Frayed wiring under the passenger side second row seating. This is causing the airbag light to be on and will not allow that airbag to deploy in an accident. Ford is aware of the problem and that it is a common issue that they do not know what causes it. Completely unacceptable for a family vehicle to have this issue and the manufacturer not take care of it. We do not believe this vehicle I safe to transport or have passengers in the back seat now.
Air bag light came on around 58,000 miles. Got it diagnosed by mac haik Ford pasadena. Dealer said it was an issue in the airbag wiring harness under the rear seats and falls under TSB 16-0001. The air bags throughout the car will not deploy because of this major safety issue.
Air bag light came on on the display. Took it in for diagnostics and it was determined to be a wire harness that needs replacing, until almost 900 dollars is spent to have the wire harness replaced all airbags in the vehicle are inactive. This is an issue numerous Ford Explorer issues face and it is pretty close to being held hostage by Ford. Seats and carpeting have to be removed for the wire harness to be accessed, this is a design flaw at best as users can't really access it so how could they harm the system? it is absurd that to have working airbags in our vehicle we have to spend anything if we didn't commit any error, nor is there any real protection if it were to happen again. This is quite a large safety concern, I've seen countless complaints online with this issue and was told by the service advisor at Ford we have people come in for this all the time.
Air bag light came on and would not shut off. . Went to dealer . . . It was defective wiring plug under 2nd row seat. . . $1059. 00 to repair. The air bag will not work without it. This is a common problem with many years of Ford Explorer. They should have to pay for the repair. It is a safety problem !!!! light stays on whether the car is moving or not.
Defroster broke at 92000 miles mid driving leaving me to drive with foggy windows. Blend door actuator broke for passenger side leaving hit air blowing in one side cold air on the other turbo blew at 87k miles back up camera does not work engine misfires air bag light on steering wheel shakes.
When the 3rd row seats are moved by the power button, the air bag light on the dash comes on. There is an electrical short.
Air bag light constantly stays on. Windshield pillar came flying off at 70 miles an hour.
My air bag light is on and won;t go off so I took it to a Ford dealership and they told me that the back air bags wire were loose and it wold cost me $600. 00 to connect them back.
Airbag light staying on. Dealer diagnosed rear seat issue and $911. 00 to repair. Ford issued TSB 16-0001 due to it being a common problem. Due to the high cost of repair some customers do not have the repair completed resulting in an unsafe situation. Since this involves an important safety issue a mandatory recall should be required so the manufacturing defect can be resolved.
My airbag light came on and when I took it to Ford dealership I was told it is in the wiring and estimated cost is $1000 to fix meanwhile until I can afford to fix it I have no airbags in my Explorer not safe for going into winter and having grandchildren in my SUV.
Check airbag light is constantly on my 2015 Ford Explorer. Took it in to get checked and the problem is faulty wiring to the middle row seat belt airbags. The fix isn't covered because my car is out of warranty and the fix is $800. Nothing related to the airbags should ever fail and if it does, should be covered regardless of warranty. There may not be a concern with having my rear seatbelt airbags not working, but because the light is always on, I have no way of knowing if there is a fault with my front airbags. When I asked the dealership if this impacted the front airbags, they couldn't confirm nor deny, they said they didn't know. Ford has known about this issues since 2015 when they first issued their technical service bulletin, TSB 15-0113 which was then superseded by TSB 16-0001 in 2016. I called Ford corporate customer service line and they refused to recognize this is a safety item that should be covered.
Dtc b141b, air bag light intermittingly comes on. This issue was reported 2x while under warranty but by the time I would drop at dealer for repairs the light would reset so they couldn't see issue. After warranty expired the light came on more often, and today they were able to see indicator and get dtc. Since it is out of warranty now, it will cost me $750 to get my air bags fixed. I questioned why it cant be fixed because it was reported 2x while under warranty. It is almost like they didnt try to find problem until after warranty expired. Now I don't have working airbags on an expensive Ford Explorer sport. This is making me concerned if Ford has poor wiring harnesses because these vehicles have so many electronic components. Guess I'm sol. I will try to replace this sub par wiring myself tomorrow.
The airbag light came on and this is what the code says. Restraint control module second row driver side inflatable seatbelt deployment control.

Airbag indicator light came on. Goes off intermittently but is on more than it is off. Took vehicle to dealership. They ran the codes and indicated it was a short in the wiring harness under both left and right passenger seats in the second row. The dealer indicated that without repair it was possible the entire airbag system would not function properly.
I've recently noticed my airbag light on in my vehicle dashboard. I ran a scan tool but nothing is being picked up by the scanner. Not sure what I need to do next. I've only owned the vehicle for a few months now. Its used but doesnt look like its been in any accidents. I did just have my car cleaned at a car wash and they cleaned out the car. I wonder if they hit the wiring under the seats trying to clean the 3rd row seating area?.
Captains chair behind the driver's seat, seatbelt would no longer connect. Seatbelt receptacle had to be replaced, now airbag light is on at all times.
The airbag light came on while driving and remained on (stationary and in all driving conditions) at about 61,000 miles while on a road trip. The car was taken to grapevine Ford in grapevine, TX at 62,654 to be diagnosed. The cause was second row open harness with codes b141b and b141c. Check oasis found TSB #16-001, applied to repair. Per TSB, repositioned harness and replaced connectors. Per TSB, cleared codes. The repairs were covered under cpo warranty with $100 deductible.
Air bag indicator light stays on.
Airbag indicator light illuminated when operating vehicle. Dealer indicated that it is a wiring connector problem, but not covered under basic extended warranty. Known issue with a TSB 16-0001 issued to fix problem. This should be an considered as a recall as a safety issue as it is not a "wear & tear" situation.
"airbag recall "the airbag indicator light came when I put the key in the ignition to start vehicle about two days ago.
The airbag light is on again. I had this in for service on 1/31/17 with 31,455. Now the light is on again. From what I understand my airbags will not work.

Airbag light has come on for the second time. The vehicle is currently at approxi mately 62,000 miles. The previous time the airbag came on was for defective seatbelts with the airbags in passenger compartment. Also, a smell of sulfur is coming from the air vents when the air conditioning is on. The smell is strongest when the car is stationary. When the car is traveling at highway speeds without a/c on, there is no odor.

Rear airbag light keeps coming on, even after dealer repaired twice. Now not under warranty. No accident!.
My airbag light use to come on and stay on for a few weeks. Not the airbag light stays on 24/7. The dealership won't look at it for free since SUV has 68,000 miles on it. It has been an issue for over two years. My 2015 isn't part of the recall but needs to be.
