Tire Tread/belt problems of the 1999 Ford Explorer - part 1

1999 Ford Explorer. Consumer writes in regards to firestone tires (pr. 15. 75) recall on vehicle. The would like a list of all the firestone tires that were recalled. The consumer believed the tires he had on his vehicle were defective, which caused him to have an accident in 2007, in which the SUV rolled over.

My 4dr 1999 Explorer rolled over one time due to a possible defective goodyear wrangler p235/75r 15 on right rear when it lost tire pressure when I made a left hand turn on a dirt road causing minor injuries and totaled it. I was charged with endangering the welfare of a child which is my three yr old nephew because this tire caused me to roll my truck - it was a accident by dunklin county in kennett, mo.

: the contact stated; two of the continental tires purchased for the vehicle had tread separation from the belt. The first tire failure was on 7/17/2006. The second failure occurred on 9/1/2006, while traveling 50 mph on a highway in clear dry conditions, the front of the vehicle began to vibrate. The vehicle was pulled off the road, and the right front tire was replaced. The tire was taken to the sales dealer, where the dealer informed the contact the warranty was expired on the tire. While driving 40 mph right rear tire experienced a tread separation. Goodyear wrangler ap, aftermarket equipment, tire size 265/70r16, dot# unavailable. Goodyear was notified.

While driving 40 mph, the right rear tire tread separated. This was the replacement tire for the tire recall 01t016000.

Driving on highway and I started feeling the whole truck bounce, I went to the tire shop to find out. The tire was separating from the tread or spliting down the middle. This has happened twice and now a new one that was bought to replace one of the old ones is also beginning to separate.

While driving, the left front tire tread separated and blew out, causing extensive damage and injury to the consumer. Delta sierra radial, 2,387 miles on tire . Firestone recall replacement tire.

As I was driving 45 mph the front tire blew out and taking the car out of control these tires has a recall by Ford and these were changed by firestone in sept 2000. . My wipes neck has been injured. . The tread is great but the bet inside let loose.

Pe00 020; rear tire tread separated from tire. General tire, 15inch. Dealership was aware of problem.

While driving about 20 mphm left front tire had a blowout with no damage to vehicle, tire was replaced. Then, while driving about 40 mph same place where other tire was also had a blowout, side of tire separated, damaging vehicle. Firestone wilderness at tire, p255/70r16, dot vdcu19x.

Consumer could hear a noise on left front firestone wilderness at tire p255/70r16, technician found tread separation and offered 4 new tires at 50% charge, however consumer had them replaced elsewhere with a different brand, dot# w2cu1px398.

Consumer heard noise from the left front tire, vehicle was taken to dealer and mechanic found tread separation, firestone offered discount, however consumer replaced tires with a different brand, tire size p255/70r16, dot w2cu1px398.

Vehicle puchased 10/27/99, after vehicle was taken to another dealership to check a noise, owner was informed that all four tires were included in recall 00t-005, tires have been replaced.

Firestone, wilderness, p235/70r16, dot- vn, original equipment with 23198 miles; left rear tread separation in cold weather. Tires are not part of recall.

While driving, consumer heard a popping noise, she pulled vehicle over and found the right rear tire had experienced tread separation, which also caused damage to the vehicle, consumer feels firestone should be responsible for the tires and damages to vehicle.

Firestone wilderness at tire p235/75r15 dot w2hl1py229 experienced blowout, consumer states there was a loud roaring noise and vehicle was very hard to steer, tires were not part of recall and consumer is requesting reimbursement, consumer states there was property damage.

While driving, started to slow down to exit and right rear tire blewout. Vehicle started to vibrate. Pulled over and stopped to check tires, right rear tire had lost part ofit's sidewall and tread had separated. Replaced tire with a spare. Still has original tire. Firestone, wilderness ht, p225/70r15 with 22,000 miles.

Pee00 020; vehicle was in shop for repairs. Mechanic stated that all four tires were showing tread separation. Left front tire was showing more tread separation. Also, fifth tire had tread separation. There was no injuries.

Most problems have simply been a nuisance, especially on top of the six recalls on my vehicle. Including 5 recalled tires which took two months to replace and showed serious signs of tread separation. However, four days ago while driving on the highway, the gas pedal became lodged to the ground. I reacted by putting my foot under the pedal and pulling it forward. The pedal then fell off and became lodged under the brake pedal. I was lucky to get off the road safely.

Washing rims of vehicle & noticed that tires had cracks located where tread meets sidewall. Cracks are on all 4 tires. Took to firestone retailer & had tires checked thoroughly. Mechanic indicated to go to another firestone retailer. Had no more tires. Went to Ford & no tires there for exchange. Went to another tire retailer & informed by mechanic all the tires are normal. Firestone, wilderness at, p265/70r17 with 15,000 miles.

Noisy firestone wilderness at tires were replaced under recall 00t005, consumer was not satisfied with the replacement tires as they were not the same quality of the tires being replaced.

Pe00 020; consumer was traveling 55mph on highway, and said that vehicle didn't feel right. There were cracks all around vehicle. Firestone wilderness#at, p2357515 #dot w2hl. Consumer has notified firestone.

Firestone wilderness at tires (p255/70r16) experienced cracking between the tread, the consumer is requesting reimbursement even though they are not included in the recall.

Vehicle parked. Been checking tires everyday. Notice slits all around the tires near the tread & the casing. Tires were manufactured in canada. Firestone wilderness.

Firestone tires were included in recall 00t005, consumer only got part of the reimbursement and wants the difference.

Consumer took firestone wilderness tires p235/75r15 dot vdhl to firestone dealer who filled out the recall (00t005) refund form for consumer, however consumer has not received any reimbursement for faulty tires.

Pe00 020 ; two weeks ago left front driver's side tire was deflating. There was a leak inside of the tire. Also, he has contacted firestone, and the attendant put him on a list.

After having received a recall notice on the firestone tires took vehicle to have the tires replaced. But they couldn't replace them immediately. Consumer had to wait about four weeks to have the tires replaced. Firestone wilderness at, p235/75 r15.

Pe00 020; consumer's tires are peeling. Consumer will send more/ additional information. Firestone wilderness#at tires. Consumer was inside of the Ford dealership. A lawyer in front of consumer also had firestone wilderness#at tires peeling, and Ford service person told her that she couldn't replace tires because they were not from #dot vd plant. Her concern at this time was to recall all firestone tires, to do the right thing. There were other tires peeling that were from other tire plants.

Original equipment on a Ford, Explorer 1999. While traveling at 50 mph driver's side rear tire blewout on its own, no road debries. Tire did have 30 pounds of pressure. Firestone wilderness at p235/75/r15.

Consumer was unable to have firestone tires replaced in a timely manner and purchased five new tires from a competitor, consumer request rimbursement. Nlm.

Consumer replaced tires prior to recall notice 00t-005 and request reimbursement. Nlm.

I believe tire blew-out causing a 90 degree turn which then rolled over totaling the vehicle( dot number: ).

While traveling at 70 mph and without any indication tire tread separated .
