39 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2000

There is a "crack/tear" on the upper side wall that I discovered on 8/28/00. I took it to firestone and was informed that it was caused by road hazard; I don't feel comfortable with firestone's response and am worried that it is a defective tire. I have not been involved in a crash with this tire but the "crack/tear" on the tire makes me worried about the safety of my vehicle. ( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).

40 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2000

This tire is not a part of the national recall, however, the tire was beginning to separate and the local firestone distributor replaced the tire under the "warranty". I wanted to inform you of the failure of this model/size of the firestone wilderness at brand. ( dot number: tire size: p25570rr16 ).

41 Tire problem

The front two firestone wilderness at p255/70r16 tires on my 2000 Ford Expedition have the steel belt showing through the tread at several places. Interesting that these tires are not 15" and did not come from decatur!( dot number: w2cu1rd369 tire size: p255/70r16 ).

42 Tire problem

43 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2000

Firestone recall doesn't address all tires sizes, only one size. I can not see why only one size would be affected. I feel that a total recall of all sizes in the affected series should be done. Anything lees seems to be an attempt by a major business to pacify washington at the expense of the consumer. Please encourage firestone and Ford to reconsider this recall. Until this is done, I cannot feel confident transporting my family in my 30 day old, 2000 Ford Expedition with 17" firestone wilderness at tires. ( dot number: tire size: 265r75-17 ).

44 Tire problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2000

This is my 4th new Ford vehicle that I purchased and second Expedition (last one 97) I never had issues with tier separation in my life. On this vehicle I had 2 tires separation in 3 months. I have not received acceptable response from Ford dealers (new Ford vehicles have 1 year/12 months warranty on tire) and most of the dealer would not even accept the standard warranty. Firestone dealers refuse to do anything for me. Earnhardt Ford replaced one of my tiers and I am going to replace remaining tiers at my own cost (with different brand). This not acceptable from my point of view. Ford should pay for my cost. . This is my last Ford vehicle. (tiresize: 265x70x17)( dot number: tire size: 265x70x17 ).

45 Tire problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2000

Pe00020, original equipment, 2000 Ford expedation, all four tires pressure keeps lowering, and causing the vehicle to pull to right, and it is very hard to control vehicle. The dealer suggested to inflat front tires to 30 lbs rather than manufacturer's specification and it worked.

46 Tire problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2000

Road conditions: dry, flat, little to no traffic. On hwy 249 just north of spring cypress, where the hwy ended and became a 4 lane flat hwy. Approximately 4:00-4:30 in the afternoon. Back passenger tire on 2000 Ford expedtion, firestone wilderness at, tread separation causing a blowout, and causing me to veer to the right side of road. Was able to get vehicle safely to shoulder and in the driveway of a Dodge dealership. Approximate speed was around 45-50 mph. No driver error, no road hazard (no rips, tears, punctures, etc. Found on tire) and tire was not over/under inflated. Looked as if someone with a scapel just removed the side flat part of the tire where the lettering is from the tread portion that touches the road. Luckily I was at a speed that I could control in good driving conditions with little traffic in the area, or I could have had a serious accident. I had to use all my strength to keep wheel to the left as the truck continued to go to the right. Firestone dealer did not want to replace for free (as stated under my warranty), but they did eventually. They acknowledged there was no driver error, road hazard, or tire misuse, but refused to state on the receipt the cause was a flawed/faulty tire. Replaced with the same type of tire. Vehicle only 7 months old with around 7000-7500 miles on it at the time. Tread on tire was around an 10-11 I believe the firestone dealer said. Firestone dealer kept the faulty tire to send to manufacturer for testing. ( dot number: ).

48 Tire problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2000

Tire went flat for no discernble reason with 200+ miles on it. Firestone dealer was unable to determine why it would hold air. I replaced it with a brand new tire at my expense. ( dot number: tire size: 255/75r16 ).

Dealer replaced firestone tires with goodyear tires. Goodyear tires could not be balanced, or were out of round. After trying ten goodyear tires the dealer put on b f goodrich tires. The 17" goodyear replacement tire is very poor quailty and causes the vehicle to virbrate at highway speeds. I will be sending nsta copies of letters I wrote to Ford and the dealership. Thank you. 54 Tire problem

Firestone has issued a recall on only one size of the failing tire, what about the other sizes? the 265 come on my Expedition, it is made with the same design flaw, manufactured at the same factory, why is no one addressing or admitting to anything but the 235. 235's are the most popular size used thus the reason from them showing the leading failure rates. The other size tires are no different, just not used as widely but firestone will not even consider the possibility or admit other tires are flawed. Please in the interest of my families safety and millions of other look into the failures of other size firestone wilderness at tires that are should be recalled. ( dot number: tire size: p265x16 ).
