Three problems related to speed control cable have been reported for the 1998 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated while attempting to apply pressure to the brakes, the vehicle idled loudly and there was an increase in stopping distance. This occurred at various speeds on normal roads during normal braking without warning. The dealership replaced the retaining clip due to a recall NHTSA # 98v192000 concerning the vehicle speed control cables, however the problem still exists. The manufacturer has been alerted.
Vehicle suddenly accelerates. Vehicle has been at dealership four times . Dealer has replaced the accelerator cable. Also replaced twice cruise control.
Consumer experienced high acceleration while driving. Throttle cable got hooked on something, causing gas pedal to stay open, causing outer control speed. Dealer notifed.
