I was driving on the interstate with my 2 year old and 4 year old in the car. I had been driving for about 45 min at interstate speeds, then slowed down to about 5-10 miles per hour due to traffic. All of a sudden, while slowly moving in traffic, a tone sounded, a red triangle appeared on the dash and the message center showed 'stop safely now'. The engine turned off, so the car stalled and stopped itself for me with no time to react. I was stuck in the middle lane of a 3 lane interstate and the car would not restart. It just kept the same message 'stop safely now', with the red triangle displayed. Eventually a road ranger assisted me to the side of the road by pushing my dead car while in neutral. I let the car sit and cool off over night and then was able to restart it in the morning with no issues at all. After reading online, the failure sounds identical to other Ford Escape Hybrid problems with the failure of the motor electronics coolant (mec) pump. There was a recall that covered my vehicle model production year model and location of production, NHTSA recall no. : 14v-526 manufacturer recall no. : 14s19. However, after inquiries with nhsta and Ford, both have told me that my VIN is not covered under the recall. There is no explanation that either entity will provide as to why my specific vehicle, with the same production date, location, and model as this recall, does not fall under this recall. I was never notified of any recalls when the recall was initiated either, if this had occurred less than a minute earlier, it would have caused a major accident and only by chance it occurred when traffic was moving slower, leaving time for other drivers to react to my stalled vehicle in the middle of the interstate.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to gary yeomans Ford (1420 n. Tomoka farms road, daytona beach, FL 32124, (386) 274-6700) to be diagnosed and repaired. The contact was informed that the coolant pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v526000 (hydro propulsion system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,927.
While driving, a warning light came on stating " safely pull over and stop now", the vehicle stalled out, no power at all. I pulled over and after a few minutes restart it. Everything sounded fine. I talk to a Ford dealer whom seem not to know what caused it. I have an engine code p1a0c (etb), from my actron@ device. I started to have it fixed but I went online and found I'm not the only person with issue and the solutions giving by the dealer's service have been all different I'm not sure if any of them fixed the issue. Some have stated that their vehicle stalled out while on the highway. I'm not sure if it is safe to drive on the highway.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the stop-safety warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted after ten minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure or produce a fault code. The contact was informed that the failure could be related to the throttle body needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 210,000.
The vehicle stalled and lost all power to the engine with a "pull over safely" sign while on the freeway back in September 2013 wherein I was told to have the cooling part for the hybrid battery replaced. I was told the part was faulty. The replaced part had to be replaced again that same week by another dealership with Ford. Fast forward to today, and the same red triangle warning lights appeared and the part needs to be replaced again. The warranty for the part is only for 2 years, but after 3 years with the part, the dealership is telling me it needs to be replaced again. I find this aggregious in nature and a racket that Ford is taking advantage of their customers. The make and model were a part of a recall specific to this very issue, but my specific VIN number was not included in this recall, so I'm out of options for Ford to address this issue themselves, telling me that it is out of warranty and they will not assist me with the replacement/costs and now I'm expected to come out of pocket again for the same issue. The original situation occurred while traveling 70mph on the i5 southbound near lake elsinore, CA in the hov lane on the freeway, and two days ago it was stationary and could not be started after driving it that morning after sitting for one hour.
"throttle body recall" issue, but for some reason I'm not covered car stalled, then restarted, then went into limp mode 2 miles later. Then on Aug 4, 2016 throttle body completely failed and I limped back to dealership (fugate Ford) where it is awaiting repairs but I am told my VIN isn't on throttle body recall code 2112 Ford notice 13n03.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and several warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Also, when the brakes were applied, the brake pedal would be very stiff, and the vehicle would skid. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fan was changed in the hybrid system; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and the stop safely now warning indicator illuminated. After two minutes, the vehicle restarted normally. The contact also stated that the failure occurred approximately six times in four months. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired. The throttle body was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Was told part was limited and as long as no problem they were unable to get part. ( also asked in Jan- no change. . In Feb the vehicle started stalling numerous times. After then having the car 3 days. Was told they no longer am able to get the part. Took it back twice more and am now being told they are no longer making the part . And my vehicle continues to stall. - is there a number to call at Ford to see why no part. .

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. While driving approximately 35 mph, the high motor temperature and stop vehicle safely warning lights displayed as the vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the motor electronics coolant pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.
Driving 65mph on interstate, yellow wrench light appeared on dash, vehicle lost power during rush hour. Forced to cross three lanes of 65mph traffic going 5-10mph (limited by vehicle's computer no matter how far I pushed the gas pedal. ) after shutting car ignition off and restarting, wrench light still on. Shutoff ignition again, removed key, opened door (into traffic) to completely shutoff electronics, radio, driving lights, etc. Restarted vehicle and wrench light was now off. Proceeded to drive with the vehicle surging faster/slower as I drove. A diagnostic code dtc p2112 was retrieved indicating "throttle actuator control system - stuck closed" which is covered under extended warranty by Ford customer satisfaction program 13n03 in response to NHTSA’s office of defects investigation (odi) action number : dp12006. When I contacted Ford about this they responded that my particular VIN was not covered. The Ford customer satisfaction program 13n03 extends the warranty for the throttle body to 10years 150,000 miles. My Escape Hybrid is 5 years old with 86,xxx miles but they say it is not covered. Why? I have the defective part number throttle body 9le-bc installed in my vehicle since new, which has been superseded by part number Ford oem # ds7z-9e926-d and, which Ford is installing under this program to replace my defective part. Why am I being denied warranty replacement when I meet all of the criteria they have listed? during a call to Ford 1-800-392-3673 on 6_23_2014 I was told that they do not know why my particular VIN vehicle is not covered even though I meet the criteria for the replacement, however they can positively confirm that it is not covered. I was further told that I can bring the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis, but there will be a diagnostic fee I will be required to pay even if I do not authorize any of the repairs that may be needed.
Vehicle gasoline engine power quits with no warning. I have experienced this only when driving on the highway and only when driving for more that approximately 20 minutes. A "pull over safely now", or words to that effect, appear on the information screen. The electric engine will continue to work if it has charge. The car will restart almost immediately, but will quickly stall again if the engine is not allowed to cool down. This is very dangerous as it occurs only at high speed.
4/29/15 this escape was purchased 8/17/12 delivered with 35 miles, presently at 17532 was scheduled a week in advance, and to be serviced on 4/06/15, verbal/written consent to repairs. The mileage was 17532 at the time of delivery to inver grove Ford, an authorized Ford motor CO. Dealership. Please note, the vehicle has only been serviced at authorized Ford dealership's, and current in service records. Rear view camera, (works intermittedly) with black squiggly lines when vehicle is in reverse. Still under warranty. The moon roof has leaked and 3 attempted repairs were made within months of original purchase. The leak caused stains to the interior roof. The moonroof has never seeded properly and is under warranty. The electrical driver cockpit is unstable and works with periodic shortages. A Ford authorized/Ford part, remote starter installed, interior roof cover does not fix properly, was damaged with at time of the Ford part being installed at a Ford dealership. They tore the front hood, replaced it with a non fitting roof interior cover.

Ford Escape Hybrid 2007, about 75,000 miles. On three separate days over the past few months car has stalled while driving. Usually happens after driving for longer periods on freeways. On each of the three days after stalling once it stalled again several times, going about 40mph. Dealer and mechanic could not find anything wrong. After reading complaints pretty sure its a mecs cooling pump problem.
Car stalled out while driving. It happened 3 more times before I took it to the Ford dealer who told me it was the throttle body.
Driving 40 mph and my car just stalled. Car stuttered, quit and wrench light came on. Luckily it was a Sunday morning and roads weren't to busy. I coasted to a side road, pulled over, waited a couple minutes and restarted. I just bought this used 2010 Ford escape limited a week ago. I guess I should have googled the vehicle sooner. :(.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled. The contact also mentioned that a red triangle illuminated with a message to stop safety. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic diagnosed that the service harness needed to be installed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
I just finished a right turn and accelerated to continue down the street when my vehicle began to shake and then suddenly stalled. Then engine continued to rev up/down as I tried to get my vehicle to move out of the traffic lane but it would not go in reverse or drive. When I put my vehicle in park, then engine continued to rev up/down for almost half an hour before being shut off.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled with the illumination of a red triangle on the instrument panel warning the contact to pull over. The contact later took the vehicle to the dealer where it was determined that the motor electronic coolant system failed and caused the failure. The dealer stated that this was known issue that the manufacturer had not corrected. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 62,000. Kmj.
I traveled aprroximately 2. 5 miles when the car stalled, stopped operating and I had no power to the drive train. The air conditioner and radio still worked so I still had electrical power. I was able to coast to a stop but it was dangerous traffic. I turned everything off and the car restarted. It was initially sluggish but I traveled the next 3 miles home. Drove it to dealership. Dealer test drove it and it stalled again. Dealer analyzed it and said the car had a bad throttle body. New part will take a month to get and I can't drive car.
I had noticed over the weekend that once in a while when I pressed on the gas pedal it would rev up but not go anywhere while I was going down the road. On Monday, I was on my way to the dealership and was taking a left through a busy intersection when it went into a bit of a stall. This was a very dangerous situation. I was able to turn it off, then turn the vehicle back on and when the dealership (bell Ford) called they said it was the throttle body and it needed to be replaced. I did some research online and it seems this is a rampant problem with other Ford escape owners. I only have about 62,000 miles on this vehicle and it makes me very angry that this problem has not been a recall issue considering how many people have had this issue. This is very dangerous and a recall should be sent in to correct this issue!.

On 4 separate occasions, all occurring at highway speed after at least 40 minutes of driving on a hot day, the car's engine suddenly cut off, causing the vehicle to lose speed rapidly. A red triangle warning light appeared on the dashboard with the following words: "pull over safely now and turn off engine". All 4 times I was driving around 65 mph on an interstate. All 4 times the car started again normally after a few minutes. After the 3rd incident, I started the car again soon, and it stalled again after 10 more minutes of highway driving. First incident late July 2012, then late August 2012, and twice on June 19, 2013. This is a terrifying experience, and I was extremely lucky not to be rear ended. The dealer claims it cannot duplicate problem or see any codes in diagnostic computer, refuses to pursue. Help!!!!.
Driving for about 30 minutes at highway speed and the gas motor shuts off and goes in to limp mode using only battery hybrid power. The car won't restart motor while rolling. The dash shows a message to pull over and stop with a little red triangle. In order to restart the motor you have to completely turn the key to the off position. The car will immediately start back up and drive between 1/2 to 1 mile then shuts down again. Repeat process again and again until got off the highway. Once off the highway, I stopped with the motor shut it off for approximately 15 minutes and the car started back up and operated normally. Drove an additional 30 miles with no problems. No issues for about three weeks then same scenario of multiple stalls on the highway. Car worked fine the following day. No engine lights or codes. The first incident occurred while raining. The second incident occurred at night when it was dry.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and a warning light advising her to pull over illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact restarted the vehicle and the failure recurred. The vehicle was in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the stop safely now warning message illuminated. The contact shut off and restarted the vehicle, and it vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed that the vehicle did not display a failure. The failure recurred several weeks later and the vehicle stalled. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where unknown repairs were performed however, did not rectify the failure and the contact was unable to restart the vehicle when the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure and current mileage was 79,750.
I was driving my 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid on the high way and it stalled 3 times at high speeds. "stop safely now" came on dash. I did tons of research and this is a huge problem with the motor over heating. Ford had backorders up to nearly 900 coolant pumps last year. This is very scary because you just lose power in the middle of he highway. Toyota just recalled theirs, why has Ford not been on this. It is all over the internet. I am bringing my car in to the dealership with printed research and a letter of concern. I am blown away that so many people have had this issue with the stalling at high speeds and Ford has done nothing. This is very concerning.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a manufacturer¿s recall. The failure mileage was 35,000.
