Parking brake came on by itself when parking on a dolly.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse, the vehicle made a howling noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was also emitting a clicking noise when the brake pedal was depressed to shift out of park(p). The failure was intermittent. The contact's spouse, an independent mechanic, stated that it seemed as though there might have been a failure with the parking brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the howling noise while the vehicle was shifted into reverse due to not being able to duplicate the sound. The dealer stated that the clicking noise while depressing the brake pedal was diagnosed as a parking brake failure. The vehicle had not been repaired due to not being covered under recall or warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed that the repairs were not covered by a recall or warranty. The failure mileage was unknown.
The vehicle was parked in a flat parking lot and the parking brake failed. The first time, the parked car rolled backwards and hit a sign. No person was injured. I thought that pehaps the pedal was not fully depressed. The second time, about 3 weeks later, the vehical rolled backwards and hit another vehicle. I had to call the insurance company and file a claim. I intend on bringing the car to the dealership, however after doing a bit of research on the internet, it seems to be a common problem, and I wanted to make sure to report it, because it has the potential to be fatal.

The parking brake on our 2007 Ford Escape does not work. We took the vehicle to tiffany Ford on February 18, 2009 to be adjusted. The vehicle has 26,000 miles on it. The service manager stated afterward the brakes were in good shape and he did not understand why the emergency was not adjusting. Within 2 weeks the brake has become loose again and we will be taking it back to the dealer for a second time.

This is the second time the button on the emergency brake on my 2004 Ford Escape limited edition has broke. The first time was fixed under warranty, this time Ford is refusing to fix it for free. This is safety equipment that has failed twice on a SUV that is less than 3 years old.

The consumer had the brakes checked and was told the brake pads separated, and that was why she was not able to slow down the vehicle. The parking brakes froze once the brakes were on and the consumer was unable to release the brakes without getting under the vehicle to pull the cable.

9-1-04 my 2005 Ford Escape was parked in the garage of my home where I began to back up. There was an obstruction in my driveway so I put the car into drive and pulled 1/2 way into the garage to clear the way. I put the car in park, opened my door, took off my seatbelt and got out of my car walking towards the rear. Suddenly the car accelerated in reverse knocking me down because of the open door. I jumped into the car (where my children were in the back seat) to place the car in park-it was in park and rolling fast. I used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle with the help of the open door jamming along side the garage wall. The end result was shoulder and collar bone damage as well as sever body damage caused by the open door. If the door had not been open, my children would have rolled into oncoming traffic and been hit head on. I am positive something is wrong with this new car, yet the galpin van nuys Ford dealership has refused to inspect it for safety. They insisted that I first file a claim with my insurance carrier, which I did and still have been refused the safety inspection by Ford and the dealership level and the corporate level. I want to ensure I am driving a safe car and this problem will never happen again.

Premature failure of front brake rotors on 2001, 2002 Ford Escape/Mazda tribute SUV's. Evidently the rotors are insufficiently hardened and wear very rapidly, requiring replacement at 35,000 mile intervals. If replacement brake pads were installed without replacing the rotors. Rotor failure could result because of too much rotor material being worn away. Ts.
