1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

Speedometer sticks at 60 mph on idle or when it’s turned off. Does not reflect actual speed of car. There are multiple cars with f150 with the similar complaint.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2019

Left work drove 1/4 of a mile and car jerked while driving at 35 mph, wrench light came on and car didn't seem to accelerate at first but did slightly accelerate so I could get off the road. Turned car off waited a few minutes turned on and light went off. Drove home 10 miles and still doing it without equal pattern.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds and without depressing the accelerator or brake pedals, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the engine revved. The contact stated that the failures also occurred while making a left turn and the steering wheel seized, which made it difficult to make the left turn. The brake pedal was depressed in order to stop the vehicle. After stopping, turning off, and restarting the vehicle, it was able to operate normally. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred at least three other times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

During shifting on streets and hwy's my rpms ramp up to 3000-5000. I have been driving while maintaining speed and then the rpms will ramp up then the speed steadily drops while my foot is still on the accelerator. Turning the overdrive off seems to help occasionally. I have also attempted to brake at lights and the rpms will ramp up and lurch forward almost causing me to rear end other vehicles. This is a major safety concern and I dont understand why Ford hasn't issued a recall and addressed this safety hazard. My o/d light occasionally flashes and when in "park" then putting the gear in "reverse" it wouldn't operate and where my digital mileage is said "trans fault". I turned the vehicle off, then back on and the o/d was off and was able to back up. None of my warning lights have come on at all. Occasionally at a stop sign when I attempt to accelerate there's a delay in movement. Speed varies at times of incidents.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

Driving along, about 35mph, stopped vehicle at traffic light, engine started revving, placed both feet on brake, tried shifting to neutral, problem got worse (revved higher), light turned green, let go of brake, engine revved and vehicle went to 45mph without accelerating, applied brake, pulled over, shut off engine, restarted engine, still revving, pulled back on gas pedal with foot, engine rpms finally dropped to normal, inspected floor area -found no obstructions nor debris in pedal. Also concerned that this may have happened once before about 2 years ago, when I was involved in an accident.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2013

While slowing down to stop the engine revved and the truck accelerated. We were out of town and within a short while the same thing happened 4 times. Now 2 more times. The dealer said it might be the throttle control box but he could do a 75 dollar diagnostic too. I declined. This has happened before but not as bad, I thought my foot hit the gas pedal which is definitely not the case.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

My truck accelerated on it's own while hitting the brake, I thought it might be my new mat so I removed it and it happened again. Not sure if I hit the gas pedal at the same time as the brake? I have never had this happen in all the years I drove Fords or GMC. Your form would be easier if you could just type in info and boy I wish these programs would get rid of the state box and let us type it in.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2013

I decelerated and turned a corner onto a two way street. I thought I had hit ice as my 2007 f150 truck accelerated and swerved into the other lane. My foot was on the brake and my tires were screeching as I landed on a snowbank on the other side of the highway. I had to apply heavy pressure to the brake to stop! it was not human error nor ice! very recently the speed control had stopped working on the vehicle.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

My wife and baby were travelling down the 405 freeway at 70mph when out of no where the trucks dashboard lit up and the truck completely shut down in the fast lane. The gas pedal did nothing and there was no way out of the fast lane safely. I normally wouldn't file a complaint except in this situation we had just purchased this "certified" used vehicle, it put my family in extreme danger, and the service consultant at Ford had indicated to me that this was a common problem with the f150 model. I was informed that it was the electronic throttle body or electronic throttle sensor that had gone out and that the service consultant had seen it on Ford f150 trucks ranging from brand new to older models.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2011

My f150 with about 45000 miles has twice had an engine surge as I pulled to stop with my foot on the brake. It basically revs to about 4500 rpm for about 3 seconds. I brought it into the dealer twice. The first time the charged me about $140 to reset my computer chip. The second time I brought it in and they said there were no recalls and basically I should pay 300+ and replace the throttle body. I'm certain there is a defective chip of some sort so replacing a mechanical device will not solve the problem. I'm glad I read these bulletins because I know this should be a major recall. I am saving this email in case I damage property or run someone over at an intersection or parking lot. Please respond to me to let me know what it will take for a recall to occur. It does scare me to drive my truck! the first time I ended up in the intersection and the second, I almost hit the car in front.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when attempting to decelerate, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was advised that the vehicle would have to remain with the dealer until they were able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2010

My wife was driving her 2007 f150 crew cab with 33,000 miles. She was approaching a stop sign and the engine revved vary high and she could not stop for the intersection. Fortunately there was no oncoming traffic as she shot straight through the intersection before she got the vehicle under control. She was scared to death. I called the Ford dealer and they say they never heard of the problem! I told them to do an internet search and they will see thousands of documented cases but I've yet to see a solution posted.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

After replacing the front brake rotors and brake pads during 8/07/10 - 8/10/10 to try and alleviate a problem with the brake pedal traveling past the accelerator when braking (normal braking), I had to return to the dealership with the same problem. It is a safety issue as I cannot allow anyone else to drive the truck who is not familiar with the problem. The dealership kept the vehicle from 8/11/10 through 8/25/10 with the service manager driving it every day to and from work to see if the problem could be replicated. The service manager said he noticed the same problem with the brake pedal going past the accelerator with normal braking; however, did not happen everytime. I agreed with that. After the service manager called the factory representative to discuss the problem, the factory representative said there is not a known problem and the braking system was within specifications. I was told by my dealership that Ford does not recognize the problem and they could not resolve the issue for me. It appears to be a design problem, as I drove several 2007 and 2008 F-150's that the dealership had on the lot. Each one of them had the problem I noted above. The 2009 F-150 does not have the braking problem I found out when I test drove one. The service manager at my dealership told me that the entire braking system was re-designed for the 2009 model year.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2010

On 4-29,2010 I was driving at about 25 mph with my foot on the gas pedal when without warning, the engine revved up and the truck accelerated on its own. Taking my foot off of the gas, I put the brake on, the truck continued to accelerate and was lurching, the tire were squealing, but I was not slowing down, I was going about 60 mph by now, the engine was still accelerating, I turned the ignition off, and was coming to a stop slowing, there was an intersection with cross traffic in front of me. . I was still moving. . So I jammed it into park to stop. . I restarted it in a few seconds thinking I could move it out of traffic, but when I stared it the engine was still racing. I had the car towed to theadore robbins Ford in costa mesa CA. They had the truck 2 days and were unable to recreate the situation, fixed nothing and returned the truck to me. The truck is a 2007 f 150 with 26,072 miles on it.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 1 mph he applied pressure to the brake pedal and the pedal remained depressed until his foot was also applying pressure to the accelerator pedal. He had to quickly maneuver his foot off of the accelerator pedal to prevent the vehicle from accelerating. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that there were no repairs for that type of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure began to recur intermittently and the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer where he was again informed that there were no repairs for this type of failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to recur intermittently. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 50,000. The VIN was unavailable.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2009

I read an article in the newspaper about an investigation you are doing on Ford taurus and sable vehicles in the 2001 to 2006 model years for accelerating on their own. I purchased my truck in February of 2009 used and, in the three years I have owned it, it has done the same thing on four seperate occasions. I had it checked out by the local Ford dealer in my home town and they could find nothing wrong with it. Nothing showed up on their electronic equipment. The first time it happened, I was unhooking my travel trailer and put it in drive to pull away and it surged forward in my driveway. The second time, I was in a crowded parking lot and it surged forward while I was trying to park. The third time, I was pulling out of my driveway. The fourth time, I was pulling into an automated car wash and nearly ran past the attendants and nearly crashed into the equipment. Each time I was able to shift it into neutral and turn the engine off. It revs up so much that I can't hold it with the brake. I think this sounds like what you are investigating on the other vehicles and it may be happening in a wider range of Ford vehicles. I would love not having to worry about when it will happen next.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

Ford speed control blewup.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

My 2007 Ford 150 has 46,000 miles on it. I was moving it in the drive way at a very slow speed and all of a sudden it accelerated and the more I tried to step on the brake the faster it went. Very scary! I think what is more scary is there are several other people that have this complained. I am taking it to the shop this week but the more I read the more I am convinced they will not find anything.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2008

My 2007 Ford f150 has a severe safety flaw. Four times so far, between March 2008 and July 2008, the vehicle has accellerated on its own when braking to stop. The truck will slow to about 10 mph then suddenly on its own the engine revs to 2000 rpms and the truck surges forward. The only way to stop it is to throw it into neutral. This almost caused several accidents . Two separate Ford dealers worked on this problem but both found nothing wrong even though the problem continues. I e-mailed Ford on 7/23/2008 but they have not yet replied.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2007

I experienced several scary instances of unexpected acceleration with my new f150. 1) after driving ~25 miles, and driving in downtown traffic, the truck attempted to accelerate while stopped. The truck revved up and lunged forward while people were walking in front of truck. I was forced to press the brake very hard. The people walking were frightened. 2) while moving the truck in the driveway, it accelerated quickly, I slammed on the brakes, skidding several feet. 3) had several other instances. When I explained to dealer, the senior salesman told me I must have had my foot on the accelerator. This was not the case. There was no concern by the dealer to check this out.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2007

Within a week of purchasing our 2007 Ford 150 truck, we started having a problem with vehicle suddenly lunging forward whenever the vehicle was idling in drive while stopped (for red light, in turn lane, at pedestrian crossing, etc. ). This sometimes occurred when the driver still had a foot on the brake, other times just as foot lifted from the brake, but always without driver touching the accelerator. Incidents happened at least 6 times in one month and not consistently, which caught driver off guard even more. During one incident, a pedestrian was almost hit as she crossed the street at least several feet away from front of vehicle. Incidents occurred randomly at least 6 different times throughout the month of February.
