36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

At the present I have a vehicle that can not be driven. The low brake fluid alarm and light came. So I stopped purchase some brake fluid and fill the master cylinder up. Not 5 minutes later the alarm goes off and low brake fluid light is on. Now I have no or little brakes. Brake pedal goes straight to the floor. Too dangerous to drive. My vehicle is now in my drive way after another bottle of brake fluid and slowly driving home. Don't know where the fluid is going don't see any on the ground. I was told my vehicle VIN # was not included in the recall.

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph the brake warning light illuminated and an alert flashed that break fluid needed to be added. The contact had to slow the vehicle due to traffic and had to depress the brake pedal nearly to the floorboard to come to a safe stop. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed that the break master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 22v150000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

38 Service Brakes problem

The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,871.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2022

While driving with two of our younger children, our 18 year old daughter noticed the brake warning light came on and the brakes failed to the point that the pedal had to be depressed completely to the floor to get any braking power, which was considerably diminished. After taking the car in to the mechanic, we learned we needed a new master cylinder and brake booster because the original set was defective. We also then learned of the current related recall for 2016-2017 Ford Expeditions (NHTSA recall no. 22v-150) yet our VIN is somehow inexplicably excluded. We had the repair done (see attached invoice) as otherwise the vehicle was unsafe for driving. We are just grateful that no one was hurt as it was a terrifying experience. The recall needs to be expanded immediately before someone is seriously injured, or worse.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at 30-35 mph, the brake warning light illuminated. The contact continued driving. The contact was able to drive to his residence. Upon opening the hood to determine the cause of the failure, the contact noticed that there was no brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoirs. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated to NHTSA campaign number: 22v150000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

53 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2021

Vehicle has 124,058 miles. On this date - oct 14, 2021, brake pedal got soft, audio and visual warning saying low brake fluid level. Luckily was just slowly pulling into driveway after driving at 55-60 on us 341. Checked brake fluid level. It was indeed very low. Added dot4 fluid. Drove vehicle slowly in back area and depressed brake pedal several times. Pedal still not quite right. Thought maybe had air in lines. But soon audio/visual warning came on. Checked brake fluid level. Low again. Looked underneath for any obvious leaks - none. Check fire wall - nothing. So assumed fluid was going in to booster. Looked on internet and found other complaints just like this. This is extremely dangerous. Has anyone been killed yet? the brake parts need to be built like aircraft parts.

54 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2021

Brake failed in parking lot and vehicle crashed into another car. A low brake fluid light came on and very shortly (1 minute) after the brake failed completed. Vehicle was serviced at dealer two months ago. Contacted Ford corporate and Ford dealer. Ford corporate said there is nothing they can do. Ford dealer unresponsive. This is a major safety issue. I have never heard of real issues with complete brake failure on a newer car. Very dangerous.

58 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2021

Wife started car. Pushed on the brake to put it in gear. Brake pedal went to floor. Checked master cylinder. Cylinder was completely empty. Brake fluid leaked past seals in master cylinder into the brake booster, then got sucked into engine and burned. No warning lights came on at all. . Luckily wife was at the pool down the road from our house when it happened. She drove 5 mph back to the house. A four year car should not have a faulty brake master cylinder. Master cylinders should last for at least 10 years. Ford has a major problem brewing.

61 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2020

Exiting the 215 northbound, we stopped and parked at a store. While parked the indicator light came on for low tire pressure. I did not pay that much attention because the car indicator light has come on before and the car had recently had its routine maintenance check. When driving was resumed the car began to wobble. Assuming we had a flat, we attempted to drive to a more illuminated area to inspect the car and call road side services. The car at this point was beginning to decelerate almost to a stop so I inched car onto an unpaved area. I assumed the car's slowing and stopping on its own was a safety feature. As I pulled to the side of an unpaved city road, I had my foot on the brake but not in the parking gear. The car was stationary as my sister exited the car and to inspect the tires. The right rear passenger tire was fully deflated. My two daughters were about to get out of the car so had unfastened their seatbelts. This is when the car made a quick sudden jerk forward, I pressed my foot on brake to make sure the car was at a complete stop and that was when it felt like a force had pushed the car to top speed, an sudden unintended and forceful acceleration. I attempted to brake but I had no control. I was trying to avoid hitting the pole, but also had no control over the steering wheel. The car collided with a water valve/pole and chain link fence at top speed.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The contact stated that upon releasing and depressing the brake pedal once again, the vehicle responded as intended. It was unknown whether a warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that the auxiliary plug had failed to function as intended, and there was no electrical charge upon plugging in a phone charger or usb cord. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera image was distorted while the vehicle was in reverse(r), which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recalls repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

63 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

Breaks failed due to master cylinder failure. Had repaired locally as car barely made repairs shop blocks away after adding break fluid. Was told since I did not use authorized Ford facility I could not be reimbursed for repairs. I see a recall was issued for my model year but no recall for my vehicle. It had same problem. If a forced refund is possible I’d be interested. This was in 2019 but still have $823 invoice.

64 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2018

Below please find my account of a very frightening event that took place when my 2017 Ford Expedition malfunctioned. In late August, 2018 we were on vacation in seattle, wa. , visiting my son and his family. Five of us were in my Expedition and my son was driving. We pulled up to park by his house on a steep road. He put the vehicle into park, applied the parking brake, removed the keys, and proceeded to get out. There were three adults and two children (ages 7 and 4). All three adults got out and were helping the children out when the car rolled forward on its own. I was out of the vehicle on the passenger side. I tried to hold the door handle to stop the vehicle from rolling but it took off. My son who was outside of the vehicle also realized what was happening, jumped back in, and applied the brakes to stop the car. It rolled about 12 feet downhill before he could stop it. The two children were still in it. The street was on a very steep incline that I would guess to be about 25 degrees. If my son had not stopped the car it could have rolled about 100 yards through two intersections and into a house with the two children in it. I don't even want to think about what could have happened to them. We took the Expedition to a Ford dealership in seattle (Ford of kirkland) to get it checked out. They stated that they could not find anything wrong. After returning home from vacation, we took it to the local dealership (bolton Ford, lake charles, la. Where it was purchased new) and they said that they could find nothing wrong. What do I do now? can Ford explain what happened and reassure me that it will not happen again?.
