Traffic came to a slow down almost a stop vehical did the same low oil pressure message came on and stalled with my kids on board. She had to put in park and restarted the vehical in the middle of the highway posing danger to other motorist and most important my family. Something needs to be done before something bad happens to someone that could have been prevented by a recall and further investigation. Thank you for your cooperation.

44 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

My 2011 Ford Explorer lost power even though the engine did not die there was no power when pressing on gas pedal. The yellow wrench light came on the panel. I turned the ignition off and waited a few minutes and it restarted. I took it to a dealer and they couldn't get anything to register. I picked the car up anyd before I made it home it lost power again. I took it back in and they still couldn't get anything to register. They replaced the ba sensor fir $500 since my air filter was dirty and could be the cause of problem. A week later the car stopped again. It happened again a few days later and then it stalled 4 times in one day and the engine light came on and stayed. I borrowed a code reader and the code p2111 appeared. I googled this and it shows throttle body. Each time I lost power it did not die but ran rough. When I restarted it was a little hesitant to start. At first it happened when I accelerated after going at a low speed but then it happened while traveling 70 mph.

45 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

On two separate occasions, the car stalled after DE-accelerating to a stopped position and made a "clunk" sound from the transmission area. During the first event at a traffic light, a very noticeable "clunk" was heard that sounded like the transmission. The car was re-started and seemed to drive normally. To be on the safe side, we brought the car to the dealership to have it checked but they could find nothing wrong. During the second event at a stop sign, another very noticeable "clunk" was heard from the underside of the car and the car actually shifted so that it was felt by the body. After re-starting the car this time and placing it into drive, this time the car did not move when pressing down on the gas pedal. Instead, only the engine revved up. In addition, when putting the gear into the reverse or drive position, that loud "clunk" sound and the physical shifting of the vehicle also happened. Because the car would literally not go, we called for a tow-truck and took it to the Ford dealership. At the dealership, a customer care rep and a technician came outside to look at the car. When putting the car into reverse and drive, the same "clunk" and shifting of the vehicle was observed and acknowledged by both men. However, at this point the car would move forward when applying the gas. We left the car at the dealership for evaluation. When following up early the next week, ,we were informed that they had driven the car about 100 miles over the course of three trips and the car was running normally. Also, we were told that the diagnostic/evaluation of the pcm and transmission did not show anything was wrong. In my opinion, there are two problems here: #1, the stalling/transmission problem and #2, the inability to identify the problem for such a major event.

46 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

I was driving my 2016 Ford Explorer on a busy street when the engine light and the orange wrench light came on. The car stalled and would not accelerate. It lost all power. I am terrified of driving it now. It would not move faster than 5 miles per hour. The car has 6,000 miles on it.

50 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

When doing a hard acceleration (I. E. . Merging onto a highway), exhaust smell enters the vehicle through the vents. I've brought this issue to my dealer's service department for the 1st service and was informed that there was a TSB on this problem. The second time I brought the vehicle in for service I mentioned it again. This time, they kept the vehicle and tried to fix it by installing plugs on rear hatch, resealing body seams at the rear of the vehicle, and apply rubberized coating. This did not solve the problem. When I brought the vehicle in for service in may 2017 I told them I still had the problem. At this point, service dept indicated they still haven't figured out what is causing the problem. I purchased this vehicle in January 2016 and started noticing the problem after I'd had the vehicle a few months. This problem occurs almost every time when hard accelerating. The exhaust smell lasts from 2-5 minutes. This problem may occur multiple times during a drive. I don't know whether the fumes are continuing into the vehicle once I can't smell it anymore.

60 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

As I was breaking to turn left at a street light my car started to shake, wrench light came on, the vehicle lost power and stalled. I took it to jordan Ford in san antonio, texas, they told me they could not duplicate the error message and noticed a carbon build up and recommended cleaning. Almost $500 to pay for something that may not fix the problem. I noticed other complaints online about the same issue that happened to my vehicle and I'm very worried. I drive my children in this car. I would like to know why there aren't any recalls on this vehicle.

61 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 04/06/2015

Multiple problems engine light keeps coming on with different issues all within the last 6 months. I have had to have the thermostat housing unit replaced because it cracked, the transmission serviced and re calibrated, replaced the shift solenoid pack because truck would not accelerate and shifted hard. Felt like it was going to stall out. The power steering pressure switch replaced due to power steering leak and the sway bar link repaired because it came loose. Fuel filter replaced due to engine light code indicated issues. Truck only has 81000 miles and now getting ready to take it in again because it is making a loud "clunking" noise when making only left turns. Engine light remains on even after they reset it with every repair that has been done.

62 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

Unable to accelerate without jerking or hesitation. Felt like truck was going to stall out. Engine light came on along with wrench light. Shifted hard. Ended up having to replace the shift solenoid pack, had the transmission serviced and re calibrated and still have issues with poor acceleration . Problem still not resolved.

63 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

I was driving back from the mall on a single lane highway at 55 mph with the whole family. All of the sudden the vehicle just quit. I tried to restart the vehicle while it was gliding without power, but it would not start. I had to pull over to the side of the road until the car stopped by itself. While the car was gliding to a stop, there was no steering brakes or anything available, since the engine had cut off automatically. Luckily I did not get hit by anyone. I finally pulled over, restarted the car and drove again. In a couple of minutes the car stalled again with no controls. This happened about 4 times within a space of 15 miles. I took it to the Ford dealership the next day and had to spend $1000 fixing it, which they blamed on the throttle activation or body. This could have resulted in a fatal situation, especially because the vehicle had no controls when it stalled. I believe there has been the same issue with other Fords and Lincoln vehicles on the web. This should be considered a serious safety issue, which should be fixed as soon as possible. This could happen again to someone and result in serious injury. I feel like Ford should be responsible for the fix to ensure public safety.

64 Car Stall problem of the 2004 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Car starts but will go forward when shifted in reverse. Turned the car off then back on, but when I would put the car back in reverse or drive, it stalled out. Had it towed and then it was fine after that. Now its about 6 months later, now my orange wrench light pops up and cruise control shuts off at 65mph. Then it jerks a couple times. Have had it checked and came back with 14 codes mainly for transmission.

65 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

The throttle box has gone bad. The car stalls randomly when taking off from a start and requires a new throttle body at only 47k miles. This is part of the powertrain, but not covered by the warranty. Ford had lots of problems with throttle bodies in earlier models and it seems they haven't fixed it yet.

66 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/30/2014

While driving on the freeway I needed to accelerate to pass a vehicle and when I did a exhaust smell entered the cab it took about 5-10 seconds after accelerating over 3500 rpms. I have tested this again and again and it happens every time under these conditions. Sitting still there is no effect at all. Five star Ford of plano texas has tried a "TSB" that was issued to install a vent adjustment. They also changed out the cabin filter. Still no luck. Thank you.

67 Car Stall problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/07/2014

My vehicle suddenlty without warning will stall and I lose all power. No power steering. I am able to put the vehicle in neutral and can turn the vehicle back on. The mechanic can not find any codes etc on why this is happening. Apparenly this is a common thing.

69 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

The first thing I noticed was that the car felt like it was sputtering and running roughly. When I came to a stop light, it ran really rough and just died. It started back up and I was able to drive it home. Not knowing if the problem was just a fluke or not, I drove it the next day. After having gone about 8 miles, it did the same thing again. The engine runs rough and then just dies. It also happened to my husband as he left our neighborhood. It started to die on him but he put it in neutral and gave it gas. He took it to the local Lincoln Mercury (bayway) on gulf freeway in houston, TX. They kept it for almost 3 days, could not find anything wrong and one of the service managers drove it the last day and it never happened to him so problem was not found. Today as I was traveling down the gulf freeway (I-45) service road I slowed down for a light, the car sputtered and died while sitting at the light. The car was hard to start up and I was able to get it going and trying to drive it to mcree Ford where I bought it last summer. It stalled and I had to have it towed to dealership. Last week when I was driving around in it, the whole a/c system turned off and it started blowing hot air. All the a/c lights had gone out. Don't know if that was part of a problem or not.

70 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 04/19/2014

I have a 2013 Ford Explorer ecoboost. Today (April 19, 2014), I was on highway 280 south heading towards san jose and my car decelerated twice. 1. The first time I noticed the deceleration, I pulled over to the shoulder and turned the ignition off. I did not see any warning lights on the dashboard and the fuel indicator was normal, meaning it was above the reserve line. I started the ignition, left the gear lever in neutral and pressed the accelerator pedal for a few seconds, it seemed normal. I moved onto the highway and resumed driving. 2. After about 2 miles, the car decelerated again, this time, I was afraid it might stall and pulled over to the shoulder. Again, I did not see any warning lights on the dashboard and the fuel indicator was normal, meaning it was above the reserve line. I started the ignition, left the gear lever in neutral and pressed the accelerator pedal for a few seconds, it seemed normal. I moved onto the highway and resumed driving. After about 1 mile, the fuel indicator popped up the message that the car reached reserve stage. Then the car worked fine for the next 4 miles. This is a serious technical issue. If the car decelerates suddenly without warning, it can cause issues for drivers.
