Ford Escape owners have reported 1 problem related to parking brake linkage and cable (under the parking brake category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford Escape based on all problems reported for the Escape.
Approximately every 8,000 miles the parking brake on the manual transmission, inline-4, fwd loosens and must be taken to the dealer to be tightened. Thus far, this has occurred twice. While parking on a hill this is a safety concern, especially since the clutch no longer holds the vehicle in place after 17,000 miles.
