7 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2016

My vehicle was serviced for recall that was issued. The recall was for the subframe rusting through where it meets the control arm resulting in steering failure. My vehicle had this problem under way and was rusted through to the point of separation. The dealership performed the recall and installed a "brace" on the subframe but advised that the vehicle was not safe to drive because of the separation, which is exactly what the recall is designed to prevent. The dealer stated that since the failure/separation had already begun they could not repair it and gave me the vehicle back in a condition which is "unsafe to drive", according to the word of the dealership. My concern is that my vehicle is experiencing the safety issue for which the recall was issued and the vehicle manufacturer will not resolve the recall issue.

8 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2016

Passenger rear wheel well has completely rusted out and shock and mount have rusted and broken off of frame. While driving the vehicle on a village street, hit a rough patch of road by a manhole and heard a terrifying noise, then it sounded like the back of the car was going to fall off. Upon parking and inspecting the vehicle, the broken piece was pressed against the rear tire, and had rubbed some of the rubber off in the short time it was driven afterward. Research shows that frame corrosion seems to be a common problem with the vehicle, and there was a recall for corrosion on the front end. It seems that it should be for the entire frame, and rectified before accidents and injuries occur. My vehicle falls under those date and state parameters, yet the VIN # is not included for some unknown reason. Front recall: Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2001-2004 Escape vehicles manufactured October 22, 1999, through January 23, 2004, originally sold, or currently registered in, connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia. These vehicles may experience excessive corrosion at the forward attachment of the lower control arm. Consequence: a separation of the lower control arm can result in a significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install a newly designed reinforcement cross-brace, free of charge. The recall began on may 30, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Ford¿s number for this recall is 14s02.

12 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2014

I have a 2004 Ford Escape . I received a recall notice for a corrosion issue with the sub frame where it connects to the lower control arms . I haven't had an issue with it yet and was planning on getting the recall work done within the next couple of weeks . On 8/02/2014 when I pulled in my driveway I heard a loud clunking noise coming from the rearof my Escape . When I look in the right rear wheel well I could see an 8 inch area around the shock mount had rusted completely through the shock mount was no longer attached to the vehicle . I'm shure this could have caused a accident had I been driving down the road when it happened . I did a google search and found an endless list of people with the same issue . I called my local Ford dealer and was told they could do the recall work on the front of the vehicle but there was not a recall for the rear wheel well /shock mount . I can not believe there is not a recall yet for such a serious and common problem . Please look into this situation . I work for Ford and this makes me sick , they should not have to be forced into implementing a recall for such a serious problem . Ford should issue a recall on their own before someone is hurt or dies from this problem . This is a control item and Ford should be held accountable !.

While my son was driving he heard a loud clunking noise came from back of the car. He stop , pull over and take a look to see what happening and when he look in to the rear wheel well he see it was damaged badly . He made appointment to take car to Ford dealer to check it out . They checked it and told him that the shock mount had rusted completely through the shock mount and no longer attach to the car, they told him that he should not drive it because it could cause bad accident and very dangerous . He asked them about the corrosion recall which I got a letter from Ford but they said the recall is for a corrosion with the sub frame where it connect to the lower control arm and nothing about the problem my car having . They told him it will cost about $3000 to have it repair . I am very upset about this , the car only 10 years old . I check on line to see anyone has the same problem with 2004 Ford Escape with the same issue I could not believed that there are numerous complaint about same issue and it caught my eyes that most people had this problem at the same period of 10 years . I want to see the government should force Ford to have a recall before someone get killed or hurt . Ford should stand behind their quality if they are trying to hide this problem they should be punish to the extend of the law.

Failure Date: 01/01/2004

Vehicle brought into repair shop and found that the engine cradle and was rotted considerably. A recall notice on this problem was sent to the customer and customer took into bright Ford, inc for the recall. Repair was done several months later and returned to customer may 16, 2004. Three months later we again have this vehicle in the shop and upon inspection the lower control arm bracket rotted off of the cradle and caused the lower control arm to be only mounted by the rear bolt. This car is considered a hazard to drive due to the right front tire movement not being controlled by steering. Brighton Ford on their invoice #19744, found the front sub frmae rusting through on right hand side. Sent quote for new sub-frame and were denied and they were told to put this cross brace on the vehicle. This repair is not in line with the repairs that were needed. The vehicle cannot be driven at this time and brighton Ford says it is your responsibility to determine repair. This was not a safe repair and knowingly told customer that it was repaired.
