1 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2017 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/31/2020

My 3 yr old truck already has a leaking coolant line which come to find out is draining into the water line in the engine. I can't drive more than 5miles before I need to refill my coolant. In addition, the heating elements in both the driver and passenger seats has gone out. I thought it was a fuse and of course its something more.

2 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 02/11/2020

Purchased a 2020 Explorer on Feb 11, noticed smoke from the hood right when I arrived home from the dealer, contacted them and they said it might be normal for a new vehicle to have some smoke in the beginning, later I noticed that the interior heat is only blowing cold air so I was about to take it to the nearest dealer to check it out, I remote started the car through the official Fordpass app and then 10 minutes later I entered the car and the engine light and the coolant light was on before I even started driving (car has 78 miles on it) , ( I also got 2 notifications from the app that the engine is overheating) so I called Ford to tow it, now its sitting by Ford service for 2 days and they are saying that it's a coolant leak but they don't know where it leaks to and they are waiting to hear back from Ford engineers on how to proceed, it seems like Ford may have serious issues with the engine coolant system and this is potentially putting any Explorer driver at risk of the vehicle stalling while driving, increasing the risk of injury.

3 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

About two months ago my car started shuttering and was very jumpy. I took it into the dealership and they had to rebuild the entire transmission. Two weeks after that, while driving on the highway, my a/c stoping blowing out cold air and was only blowing out hot air. Took it back to the dealership and the said the air compressor seized, and they hadd to replace that along with all the lines that goes to it. Two weeks after that,, I started to notice my car would shudder when in reverse. Took it into the dealership, and they told me internal engine failure. When I read the diagnostic report (because the service rep wouldn't explain it to me). . . It stated that there was coolant found in one of the cylinders in the engine. . . . Meaning my coolant was leaking into the engine. If I continue to drive it, my vehicle will overheat.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Explorer. While the contact's wife was driving 35-40 mph, the engine began to shudder. The contact's wife drove into a parking lot and the engine shut off. An independent mechanic arrived at the scene and diagnosed that coolant leaked into the engine and the engine block or head was cracked. The contact called willow brook (7301 kingery hwy, willowbrook, IL 60527, (630) 986-5000) and was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. 5 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Since I have purchased the vehicle in February 16 it has been back for service nurmous times, starting 2 days after delivery! major complaint has been coolent loss and burning coolant smell following with a oil leak at the same time. This is a new vehicle 10 miles on it shouldn't have these issues so I demanded a different vehicle, was refused due to demographics! well the dealer brushes everything off as all do say it's normal it happens, as time passes it goes back to the dealer for same issue they replaced a oil seal again and coolant loss and smell is normal to them, they can't find any issues, I tell them it's after long drives well each time they have it over a week. To boot they ignore my complaint about the rotten egg smell I get on acceleration! they tell me it's probably the gas I'm using, mind you this is verbal after the fact, they did not want to put it on the work order. They ordered a new steering wheel due to it peeling. I was also told that technically I am responsible for the diagnosis if they do not find anything wrong and that I had to cover the techs time, well I have to take it back in again for no coolant in the overflow foul smell coming from the vents and exaust smell in the cabin. The vehicle has 14900 mi should not have these problems espicaly costing what it did.

6 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 03/31/2014

Noticed a smell from engine area. Noticed coolant was really low, added coolant and observed major leak under engine. I had to have the truck towed to the dealer. Repair notes from Ford: inspected and found coolant leak coming from lower heater hose has fallen on right side exhaust and melted hole in side of hose - replaced heater hose and rechecked for leaks. Part replaced 1 6l2z*18c553*c hose - this part failed and cost me $481 to fix. I have seen other people post they are experiencing the same problem, but so far Ford is not repairing at no charge under recall or service bulletin and should be.

8 Coolant Leaking problem of the 1996 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 10/01/2003

I have researched and found numerous complaints about blown or leaking head gaskets on the 1996 Ford Explorer, and that is my complaint is. I have a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT with 66,000 miles is gararged year round and is maintained regularly and is only driven by my wife localy back and forth to work approximatly 10-20 miles a day I feel that there is no way I should have both head gaskets leaking coolant with realitivly low mileage for the year. There is definatly a problem here and feel that this needs to be investigated further by Ford, I was also speaking with a gentleman at a local auto parts store (where I work part time ) and he is having the same problem with his 1998 Ford Explorer XLT, both engies involved are the 4. 0 v6. I hope Ford will do what is nesesary to rectify this problem not only for myself but for others that will ultimatly hit them quite hard in the pocketbook for work done at a sevice center. I do not want to drive the vehicle untill I find out what can be done by Ford but have to in order to get my wife back and forth to work, I do not know if anything can be done to seal the problem without taking the heads off and replacing the gaskets. I have checked into what the cost would be and have been told anywhere from $1,200-$1,500 dollars,a bill I cannot afford. It is a shame because we love the vehicle and have had a number of Ford products but are seriously considering trading it in on another brand of vehicle.
