Vsa Warning Light On Problems of Ford Escape

Today, 1/29/2020 @ approx 755am I was exiting s bound k-7 onto college blvd in olathe KS. There is approx 1/2 inch of slush on the ground. I was going about 45-50mph and approximately 100 feet from the intersection when the light turned yellow and I tried to stop. My breakpedal started vibrating and was not able to be depressed. The stability light on my dash lit up. I slid uphill over 50 feet and into the intersection. I had no ability to stop. I was powerless to control the speed of my vehilcle because my vehicle's system overrode me as a driver. No accident occurred but that only because the other cars had noticed my lack of control and didn't enter the intersection. Again, I had no ability to prevent an accident because the stability control overrode my driving ability. As soon as I skidded to a stop the esc turned off and I was able to drive, steer and break appropriately. No police report was filed because no accident occurred. I hope there are traffic cameras and recordings of this. I intend to trade in this vehicle today to zeck Ford in leavenworth KS, where I bought it in July 2016.

Air bag and stability control light on. Dealership found restraint control module short circuit. This is the same issue report back in 2014 campaign #14v597000. Seems issue was not addressed correctly.

Driving on the interstate at 75 mph during morning traffic during rain covered road. My traction stability and abs warning lights are on again. I was driving to a doctor appt and saw the warning light come on. I applied light pressure to my brakes and gradually came to a stop. My car has 115,000 miles when fail happened.

I was driving in town at a slow rate when my braking feel like there was born abs and my car was getting to close and I applied pressure on the pedal but it wouldn't stop. My steering wheel became very stiff and couldn't turn it. An hour later, I was driving on the interstate when my abs, traction control light and stability light came on. My car would not turn well and I was in the middle of passing a vehicle. I had no brakes at that point. This happened April 20, 2019. Clear road conditions. My Escape is becoming a big safety concern. When braking I feel my system keeps slipping in the front end and a sagging in the rear. When I drive it, I am terrified that this will happen again and won't be able to stop. Turning feelings rigid and stiff at times. A car had pulled out in front of me and had to do a hard stop on the interstate. I pressed on the brakes but the system would not stop and steering wouldn't allow to turn. I had to turn a harsh right to avoid causing an accident while attempting to drive off to the side of the road. This has happened since the 1st day I purchased this vehicle 26 may 2016 from glenbrook Hyundai in fort wayne, in.

I was cruising at about 35-40mph on city street. Suddenly the motor practically quit. The vehicle immediately slowed down to about 5 mph. The "stability control" warning light came on. Luckily, there were no vehicles behind me on that 9:20 pm Sunday 7/24. The problem was solved after doing what the manual advised: turn off the motor, restart (after a few minute at least, I found out). The next morning and after starting the motor, the check engine light came on. I had Ford dealership check the vehicle that morning.

Driving down the road, turned down a busy street, wheel locked up. Completely frozen, took an incredible amount of strength to turn into a parking lot to safety. Restarted car and it was fixed. Happened again later that day going down the highway, steering wheel locked. (it's like I have no power steering at all, but it is all electric). The wheel has continued to lock at random times, with no warning what so ever for 20 (twenty!) more times, I have documented them all. Nothing provokes this happening, like turning, going up or down hill, slow speeds, nothing, it just happens out of no where. This is extremely dangerous, numerous times I have been in very heavy traffic with no outlet available for me to turn into. It has happened waiting at a stoplight in a turn only lane, but I can't turn the wheel. It has happened again while in the middle lane of a busy highway and I've had to very forcefully angle the wheel so I could get on the shoulder. The wheel unlocks after you restart the car. My stability control light turns on every time the wheel locks. I have done research this is a known problem, hundreds of complaints and Ford is doing nothing about it. From what I have read, you have to replace the entire steering column (a $1,300 fix) due to a faulty switch. This is extremely dangerous and I could very easily wreck if it happens in a bad time or bad location. I have had numerous very close calls already and I am afraid to continue driving every day. Ford needs to recall this immediately.
