Power Door Locks Not Working Problems of Ford Edge

Door ajar light stays on when doors are definitely shut tight. Sometimes the door locks will not automatically lock when the car is put in drive. Sometimes the dome lights stay on which can be a problem at night.

I have been having numerous problems with the passenger side door latch always reading that the door is ajar. There is no amount of force shutting the door that makes it go away. I am aware of the problems that have been going on with several models of Ford vehicles. I consider this a hazard for several reasons. The door locks will not automatically engage. For the entire vehicle because of this, potentially causing the doors to open if there were any type of impact. There is also the random locking and unlocking that occurs which makes my vehicle impossible to secure. I want to file this complaint in hopes that Ford will correct this problem from their end and not charge the consumer a minimum of 500 dollars per latch for a fix that has not been guaranteed.

Door latch switch malfunction causing door ajar warning when door is closed and vehicle is in motion. Door locks will not lock and child safety rear locks do not engage (child can open door when in motion). Child has not fallen out the door yet. Am getting it repaired at my expense because it is a safety issue.

Driver door will not lock. Door ad jar message on dash. When you manually lock the door they immediately unlock. Can not keep doors locked. Tried locking door before starting engine but doors unlocks as soon as car starts even before car is in motion. This happens almost all the time the car is started. I just drive with the error of n the dash board "put car in park" and an occasional audible sound.

My door ajar light started coming last week and won't go off. I an positive the all doors are closed. It is very disruptive while driving, when the vehicle slows at signal lights, in intersections or in traffic the alarm comes on. Also, I was in a completely dark parking lot with people and cars moving around and the interior lights wouldn't go off. I could not see outside because of the interior lights. The door locks will not function in this state either. Someone could have easily gotten into the vehicle with me. Help!.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving at any speed, the dome light remained illuminated. Also, while idling at any stop, the vehicle beeped and the door ajar indicator illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the door locks did not lock. The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The door ajar light remains on with the driver's side door, and now also the rear left door, when the doors are closed causing the interior light to stay on and making the door locks inoperable. The light staying on causes several issues. . . Battery drain and the inability to lock the doors. This happens approximately 90% of the times now. It started around 47,000 miles and continues now at 52,000 miles (with the addition of the rear door doing it also at this point). It started over the past few weeks. Start the car and the door ajar light comes on and stays on regardless is I open and close the door harder. The doors remains unlocked at all speeds, please do something before one of the thousands of Ford vehicles (several model years and several models) is involved in an accident where some child is thrown from the vehicle because the doors opened. My 2011 Ford Edge with 28,000 miles just dropped out of the three year warranty and the door ajar warning came on after shutting my car door and would not go out. The door was shut, but the sensor still indicated the door was not closed. As a result the auto door lock would not engage and interior lights stayed on. This problem got worse over time and now the door ajar indicator never shuts off. This is a big saftey issue in that the doors do not lock as they should and if the door does happen to be ajar you would never know. I believe there is an existing service bulletin(TSB 14-0011) on this, but it should really be a recall because it appears to be a pretty common problem with many Fords. I guess Ford is waiting for someone to fall out of a moving car and get hurt before they issue a recall. Instead Ford had me pay over 600. 00 to fix the issue just out of warranty.

The driver door says its ajar but actually is not, so if driving at night the dome lights are on witch is dangerous and the door locks will not lock if the vehicle system thinks it ajar. I think this should be recalled cause it is a safety issue #1 doors won't lock. #2 interior light won't go out if driving at night.

I've contacted Ford and they have not provided a response. I have three children under 9 and the doors not locking automatically is a significant safety risk and it has been a know issue for over 4 years and Ford has even issued a service bulletin regarding the problem.

The drivers door the door ajar light , the switch is sticking causing the door ajar light and interior lights to stay on also the door locks will not engage. Saftey issue. Have had to repair or replace this switch twice since 2012 at a cost of ore than 500. 00 dollars. Dealer says they know about the problem but since no recall all they can do is repair or replace over and over again. I know this is a model problem just check.
