. The dealership claims that Ford knows about the issue but their isn't just a one all fix all. Other Ford models has had the same issues in the past and had recalls on them. Need this issue fixed!! it's been like this since the day that I purchased it (8/13/2019) from the big red kia in norman.
I purchased this used 2015 Ford Edge at 26000 miles 2 months ago. Test drove hills, freeway, etc. Once I purchased I notice right away on the way home excelerating at about 35 mph on a curvy road to my house the steering felt stiff and hesitated. The car went the direction I needed it to go but something is off. I drive this route everyday and this happens 90% of the time at curves. I have also now noticed since I am more aware, the steering wheels sometimes knocks when I turn tight, I will be taking it in to see if they can diagnose. I wish I would have read the complaints on this site before I purchased. Would have know what to look out for.

While driving down the city street attempted to make a turn the steering locked up almost ran into the back of a mail truck. Had to have the car towed home could have been a fatality.
On February 7, 2019 at approximately 7:30pm I arrived at my home and parked the vehicle in my driveway. Nothing unusual was noted about the vehicle. At approximately 9:50pm that evening I attempted to back out of my driveway. The vehicle started normally but had no power steering. The following faults were displayed on the instrument panel: "steering assist fault service requested, "hill start assist not available", "service advance trac". The "traction control off" icon was displayed on the instrument panel. I could not check the "traction control" box on the driver assist menu. I did not attempt to move the vehicle out of the driveway. On the morning of February 8, 2019 the vehicle was loaded on a rollback and taken to the Ford dealer for repair. In the afternoon of February 8, the Ford dealer service individual advised me that the steering box assembly was defective and would not be available for installation until Monday February 11. Fortunately the loss of steering event happened in my driveway and not when the vehicle was in motion.
Power steering went out while driving vehicle making steering near impossible.
The car was parked, when the ignition was turned on, I noticed the loss of power steering, and a service message appeared stating steering assist fault, service required.
Multiple times the car suddenly lost all power. Engine shuts off, power steering gone and all the warning lights on the dash light up. This has happened on expressways, city streets and country roads, each time impeding the flow of traffic and people don't respond well to me when this happens. I have come very close to being hit by other cars. Each time I have pushed the starter button to shut it off even though it is not running and I wait a few minutes. I then restart the car and it seems to function again, for a while. The dealership wants to play games about this issue, " not doing it for our technician". I see loads of complaints just like mine with nothing being done. Come on, it's recall time,,,before I, my wife, family or someone suffers serious injury or death because of this known problem with the ebt assembly in the Ford Edge.
I was starting to drive on the busy street at about 30 mph when of the sudden the vehicle slowed down to maybe 5 mph within 2 seconds, mind you my foot was pressing the gas pedal at the time the car lost speed, light comes on, something to do with hill assistance, then the wrench light come on, luckily this happened just before the intersection and I decided to go to the left turn lane. I was able to pull to the side of the road at a 2-3 mph speed, turned the car off and back on with no problem, drove it home. This morning (7:00am) I drove my car to the Ford dealership in town, explain the issue to the adviser, she said sounds like the throttle body. They worked on my car, got the phone call around 3;00pm that my car was ready I picked up, this is what the invoice says: 4722 defective etb. Light off, obtain p2111, perform a datalogger road test and make a recording. Review recording. At time of power loss etc actual ande desired way out of spec, t/p readings are erratic and full of spikes, install a new etb, clear code and road test, engine runs good, full power, light off and no codes return. Will see how this works. . . .
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with a lane keeping system. While driving approximately 65 mph, the steering torque stiffened while changing lanes. As a result, the vehicle moved one lane further than was needed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to page 20 of the system manual for the exact function of the lane keeping system. The failure recurred. The contact wanted to return the vehicle for a refund. The failure mileage was 1,036.
I purchased a brand new 2015 Ford Edge on 12/29/15. On January 19, 2016, the abs break system went out and it took 2 wks to fix. This happened when I was 4 hours from my home and had to leave it at a dealership then drive 4 hours back to get it. Ford could have cared less. Yesterday(5/24/2016),I was driving down the highway at the speed limit (70mph) when suddenly my vehicle's gas pedal stopped working. I immediately felt the car DE accelerate and tried to press the gas pedal to keep up with traffic. However, stomping on the gas pedal did nothing to increase the speed. There were cars slamming on their brakes and swerving to go around me. I was in the left lane of a 3 lane highway and many cars and 18 wheelers began swerving to pass me on the right. It was extremely difficult to coast to the shoulder. The power steering seemed to be limited as well. There were 2 near misses with other cars and it could have been a very bad crash. I turned the vehicle off and back on and made it to my destination. But, this happened a second time on my way home in the dark. I took it in the next morning and used all back roads but even at a lower speed, the same thing happened twice. Ford now tells me that they are having problems with the "throttle bodies" on the 2015 Edge and the part is backordered. Therefore it could be 2-3 weeks before my car is repaired. I purchased this car in December of 2016 brand new off the lot, less than 6 months & less than 7k miles later I experienced an extremely dangerous equipment failure with no warning. Ford customer svc does not seem the least bit concerned that their customers are not only inconvenienced by this issue, but could be killed! what is wrong with them? does someone have to die to get their attention. I am still expected to pay Ford moter credit on the car. However, I am unable to drive it. Once again, does someone have to die?.
