My 1999 f150 truck has a head gasket problem and heater core issue. Started smelling anti freeze on Sunday. Took to a mechanic on Monday and said there is an oil leak, seepage coming from head gasket. The heater core needs replaced, but why oil leak is happening not sure. Was told it would be about $3500. 00 to repair only head gasket and heater core. This truck only has 127,00 miles on it and all regular maintenance has been done timely. Researched this on internet and found many complaints about this same problem. There was even an article in automotive news on 4/1/2002 regarding this issue, and according to written article Ford was fixing the problem for consumers. I called Ford and they told me no. This is a huge expense, and with this many complaints and article that says Ford is aware of this defect and no one can help. Pretty much either fix the head gaskets and hope it works, or was told new engine needed. If this is an issue, and can cause the engine to stop would like to know if I have any recourse in getting Ford to fix the problem. Cannot be driven now because of possible extreme overheating and then engine failure. Any help would be appreciated.

Oil leak. I have a 1999 Ford F-150 with a 5. 4 motor that leaks oil from the rigth head, this problem was fixed 03/29/00 at 9900 miles. It 42000 miles it started leaking again the dealer checked it out and said it was the same head gasket as before but because it was out of warranty I would have to pay for the repair. Ford said they wont. The dealer told me that Ford had changed to a differtent type of head gasket because of this problem but it was up to Ford to pay or not to pay for repairs.
Have a 1999 Ford F-150 with a 5. 4 liter engine. #3 spark plug blew out and had to have a costly repair done by the mechanic pulling the head and placing an insert into the hole. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone because the passenger side head was leaking oil. This same spark plug had blown out two previous times. Finally decided that something was wrong. Have driven Fords all of my life. Not sure will purchase again.
I have a 1999 f150 Ford truck. Large oil leak from the right hand head gasket at the rear of the block on my engine. Also a leak on outside right hand filling intake valley. Estimated cost from Ford dealership $1600 depending on what it takes to repair it. I feel this is a major repair and possibly the part was poorly machined.
