Nine problems related to engine exhaust system have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My emissions, egr and 02 senors.
The contact owns a 1999 Ford f150. In between oil changes, the head gasket leaks oil onto the motor and causes it to smoke. As a result, oil gets beneath the motor and into the exhaust, which could cause a fire. The vehicle is also smoking. The Ford dealer recommended that the contact keep the vehicle parked. Nhtsa campaign id number 98v194000 (fuel system, gasoline:fuel injection system) was referenced. The current mileage was 135,000 and failure mileage was less than 100,000. Update 09/10/08 updated 09/16/08.
1999 Ford f150 blown head gasket right side can't afford to pay 4700. 00 dollars to replace gasket & head. Ford knows they have a problem with the gasgets on the triton motros but fail to take blame. This is a fire hazard when oil is leaking on the exhaust. Recall!! before someone gets hurt or killed.
Right side head gasket on 5. 4 v8 leaking again at 72,000 miles. Heads replaced once and gaskets replaced twice. Out of warranty now. We need a recall. Oil drips on hot exhaust and smokes, fire hazard.
Head gasket is leaking oil onto exhaust pipe causing it to burn and release smoke into vehicle's interior cabin. Consumer contacted manufacturer, who admitted that head gasket was defective, but will not assist in repairing it because warranty expired. Ts. . . .
Suden jump in idle speed(to3000)rpm. Dangerous to hold vehicle stopped in snow. Transmission does not downshift to low gear till rmp drops below 1000. Dangerous to stop vehicle. Foot must be applied firmly on brake pedal at traffic lights for the duration of the stop for fear of vehicle lurching forward and hitting car in front. Dealer said he fixed. Problem still present. Very objectionable odor in vehicle( like burning off old oil deposits on metal) present at times. Unbearable to an asthmatic person. Vehicle otherwise in sound shape.
Vehicle smokes excessively and carbon emissions collect on the rear fender and tailgate. Yh.
Was driving my Ford on the freeway when I heard a loud noise, I stopped nearby took a look at it found the spark plug had been blown out, called Ford the said they could fix it for 2200!.
Carbon monoxide (CO) leaks into the cab and accumulates to unacceptable levels, this happens not only when vehicle is parked or idling, but while driving with windows closed and the heater on, first repair they found a bad manifold gasket, however the problems continues after replacement. * mjs.
