1 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2015

The sub-frame rusted through causing both front wheels to toe out and also to camber in at the top. The abs warning light also triggered. The steering now pulls to the left and there is tire squeel even on gradual right hand turns. There is a recall for this exact problem for the Ford Escape model years 2001-2004. It is obvious that this same problem exists for this model year 2005 Ford Escape. I verified that my VIN was not covered in the recall. I then called Ford to see if they would remedy the problem as it was obvious that this was the same problem as in their other recall - they said they couldn't help. This is a low mileage, well maintained vehicle so it should be obvious that the sub-frame is faulty.

2 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

The upper shock mount on the rear passenger side rusted right through and fell off which cut my breakline which could've led to a fatal accident. I also have a child, this is extremely dangerous and should be recalled. The system check and abs light never came on either.

3 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 35 mph, the abs caused the vehicle to slide even when the brake pedal was depressed. The abs light illuminated after the failure occurred. The dealer diagnosed that the front passenger side tone ring malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 57,736.

4 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Abs light came on. 4wd light started blinking. There was a grinding noise coming from the wheel/brake area of the vehicle. The abs light remained on but the 4wd flashed and then turned off. It came back on intermittently and flashed several times. There seemed to be no functional problems with the brakes or wheels.

5 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

Abs light suddenly came on and I had to press the brakes almost all the way to the floor to stop the car. I pulled over and turned the car off. When I started the car back up, there was no abs light or service engine indicator. Mechanic said that I need to replace the master cylinder and possibly the hcu. But they don't know if that will fix it.

6 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

In Aug 2012 we were on our way back from a vacation and our abs light came on, along with a flashing 4x4 light. We had no idea what it was or what to do. The vehicle drove fine and stopped fine, except for a couple of times it felt as if the abs engaged on dry cement. We stopped to eat and shop for a few hours and the lights were off when we got back in the vehicle. They didn't come on again until a few days ago (Jan 2013). However, I had been complaining to my husband recently that the brakes didn't seem to work right. I hit ice and the abs didn't engage . . No light either. . But the grinding sound once in awhile was still there. So we took it in and put it on the computer to diagnose the problem. Came back with 2 codes u2023 and c1234. Which means the right front tone ring is bad. After searching the internet, I found this to be a very common problem. Also got under the truck and sure enough the tone ring is cracked and spinning around loosely. The safety issue here is the abs will lock up randomly on dry cement when you start to apply your brakes. Which then you can't completely control your vehicles direction and if you take your foot off the break to control your vehicle, then you may hit someone or something. I am thankful for all the info I have found so when it gets repaired they can't screw me over.

7 Brake Abs Warning Light problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2007

Purchased 2005 Ford Escape in March 2007 with about 80k miles. Within the month, the abs light began to intermittently come on. It is now September 2011 and the problem still occurs and has not been solved. Had obd ii diagnostic codes tested. No codes found while light is on or off. Manually turning off the light is only temporary. There are no physical problems with the brakes. Ford should have this recalled. Please note that when abs light is on, there is clicking that can be heard and felt through the brake pedal while braking. The vehicle is slow to stop.
