When driving during normal dry weather the traction control randomly comes on when it shouldn't and has caused the brakes to fail and the vehicle not stopping when the brakes are pressed. I have have owned the vehicle only 7 weeks and have had this issue with the brakes occur on 3 occasions. Luckily, 2 of the times I was in a rural area but the 3rd time I was on a busy city street and ran through a red light narrowly missing having an accident. Each time this has occurred my speed was below 45mph. I did some research on this issue and found several blogs online of people with the same problem. In these blogs the individuals stated that the Ford dealer was unable to identify or duplicate the problem in each blog that I found with this problem. Many of these blogs were several years old so I called my local Ford service manager who indicated he knew nothing of this problem and it would be difficult to diagnose since the traction control does not retain faults. My local service manager gave me a number to Ford who I called and described the issue. The person I spoke with could not find anything regarding this issue and could only advise me to take it to a Ford service location to check out. In the blogs I did read where one individual was told by his/her Ford service center that a Ford engineer would be coming to assess the problem. This is a serious issue. As I stated, I have owned the vehicle 7 weeks and had the traction control to cause the brakes to fail on 3 occasions. The date below of 8/24/2020 is the date of the 3rd occasions.

At 1000k miles the electrical panels on the car lit up like a christmas tree. When it was pulled over and placed into park, it jumped. We called the dealer to be told it was a glitch and would work itself out. The next time, we took pictures and they misdiagnosed it twice. The third time, they saw it and did a bandaid repair and now say they have to dissamble and rebuild the car's electrical system, including dropping fuel tanks and other major components to get there. They are evaluating whether or not they "buy back" the car and we take a large depreciation hit and the months it took to repair it. It was 1000 miles when it happened and they should have offered a full refund. Now we have a car of questionalbe integrity, they did not let us know how bad the problem was at the bandaid repair stage, and now want to charge us for a factor defect. This is after we bought a truck that developed the Ford "death wobble" and returned the vehicle at a loss. We had a suburban for 20 years and no issues. Ford, while facing multiple lawsuits on many cars, will not own up to factory mistakes. 3 misdiagnosis and then a bandaid fix without accountability of how extensive the problem was with the vehicle. Ford corporate did not ask for pictures and refused to give us email address contact information for the legal department. Ridiculou.

Start out driving, then emergency brake, abs, and skid control warning lights all come on. Also says, check brake system. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle Ford really needs to take care of this.
Today as I was driving on perry rd about to turn onto fm 1960 rd e. When I started to accelerate to turn, my transmission down shifted while I'm driving at about 15 miles an hour instead of going up and jerked my car pretty good. I let go of the gas pedal for a second, then tried again slowly. The car started to jerk as if it was struggling to accelerate forward. It did after about 10 seconds. Then the speedometer dropped down to 0 and my digital fuel information that's displayed on my dash dotted out and a screwdriver icon flashed for a few times. The car then started to move smoothly, but seemed stuck in gear. This followed with the tmps sensor kicking on. No check engine lights showed up during this period and when I got to where I was safe, I turned the car off for about 15 minutes. When I turned it on again, it was perfectly normal. This has happened before while I drove on a major highway and it is scary. No diagnostic test has found an issue and I cannot afford to pay for an exploratory service as I just did a coolant repair a couple of weeks ago.

As I was driving on the highway, the speedometer stopped operating and fuel info malfunctioned. The tpms sensor light came on as well. I turned the car off and back on to find it was all working again.
Was driving on the freeway and vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating and a wrench flashed on the dashboard. I could not speed up. I had to find an exit right away. Was riding with a close friend all 5 of my children. Very very scary.

Ford vehicle shuts off sporadically with multiple warning lights while driving and stationary. The brakes also seize up to the point where they over heat and could catch fire. The most recent event happened may 15th after picking the car up from my local repair shop to try and repair what Ford dealerships has not been able to repair. It shut off on the way home. May 16th the brakes locked up. This issue has been going on for a over a year. My vehicle has been to several repair shops and was recently at auto nation Ford in union city GA for over a month awaiting a part that never showed up. I picked the vehicle up and took it to another local shop that was able to secure the part and replace it, but that still did not fix the problem. So far, I've spent upwards of $8000 in the span of a year and the issue still has not been resolve. Repairs from brake pads and rotors to the calipers and hydraulic system and even a full 4x4 transfer case asymbley so far none of the repairs has worked. It has shut off in the past while driving to work on the express way in heavy traffic areas. This vehicle is just unsafe to drive. I searched the internet and found other videos of Ford owners that are also going through this issue with the same results. I have video which is the best visual since there are multiple warnings that pop up.

As soon as you start the vehicle the battery symbol displays on the dash, it goes on and off chiming repeatedly, then switches from battery symbol to wrench symbol and then my entire gauge cluster starts. Every light goes on and off repeatedly, the rpm gauge and mph drops to zero and the engine clunks really loud (while driving), the ac or heat will completely turn off and on, the headlights flicker and dim on and off at night while driving, bad vibration, loud growl type idle sound, the radio shuts off, when you turn the heater on it repeatedly clunks in the rear of the vehicle until you turn ac on again or shut it off, rear air suspension light goes on and off while driving. This all happens whenever it wants. I shut off the car and restart and the problem will stay gone and drive normal until it cools again and then restart the vehicle. This vehicle has been tested at 3 shops and turned away by all because they don't know where to start as they are scanning the vehicle and 17 codes came up. They started testing each item with a code and all came back as functioning properly. So I believe it's either electrical or one of the brains/computers of the vehicle?. It is becoming a safety concern and I need help.

Ford recall on explorer model regarding the vehicle not recognizing that the shift gear is in the parking setting, therefore the key is unable to be removed. . . Also rendering the vehicle unsafe considering that since parking isn't enabled the vehicle may roll resulting in injury or death. I would also like to add to the records that this is the third time I've experienced this malfunction in 3 different model years including 2012 and 2008. I would also like to report that the automatic running boards have become dis engaged in the motor and only work randomly which is also dangerous when entering vehicle.

The steering is very loose and hard to keep on road, I called Ford headquarters to see if it was under recall and they said not my VIN was included. I also have a problem with the o/d light blinking. My transmission shift great until the light starts blinking. I think it is a bad cruise control sensor. I read where a lot of those shorted out and started fires.

Vehicle downshifts while driving at different speeds. Panel reads, flat tires, no fuel, no gauges will work. I was pulling out of a gas station on a major hwy, I gave the vehicle gas to enter the lane, as I was approaching a higher speed , my vehicle downshifted and the vehicle behind me had to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting me in the back. Another time at a high rate of speed on an interstate , as I was switching lanes, my vehicle downshifts almost causing another wreck. If it had not been for car seats, my grandchildren would have hit the floor. If it had not been for the other drivers quick actions, people could have been injured or even worse dead. After a few more incidents, I find out a recall for this problem was made, but not on my vehicle . Same year, same model, same factory, just not my VIN! recall 16s19- NHTSA id# 16v248000 . My vehicle has 74,000 miles on it, so it is not covered under a warranty. Notice I'm attached picture. 0 mph, but look at the 2000 rpm. Check engine light on. I have a video of it doing this several times.

Two weeks after purchasing my car I attempted to start it one morning. I got in the car and proceeded to put my foot on the break pedal and push to start. When doing that the engine did not start and the lights were flickering. I got out of the car took the key with me and the lights still flickered on and off. I had to get it jumped to take it to sun stare Ford. Who stated nothing was wrong with the car. I also have issues with the parking aide. I will just be driving (steets or highways) and all of a sudden the parking aide will go off. I am no where near any cars. It does it speratically. It scares me and now I am not sure if when the sensors on the side view mirrors are on if they are correct when attempting to switch lanes. I can't trust that when I am backing up or parking what the sensors are beeping at. This happens almost every time I drive the vehicle. Again I took the care to sun stare Ford and again no resolution and no explanation. Just laughed and said I don't know.

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph that the vehicle down shifted into first gear independently with the power train sensor warning light illuminated. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 16v248000 (power train), however the recall remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was serviced at legacy Ford of mcdonough located on 413 industrial blvd, mcdonough, GA, 30253, where the next day the dealer was contact and informed. The contact was told to bring the vehicle back in. The contact informed the dealer that she was afraid to drive the vehicle due to the failure. The dealer informed the contact that she could take the vehicle to any other Ford dealer to diagnosis the failure. The contact then called a closer local dealer, courtesy Ford, located on 1636 dogwood dr se, conyers, GA, 30001, where the vehicle was taken. The contact mention while driving to the second dealer the speedometer dropped to zero, there was a jolt, and the vehicle would not incline pass 30 mph. The second dealer informed the contact that after having the vehicle for a week that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but the manufacturer did not offer any further assistance under case number: 12629998. The contact also inquired on a loaner vehicle which they declined due to no diagnosis available on her vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
Twice I've been driving and all of a sudden I lost power and "electronic throttle control" message came on. Accelerator would not work, coasted to the side of the road-- 2nd time in heavy traffic!! both times I turned off engine and restarted ok, but I'm scared to death to drive with my children in the car. Driving straight on city street both times.

Stability control applies brakes randomly in normal conditions. Primarily this has been at slow speeds. Brakes pulsate and vehicle is difficult to steer/control. On 12/11/2016 the stability system kicked in at the same time the "resume" button was pressed for the cruise control. The front brakes applied with force as the car was trying to accelerate to 70 mph with the cruise control. The vehicle began to fishtail and the transmission locked up. I was able to get the car to the side of the interstate, but the vehicle behind me had to swerve into the median to avoid hitting me from behind, and the driver in the right lane was forced to brake to avoid me. The vehicle was travelling at approximately 67 mph on interstate 85n in south carolina. This problem had been reported to my Ford dealer, but they "could not find problem" in service dept.

Vehicle converted to stretch limousine by imperial coach in springfield, mo. The method of conversion caused the side curtain airbags to be permanently disabled causing the vehicle to constantly display the airbag light on the dashboard. This conversion also hampered the traction control requiring the driver to turn off traction control prior to operating the vehicle to avoid difficulty maneuvering around turns. These operating deficiencies are only on the vehicle with VIN# 1fmjk1f52aea14943. We were aware of the situation when we purchased the vehicle however, we have sold the vehicle "as is" at auction but it appears that it is being "flipped" by several owners. We are concerned for the safety of this vehicle with an unknowing operator.
Fuse relays keep burning out! I have brought over 10 relays in 2 weeeks. I have done my research and this is a common problem with all 2003 Fords and is very exspensive to fix. I was shocked to find that it has not been recalled! there are videos on you tube to prove that all of these trucks have this problem. I was told I had to replace the entire fuse box but eventually I will have the same problem out of that fuse box because thus is a defect in all 2003 Ford Expeditions. The car cuts off while driving and has almost caused me to be in 2 very dangerous car accidents! it has stopped on me on the highway and street! when I saw that this is a very common problem with the fuel emmision relays and the fuse box I decided to file this complaint in order to get this recalled!.

I have a 2005 Ford Expedition and have maintained my vehicle maintenance and only have 124,000 miles on this vehicle. It continues to shut off the engine and code fail safe mode on code appear and when I'm driving on the highway it is dangerous. After reading so many complaints this is unsafe. Also, the computer issues with locking doors, failure of the transmission (which I had to replace) such a disappointment of a vehicle. Ford should recall engine and computer issues. I purchased this vehicle brand new $50,000 + and have not be able to depend on the stability since I've had it.
When driving at normal speed, once vehicle has stopped for stop light it begins to shake badly. Also when in park it shakes, the motor seems to be rattled by standing still. We carried it back to the dealer for service it still has the same issue with the shaking. On city streets. If stop for light it shakes. We had the vehicle since November of 2015, aren't able to drive it much because of the shaking. Afraid to drive ,feel unsafe for road travel. Shakes with a loud noise, such as rattling noise, or vibration. Has continued for as long as we've had the Expedition.

While driving on the highway at 70 mph, the vehicle just suddenly lost power and shut down. I managed to get the vehicle to the side of the road. After a few minutes it started and I continued on, after a few miles the same thing happened again. I got it started again and was trying to make a rest stop a few miles away. While pulling into the rest stop the vehicle lost power again and resulted in a collision because of no steering or brakes. The loss of power happened 8 times that day. While looking for answers about the problem, I found on the nhtsb website that other vehicles of the same make, model and year also experienced this same problem that turned out to be a problem with the fuse block. I took it to a Ford dealership to have it checked out. They said it was a fuel pump issue. That would not cause a loss of power. I took it to another mechanic who did find that it was indeed a faulty fuse block. The same mechanic told me that this was not the first time they had come across this problem. This is a dangerous condition that needs to be rectified before someone loses their life in an accident because of this. The loss of power occurs without any warning or check engine lights or codes.
My passenger window and both back windows have dropped several times. I have had to have this fixed more than once on the back passenger side window, what happens is ill try to put the window up and the window motor makes a struggling noise and I am unable to roll up the window. At this point I'm sure it must be a defect because of how it has happened to each window more than once. Also the bumper that goes around the entire car is extremely faded and I am unable to get fixed I have gone to get estimates for a pain job but have been told due to the material it is just going to fade I would need to get it sanded and have them do some special treatment I cant afford and they will not just paint over it for me because they guarantee there work and would have to redo it too often. All the Expeditions I see have the exact same issue.
Cars traction control kicked on causing car to sputter and shake like it was trying to get out of deep snow or ice but incident happen on dry ground 76 degrees outside.
Dry payment, shuttering and pulsing in steering wheel. Applied brakes and traction light stayed on until I turned truck off.
Abs light and esc light come on although there is no apparent problem.
The car stalled while turning no warning at 25mph start and shut does it 6 times going home.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition eddie bauer. The contact stated while driving 60mph, the vehicle shut off with out warning. The contact discovered the electronic throttle control warning light illuminated after the vehicle stalled. The vehicle did restart and the problem has recurred two times. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer has been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103000. Ss.
After engaging the 4x4 via the dashboard control knob the "service advance track" message was shown in the instrument cluster. The 4x4 was disengaged and the vehicle was then stopped. The indicator lights for the abs, stability control and 4x4 were then illuminated on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was restarted and at this point all stability control, anti-lock brakes and other powertrain safety features were completely inoperable and/or disabled. The vehicle was serviced and a failure of the wheel speed sensor was noted.
I was driving down the street, going about 10 to 15 mph and while driving I had not light on my dashboard indicating any problems all of sudden my 97 Ford Expedition makes this crazy sound and completely turns off. I was not able to start the truck up again so I had it towed. After two day past I tried starting the truck up and it would not do anything.
I just purchased a 2001 Ford Expedition eddie bower edition and the front end squeaks. So I accessed this site and found several complaints about the same condition. After reading these complaints, I am worried that mine will do the same thing. I'm considering parking the vehicle and never using it again. Someone needs to force Ford to recall these vehicles and have them repair the problems before someone gets hurt. To have the front end repaired on my Expedition would cost at least $1500. 00 or more. I am on disability and cannot afford these repairs. This is a manufacture defect and needs to be addressed as such. All vehicles are supposed to be designed with the safety of, not only the passengers in mind, but also other vehicles on the road. The cost of the repairs to Ford motor company would be minor compared to the loss of life and to the damages to humans and vehicle(s) in an accident. I don't want to get rid of my Expedition, I just want it safe and to be repaired properly.

Lemon! 2006 Ford Expedition beginning of June it started "bogging" down while driving. We took it to autozone, misfire. Took it to a mechanic we know and he told us the codes showed 6,7,8 sparkplugs. Trying to save $. This helped a little, started doing it again but worse, this time it was decelerating we were going 75 & check engine light started flashing & bogged down to 50 on the hwy almost cause several wrecks as I tried to pull over to the side (with my kids in the car) took it into the mechanic & other spark plugs coil packs & 1 injector got it fixed picked it up & didn't even get down the road & it did it again. This time check engine light went off after flashing. Took it back to him & no codes couldn't find anything. Went hm & almost got in a wreck again! it decelerate to 45 after going 70. We went hm, next morning going to take it back to him again!! while driving, a/c turned off, door sensor alarm fail popped up, another sensor fail, &pulled over put in park & wouldn't come out of park. Called mechanic, after so many look overs thinking it was pcm, security module, he gives up after 2 wks of working on it. We get it hm & start looking on here & find so much about this like its going in safe fail mode without shutting off. Start looking at all the other forums & this yr model had 362 complains on another site & many on here, several of this same deal. We started with fuses #5 blown, change blows immediately, change again blows again. Start chasing wires, change again starts up. Okay great!!! now rough idle, way bad who cares it starts! drive it to work, we desperately need my car & Ford cant get to it for 1 1/2 months. Starts stalling while driving again a/c shuts off and slows down. Ford needs to fix this before it kills someone! this is a major defect that will kill! I have found this same issue on this same site a lot! why isn't anything being done? help!!!!!!!!!.
I am having various electrical issues ranging from check engine light going on periodically with codes not stored when checked, on, dome light in the car not turn on when driver door opened, radio not working when key is in on position, dash lights go off intermittently. One night during a very heavy rain storm the alarm went off and we were unable to disable for over 30 mins. Had to remove the battery for the beeping to stop. When we checked the next day, inside the vehicle was a puddle of water on the dashboard & droplets were coming from the top drivers side of the windshield. Also noticed that water was streaming down from inside a handle on the frame by side of the windshield on driver side. Unaware of global windshield/seal issues with Ford we proceeded to have the windshield replaced. At the time we were unaware of any additional damage. Shortly after while driving we began to experience various episodes of the car revving itself up, as if it was in control of its own speed, making it difficult to control the car. During these episodes of acceleration the car temperature & oil gauges registered at overheated levels & many times the dash lights would go off. In this case I pulled over and turned the car off. After a couple of minutes when I turned the car on, the car was back to normal as if nothing had happened. Typically when this happened although the check engine light was lit, when I took the car in to be serviced by the dealer I was told no error codes were stored in the vehicle. This vehicle continues to self accelerate and rev up intermittently. At present I need to have the car smogged for renewal but the vehicle system readiness test register incomplete and there are no faulty codes listed. I have read that various owners experience these conditions which has been caused by water leak into the fuse box and the gem due to the windshield seal failure.
Driving at approx 35 mph on dry pavement. I approached a 2 way intersection with one stop sign. Traction control light illuminated and vehicle would not stop. Brakes were pumped multiple times with no change. Vehicle went through stop sign and off the road eventually coming to a stop naturally without the assistance of the brakes. Vehicle was placed in park and traction control light went off. Brakes were then pressed again and brake pressure was felt. If a vehicle would have been coming though the intersection a serious crash could have occurred.
Out of the blue the vehicle starts braking really hard, making loud banging noise, and shaking. It used to be once in a great while but now it's everytime I drive my vehicle ,sometimes I can't stop my vehicle. This is very dangerous in traffic. I've taken to the Ford dealership multiple times yet my problem persists.
I was driving my 2007 Ford Expedition merging onto the freeway, the traction control light came on, the vehicle then started to shake and shutter, at that point the vehicle started to slow down and applied pressure to the brakes while it made a rattling sound, it lasted less than a minute but felt like an eternity. While I was afraid, I eased off the gas to let it slow down, then I tried to apply light pressure to the brakes to avoid being in a accident, then the vehicle picked up and responded as normal. This has happened on 3 occasions. Very frightening!!! my mileage is only at 44,900. 00 when it first occurred my mileage was around 38,000 miles.
