My 2005 Ford F-150 front passenger side window fell in the door. While driving down a smooth road in a residential area I heard a huge crack, then the window literally fell in the door and would not come up. The crack sounded like a gunshot and could have resulted in serious injuries. Repairs from the Ford dealer are estimated at 400 or more dollars.

43 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2010

I am the owner of a 2005 Ford f150 supercab truck. I recently had another power window regulator fail on my vehicle. This failure occurred while I was driving down the road at a speed of about 35mph. This is the second regulator that has been replaced on this vehicle (the first one occurred three years ago). When this failure occurs the window just drops completely down into the door with no warning. When this failure occurs while you are driving it causes a very big distraction to the driver and passengers of the vehicle. Three years ago, when the first regulator failed, I had my vehicle parked (luckily at home) and I noticed that the window was in the down position. I recalled rolling the window up when I parked my vehicle, so I got in it to put the window in the up position. After turning the ignition on and pressing the up button, nothing happened. This time it was the drivers window. I am very fortunate to have not parked my vehicle in a public place when this failure occurred because it would have given anyone access to the inside of my vehicle. Although the failures did not result in any injury or losses, this is a very important issue concerning vehicle safety. I conducted some internet research on this issue and it appears that other 2004-2005 f150 owners have had the same issue with these window regulators. I am very concerned that the remaining 2 windows will fail over time. On both occasions, I took my vehicle to the local dealership to have a replacement window regulator installed. One of the regulator replacements was covered under warranty and the most recent one was not. This repair cost was $220. I feel that this is an issue that regular maintenance nor normal vehicle care could prevent. This is a definite equipment flaw that the owner has no warning of when it will occur. Therefore I feel that these regulators should be investigated because it poses a safety issue to the vehicle owner as well as other drivers on the roadway.

50 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2010

I was driving down the road and out of nowhere! my driver's door window slid/fell hard down into my door for no reason!! I didn't even hit a bump! not sure if the window broke at the bottom inside the door or not. Now it won't go up. Upon looking for the possible cause online, I read that Ford knows that this is an equipment defect and potential safety issue but has so far refused to do anything about it. This could have happened anywhere, even in a mall parking lot where someone would have instant access to the interior. Not to mention the safety issues, weather, etc.

51 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2010

While driving my 2005 Ford f150, the back window slid down. My daughter pushed the button to roll it up and a loud crunching sound with a pop followed. The function of the button is no longer operable. This is the second time this type of occurrence has happened, which has resulted in approximately $800 in repairs. The first time was over a year ago on the driver's window.

53 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2010

The driver side window regulator on my 05 Ford F-150 failed in April of this year, a week later the passenger side window broke. The truck was just parked in my driveway, this doesn't seem right to me. I have heard many stories of this happening to so many people. Something has to be done about this. This is a $400 repair and some of us can't afford this. Please help us!.

54 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2010

Power window regulator failure on 2005 f150. Was driving and tried to adjust window and it crashed down into bottom of door. The large "clunk" was very distracting and startled me while driving 65 mph. I have done some research and this is not an isolated problem. There are numerous accounts of multiple failures with this part. You need to put the heat on these guys to have this part redesigned with better guts because there is no doubt it is a defective design. [xxx].

55 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

P/s window fell off track causing to be rolled up or down.

56 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I own a 2005 Ford F-150 super cab California limited edition bought brand new and now has 48388. 9 miles and I heard a loud pop as I was at the light,I then looked around and rolled the window down ( drivers door side) and the whole window fell inside the track. I had to call a repair man to fix it and he charged over $200. 00 dollars. I feel this is a safety issue (someone could get scared because of the loud pop or the window falling inside the track as your driving causing a distraction to the road and vehicles surrounding them). I feel that there should be a recall because of that and that Ford should be responsible for replacing all the windows regulators in all affected vehicles including the other three windows in my truck before it does the same thing and cause another distraction. From my understanding as I was researching on the computer there have been already many complaints. [xxx].

57 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2010

The window regulator has broken in 2 of my f150 windows, causing the window to fall into the door frame. Latest date is noted below.

58 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2010

I have had two windows stop rolling up on my f150 lariat. It is a 2005 model. The truck has 43,000 miles on it. I have read many complaints of the same problem. Must be a manufacturers defect. I think if I had a Toyota, they would fix it.

59 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2010

Front window does not always go up and down. Afraid to use the automatic button afraid I will not get it back up. It happens almost everytime I put the window down now.

60 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

I purchased a Ford f150 XLT v8 5. 4 2wd truck in July of 2005. Since then I have had to replace the regulator for the driver side power window. I just had the last one replaced in October of 08'. It is starting to fail again. When I press the button for the window to go down, once down it won't come back up. I have to physically lift the window back up. This is a noted and constant problem with this vehicle. Ford is aware of the issue but won't issue a recall or design a fix for the problem. In speaking with mechanics from Ford, this issue started with the new model that came out in 2004. The 2005 models are prone to the defect. I should not have to replace the regulator three times in four years. This is an obvious issue to which I see no resolve. Please look into the matter.

61 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2010

I was driving on the interstate and heard a loud pop and thought someone had shot at my car, it scared me and with my response swerved and I almost had an accident. Later as it turned out it was a common window regulator defect on Ford trucks and SUV's. They have built it with the purpose of failure and a high cost to the owner to repair this and no guarantee that it will work and not fail again soon. This should be a recall to all those Ford's with this failure. It is going to cost just under $400. 00 to fix with no guarantee. It is indeed a safety issue when it happens while driving at high speeds or anywhere around any other cars, not to mention the window dropping, who knows it could shatter and cause a severe injury.

62 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2010

Window regulator on 2005 F-150 got in my truck, closed the door, and the window fell into the door. Reading online this seems to be a huge issue. It is very dangerous and costly.

I was driving down the road in my 2005 Ford F-150 when I heard a loud pop, it was my drivers side window that just gave out on its own. Now this same problem has happened to my passenger side window nearly 3 months ago. It a hazard for the simple fact that I driving on the road and it spoooked the !@#$% out of me causing me to swerve on the other lanes. Please have this part recalled immediately. It has happened to me twice and my older brother also has a F-150 and him too has had this problem!!!.

65 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2009

I have a 2005 Ford f150 and the window was kind of having problems going up. Down was never a problem. Then finally it quit going up all together. Was able to disassemble and found the little plastic plugger for the rocker contact was all mushroomed out. Took one from one of the back window switches to get by.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. While driving in a rainstorm at 65 mph the driver-side window collapsed. When the failure occurred, he heard a loud bang. He pulled over and then took the vehicle to a local repair facility. A technician stated that the window regulator failed. He called the manufacturer and was referred to NHTSA. The vehicle had not been repaired to-date. The current mileage was 53,547. The failure mileage was approximately 53,520.

Window regulator on 2005 Ford f150. Driving IA a rainstorm and drivers side window fell with no warning. Almost crashed on the interstate.

68 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The passenger and driver side window had fallen inside of the door without warning. He speculated that the plastic clip for the window cables have fractured. He has not contacted the dealer or manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 55,000.

69 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2009

Window regulator failed while driving. Loud crash in driver side door and then window drops to full open position. Was pouring down rain and suddenly being hit by wall of rain and loud crash I almost lost control of the vehicle on the interstate. I did research after getting home and this is a well know issue and is the most common fix for 2004-2008 F-150s, all models.

70 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2009

I have a 2005 Ford f150 fx4 with a 5. 4 triton. My problem is the motor regulators in the windows and switch failure. I stumbled upon a web site this morning and found that this has been an on going problem. Why won't Ford recall the part and fix it. I am afraid to be driving down the road and my windows fall into the door. I will probably wreck and up dying because Ford can fix the problem.
