1 Door problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2024

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the "liftgate ajar" message was displayed. The contact's husband pulled over and inspected the trunk, and the trunk was properly closed. The contact's husband then became aware that while opening the front driver's side door, the keyless entry keypad had detached. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.

2 Door problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

The keyless entry door panel on the driver’s side door is coming undone and vibrates while driving. Others have said theirs has come off the vehicle while driving. Will be contacting the dealership.

3 Door problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that all four doors were corroded. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the mechanic diagnosed that the door pillars were rusted and was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 55,895.
