5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

Issue: abrupt engine shutoff while driving at high speed. Occurance: while driving on an interstate highway at approximately 70mph in far left lane, the vehicle abruptly shutoff. With no power, the power steering also did not function, however, had enough speed to safely pull onto the grass median. It appears the problem is with a known issue to Ford, which is the fuse for the fuel pump (#27 in the engine compartment pdb) will melt and cause either intermittent or complete failure even while driving at high speeds. Given the conditions I was extremely lucky to have been able to pull off, and then back on to the roadway safely. Ford has a fix available fuel pump jumper harness kit. Kit terminal part #: wt56872 (14293) as a result of this problem, yet it seems there is no active recall for this to be installed. Why??? this could have resulted in multiple deaths and injuries for a single incident - I think that's unacceptable and hope NHTSA will concur and compel a recall to fix this issue.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2022

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph he slowed down and when he made a right-hand turn, the vehicle stopped completely. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to get the vehicle safely in the parking lot. The failure has occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to local mechanics to be diagnosed. There was no failure diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,320.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2021

All electric devices and warnings having to do with the left rear passenger door have shorted out due to excessive wear from repeated opening and closing of the door. Inspection of the harness immediately adjacent to the door frame shows excessive wear and broken wires. Possible confusion to the driver from unsafe dash warnings and false warnings that a rear passenger be seated next to a door that is not properly closed. Dome lights may not extinguish during driving. Electrical fire hazard. Required fix is Ford replacement part #9l3z-14631-caa. Internet search has shown this problem to be wide spread among F-150 crew cab back doors.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2021

I was traveling with my wife and 3 children in my 2010 Ford f150 platinum. It had snowed the night before so I had cleaned the windows and turned on the defroster, including the rear defroster. I was running the truck for about 15 min when the rear window started to smoke and a small fire, burning occurred before the glass in the rubber seal (outside). I threw water on it while my wife and kids (11, 9, and 3) evacuated the truck. I was able to contain it, but the window cracked during the burn/fire due to the heat. My wife was taking my daughter out of her car seat as this happened. We turned the truck off and contacted the local Ford dealer who said the service department was closed until Monday but to bring it in as there was a recall and they were aware of similar issues. I took the truck in today Monday January 18th and the service department said there was no recall or anything they could do. Not one did anyone ask for the welfare of my family nor did they pretend to care about the situation of one of their parts/vehicles causing a fire and potentially injuring or worse causing death to one of there customers. I was informed to contact customer service who gave me the same response. That my VIN had no recall listed and that would not cover any repairs. I did some research and read on numerous Ford forums about this issue with 2009-2012 Ford trucks. All with the same exact burn/fire location and exact rear window (far right) cracking. This is concerning that Ford is clearly aware of this issue but takes no responsibility to attempt to correct and look out for the welfare of its customers. I would understand a mechanical issue and a part breaking down but I should not fear that my vehicle will catch on fire and cause harm to my family. Thankfully nothing worse happened to my family and I but it should not take the worst case scenario for Ford to assist with this.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

Transmission was replace rain was be place the truck is still stalling slip in and year.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2020

The day I went to purchase this vehicle the dealership told me then there was an electrical problem that has caused the radio not to work. That they will fix it next day. I basically got the run around had there mechanic look at it he could not figure out what was wrong. I informed them that there is more then just the radio the air bag system does not work or show that it works. Also pointed out that chunks of metal was falling from the bottom of this every time I shut the door. Still nothing has been done. They used rustoleum bed liner to cover every inch under the truck. It is literally falling to pieces. 3 weeks go by after sending numerous emails on update when this will get fix and they tell me that they will not fix it because the CO signer left a bad review. I have no working air bags. And I'm paying 15 thousand for this truck.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

Dash lights go out without doing anything, also all gauges on dash go to 0 (like when the truck is shut off) and the a/c compressor and blinkers stops working, the fan continues working. The engine, breaks, headlights continue to work. Sometimes if you hit the dash with your fist everything will return to working condition. Good luck figuring this out because Ford dealership can't.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2019

The normal camshaft phaser issues are occurring. Loud knocking, vibrating while idling, and general rattling from the motor when the truck isn't above 1000 rpms. While this may not directly cause accidents, in intense rattling and knocking can cause other issues to arise which in turn can cause major safety concerns for the NHTSA. If Ford doesn't decide to take on this issue and repair it, then it can be expected that every 3 valve Ford motor made since 2005 will eventually succumb to these major issues. As we all know Ford has had issues designing motors in the past, primarily the 6. 0, 6. 4 and 5. 4 motor that I currently own, but it is time for Ford to step up and handle the mechanical problems that their designers negligence caused. It is not too much to ask that an auto manufacturer stands by their product and repairs or replaces the faulty part when the time comes. Additionally in the part you wherein you asked for the date of the incident, I will put the most recent occurrence but please note that this issue is reoccurring and you should expect knocking and vibration every time you drive.

The approximate failure mileage was 109,554. Gl.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2019

As I was driving to work this morning with my rear defrost on - Monday 10-21-2019 around 7:30 am on the same hwy I take everyday, I notice smoke coming from the passenger side back windshield, as think in my mind what the hell I need to pull over to check it out, all of a sudden a loud boom goes off and my back passenger side windshield explodes. . After collecting myself I stop to check it out and notice where the smoke is coming from, as I'm looking at my back glass I notice the smoke is coming from the outside of the windshield around the rubber gasket, it was literally melting. I also have a video where you can hear the cracking/ melting of the back windshield.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2019

The truck driver heated seat wires overheated and began to catch fire. The wires melted and caused the excessive heat to catch the foam and fabric to burn. The heated seats were not turned on at the time.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2019

Truck was parked hooked to a camper when I tried to start the truck it would not start. Had to tow the truck to the Ford dealer they told me it was the fuse that overheated they would have to replace it with a fuse kit. The dealer said it was not covered under my extended warranty but I did however see an article in cars. Com stating that Ford was replacing this free of charge. It seems to me that Ford is aware of this fuse that overheats and in fact sells a fuse kit that relocates this fuse at a charge of $480 but I'm sending this survey hoping to overturn this. According to other Ford owners this issue has occurred while driving and seems very unsafe I was fortunate enough to be parked and just inconvenienced.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Rear side passenger door is stuck and will not unlock nor open. Door is not working.

The contact pumped the gas pedal and the vehicle regained acceleration. The contact also stated that the loss of throttle happened four times on that day. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer peoria Ford, 9130 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382, they determined that fuse 70 burned and melted the fuse box. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000. Bp.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2018

Rear defrost glass shattered after using the rear defroster. The rear defroster stopped working but started working again, only to result in overheating and shattering the glass. The shattering occurred while driving between 30-40 mph, the temperate while cool (around 45 degrees). I was driving straight and it was dark.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact drove over a pothole and the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. A picture of a battery was displayed on the center of the instrument panel. After approximately five minutes, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. However, after approximately three miles, the failure recurred. The contact also stated that the vehicle restarted after he struck the fuse box a few times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 198,000.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2018

Ive had the same problem now twice in a row with the fuel pump 20a fuel in the fuse box under the hood getting hot and melting then blowing the fuse. This fuse if it hadn't blown would have caught the fuse box on fire. Ford makes a kit to bypass the tiny fuse to relicate it to a larger fuse in an open spot. There are multiple others in numerous forums who state they have had the same problem. Ford has never issued a recall for this issue that can turn bad if the fuse does not pop.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2018

Driving on county road using rear defroster and the rear window shattered on the passengr side. Extremely loud boom like a gun shot sound. No hole in glass just shattered but still in frame.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2018

I have not had any problems with the truck until now. Lately I t's not been cranking and the check engine light on. Sometimes it cranks fine and sometime it doesn't. I took it to auto zone and they got a communications code. I've heard a lot of complaints on this issue. I've also been told that the vehicle will shut down on you while driving.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2017

Rear window defroster, doesn't work. There is a major malfunction with F-150's concerning this problem. A lot of people are having this problem. There should be a recall. Is the government gonna let Ford slide by again on this? what about the people.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

Fuel pump fuse blows without provocation leaving vehicle without power. Went out to start vehicle and it would only turn over but never start. Found this to be a consistent problem on the web and was able to replace the fuse and vehicle started immediately.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

Engine cranks but does not start one morning. Found fried fuel pump fuse was the issue. Not a blown fuse. A fried fuse. Blackened and charred.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2017

Like hundreds of others, driving and put rear defroster on and a minute later heard a gunshot like noise and my back rear right winidow exploded. Dogs in the backseat, was not pretty and scared the heck out of me while driving. Isn't there a recall on this yet?.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2017

My truck cranks but won't start. The fuse to the fuel pump relay was blown. I understand this is a problem with many truck owners and Ford is offering a bypass kit for this system for $400-$500. Shouldn't this be a recall if they're having to install a bypass kit?.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2017

The 20 amp fuse for the fuel pump is melting in the fuse block. This is all over the internet and is a known problem by Ford dealers. This 2010 year is the problem everyone is having. Ford has yet to have a recall but with all the problems it is not going to long until someone is stranded and they bypass the fuse and start a fire. Ford does need to address this problem . I do not have any pictures of mine I changed over the weekend but there is plenty on line that is how we found why my truck would not start. It is only a matter of time before a fire may start from this melting of the fuse block.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

Tpms module continually looses contact with wheel sensors and displays "tire pressure sensor fault" in the instrument cluster. Discount tire has replaced and resynced three times and it continues to happen. The fault usually occurs when on the freeway. About 30 days after having it fixed. The other issue is continual problems with the apim module. This is a safety concern if you're unable to make a phone call because you're having constant bluetooth issues. It has come to my attention through a google search that many people with the same model and vintage are having this problem, and Ford is trying their best to blame peoples phones for causing problems rather than accepting responsibility for it. My truck is in the dealer having this issue looked at for a third time now. I'm finally getting them to replace the apim under my extended factory warranty.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

Fuel pump relay fuse melted. 2010 F-150 2 wd v8, was driving and pulling a trailer (within the vehicle's parameters weight wise, I. E. Not overloaded, and in fact it continued with the empty trailer) and the truck began stalling randomly, usually when going up a hill. This is very dangerous as I was hauling valuable horses up hilly roads at the time. I had it repaired at a local dealership (crain Ford, little rock, arkansas 501-570-3737) which involved moving the fuse to a different spot. It seems to be acting up again after less than a week. I paid a lot of money to "fix" it and it needs to stay fixed!.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving and making a left turn, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The contact coasted into a parking lot, waited a minute, restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving. In addition, the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 30 mph. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 197,664.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

The door ajar light stays on. After closing all doors repeadtly, the driver side door light says its still ajar. The dangerous part is that the cab lights stay on the whole time while driving at night. Also, when done driving and after locking the truck, the lights still stay on running down the battery.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2016

Rear defrost began to smoke and shattered glass. Glass shards fell into rear seating area. Vehicle was in reverse gear.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While operating the vehicle, the turn signals would not work and the electric seats and side mirrors could not be adjusted. In addition, the windshield wipers and wiper fluid sprayer erroneously activated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the Smart junction box was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
