Axle Shaft Seal problems of the 1997 Ford F-150

Three problems related to axle shaft seal have been reported for the 1997 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Axle Shaft Seal problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2001

While driving would step on brakes and left rear tires locked. Consumer was told that defect on vehicle had been rear axle seal that when raining could lock up. Consumer states that affected brakes were saturated with lubricant and would do nothing when activated.

2 Axle Shaft Seal problem

Failure Date: 10/27/1997

Transmission seal failed.

3 Axle Shaft Seal problem

Rear axle seal failed, caused differential to leak and contaminate brake drum.
