1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 01/25/2010

We have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport, within past few days my transmission started slipping when going into 2nd gear occasionally, now it is doing it much more and the od off light is blinking. I am seeing online that this a very common occurrence with this vehicle and Ford should be required to do something. We pay alot of money to have dependable vehicles and to have the transmissions failing so often in these vehicles is ridiculous. Ford should be help accountable for faulty transmissions!!!.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2000 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 12/01/2004

At 53,000 miles, the truck's transmission began slipping and missing shifts between gears 2-3 and 3-4. We took it to Ford for warranty work, and they replaced the valve body. Now at 76,000 miles, and 15 months later, it's exhibiting the same symptoms, only worse. Ford refuses to fix it because it's out of warranty, and they refuse to recognize that it's a common problem in Ford trucks with the 5r55e transmission.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 06/25/2003

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. My 5 speed automatic transmission slips while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. My vehicle has only 55,000 miles on it and from the new groups I've been following, I'm not alone. I understand that Ford has redesigned the valve body and is refusing to replace defective units free of charge.
