36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

My 2010 Ford F-150 air condition system blows out cool air on the drivers side and hot air on the passenger side. When the air is turned on.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

The truck has had this issue since I've purchased the truck but can never duplicate the issue while at the dealership. The 1st time the engine would crank but would not fire. The second time, I was driving and the truck just stopped. I was lucky enough some passing by motorist helped to push it out of the intersection. 3rd time, the truck was parked and did not start. After troubleshooting the issue, the fuel pump relay fuse burned out. Normally fuses just pop, this one just burned out to where I could not take out the fuse. Took the truck to was bought at and after a few hours, the problem was located. The shop foreman stated that they have had alot of trucks go in with the same issue. Only reason I making a complaint is due to that comment. It is a safety issue when I was driving and truck shuts off in the middle of the intersection. What if my sons were with me? hope this gets resolved and a recalled is made before something worse happens to someone else. Thank you.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2016

Turned on the rear defrost on the vehicle this morning as it was sitting still warming up. Temp=40f. Came outside with the back glass smoking and on fire, melting the plastic trim on the passenger side of the back glass. Minutes later the glass broke, spidering the entire panel on the passenger side.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

It was 7 degrees this morning and there was ice on my rear window. I turned on the electric defrost and about 5 minutes later I hear a loud bang. The passenger side rear window exploded / shattered into pieces. We called Ford and they are not willing to rectify the situation or addres it in any way.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2015

While driving I turned on the defroster for the back window and approx. 1 minute later the passenger side rear section of the back window shattered I was driving about 25 miles an hour after making a turn this happened.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2015

Truck stalls coming to a stop at red lights/stop signs. Also stalls while simply driving down a street or highway/interstate. After shutting down recently (while driving on the interstate), the truck was towed. I was traveling at 65mph on interstate at the time and was able to drift into emergency lane. After several tests, learned there was a problem in the fuse box. The fuse to the fuel pump was melted in the fuse box. Was told the fuel pump on these years pulls more than required amps and is overheating the fuse and melting it. Was told the fuse box would need to be replaced and Ford has a 4 to 6 week back order on these. Because of so many issues. Not fair for consumers to pay for this engineering mistake.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

I turned on my defrost on my rear truck window, let the truck warm up as it was -5, started to drive down the street, doing 50 km, heard a loud "pop" and the back sliding window shattered on the driver's side. Luckily it stayed intact as I was on my way to work. I stopped at Ford to see what they could do, as I researched the problem and hundreds of people have experienced this same issue with the Ford trucks. The service manager at Ford said he coulnd't do anything for me as I no longer had warranty. He wanted to charge me $1200 for a new window. I called Ford motor CO. And they also said they couldn't do anything about it (even tho it is a common problem). I had the window fixed by an independent company for half the price Ford would have charged. I believe this should be a recall, as it is certainly a safety hazard. There are several complaints about this issue on the NHTSA site.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph to work. The contact stated he heard an abnormal noise. Pulled into parking the rear window was shattered to the burn marks were at the center glass. The rear defroster was running for about twenty minutes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. 45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

Driving to work had rear defroster on and outside temperature was high 30s or low 40s. Saw smoke start to billow out in middle of rear slider. Pulled over and checked, smoke went away when I opened the power slider about 6". When I closed the window with the power slider the right rear backglass shattered. This is apparently a common problem with this model truck.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2015

2010 F-150 passenger rear window spidered this morning when I turned on rear defrost.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

The truck was parked facing down on a moderate hill. When the truck was started and the shift lever moved from park to drive, the transmission remained locked up (still in park) and the visual gear selector indicator did not illuminate showing any gear selected. After a few seconds, the transmission shifted into drive and the shift indicator illuminated in the gear selected. Applying gas during the "pause shift" period resulted in a rapid and uncontrolled acceleration when the shift occurred and this resulted in a significant accident. After the accident, the truck was examined by a Ford dealership technician and the transmission control modulator (tcm) was reprogrammed.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2015

The truck was parked in the driveway warming up with the rear window defrost on when a lot of smoke started coming out of the area around the rear passenger side head rest. I turned off the truck and then there was a loud bang and the passenger side rear window panel had shattered.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the rear window heater was turned on, the window shattered completely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,100.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2015

After turning on rear defroster on a 15 degree day I heard some electrical snapping and popping sounds. I turned off the rear defroster for a few minutes then back on again. Not long after that I heard a very loud bang which was my right side rear window shattering. It stayed in place but was completely spider webbed with a few small missing pieces.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

The ambient temperature was approximately -10 degrees fahrenheit. I went to warm up my truck and turned on the rear window defroster. When I returned to my vehicle to drive to work I found that my rear window on the passenger side had shattered. I inspected the window for signs of vandalism but besides the spidering of the tempered glass there was no sign of any impact. After an extremely short google search I found this is one of the most common problems with with the 2010 F-150. The complaints about this problem are so abundant it's become comical. Which is not a good thing Ford. . . You shouldn't be content with your product being a punchline.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

Driving my son to school on a cold morning with the rear defroster on. About 10 minutes into our drive we heard a very loud pop and my son noticed that the window behind his head had shattered. After researching this issue it seems to be fairly common among this year model with people describing the exact situations. Called Ford and they refused to do anything about it. Absurd that this defect and the related costs should be passed on to the consumer when it is an obvious issue with the truck.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

I left for work in the morning and I turned on the rear defrost because we had a heavy frost overnight. Window was fine when I got out of truck at work. It was a 10 minute drive to work. When I got back into truck 10 hours later to leave work, I saw that the passenger side of the three piece rear window was broken. The glass did not fall out of the frame so it was not from an impact. Air temp stayed just below freezing all day. Had to spend roughly an hour on the phone with my insurance company and my Ford dealer to get the part ordered. It will be four days till it will be fixed. I just hope nothing happens that will cause the glass to fall out of the frame. I drive my truck at least 6 days a week so I cannot be without it. Please do something about this issue.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2014

Rear defroster was on for approximately 15 minutes. After pulling into driveway and stopping rear passenger reported a funny smell. After turning off the vehicle and while stepping out the rear light on passenger side(which has defrost wires running through it) shattered with a loud pop. The glass remained in place but has spiderwebs throughout the whole light.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

I remotely started my f150 to warm up the vehicle on a morning that the outside temperature was 37f. While inside the vehicle I heard a load bang that sounded like glass breaking. Observed that rear passenger window shattered approx. Three minutes after rear defroster switch was turned on . Inspected glass both inside and out and observed that the glass was intact but the whole passenger side back glass what shattered as with safety glass would. I took the vehicle to the nearest dealer and they had seen the problem before but there advised it would not be under warranty or policy. Dealer gave me local csr to contact to discuss the issue and ask for policy. Glass estimate was around $621 for parts and 3 hrs of labor. Declined repair until speaking with csr to ask for consideration under policy. I dont know what I would have done if the glass would have fallen out during driver. Numerous incidences report of this exact mode of failure. Severe safety issue that needs to be addressed with Ford by NHTSA.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

While driving, the vehicle lost power completely so power steering was non-functional. Was able, with much difficulty, to guide the vehicle off of busy road and on to side street. Darn lucky I wasn't involved in accident. Had vehicle towed to crossroads Ford in cary, n. C. Here is word for word what the mechanic wrote. "vehicle towed in. Customer states vehicle turns over but won't start. Check and advise. "could not duplicate concern. Ran oasis. No codes. Read past hotline reports for bad pin fit for fuse 27 in under hood fuse panel. Tried to relocate to different location. Wire terminal damaged during removal. Installed inline fuse holder to fuel pump wire. Installed 20 amp fuse. Test drove and no problems at this time. " so basically, this was a flaw in manufacture regarding pin fit for fuse 27 that caused vehicle to cease power while driving and endangered passengers. I called Ford service at 800-392-3673 and case was opened. Case # cas5727652x5m4m9. Customer service rep at crossroads Ford was matt keil and mechanic was dan shaub. I spoke with service manager robert rudloff and he was made aware of situation and I'm waiting for his reply as to if there will be compensation.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

Initiated rear window defrost; abnormally loud "pop" from exploding passenger side rear-window glass.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2014

Approximately 2-3 minutes after turning on my rear defroster, the passenger side panel of the three panel rear glass shattered. Nothing struck the glass to cause this. Temperature outside was around f, windows were slightly foggy, not covered in frost.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

While driving into work, had the rear defrost active for roughly 10 minutes. At a stoplight, noticed smoke rising from outside of the rear window. As I proceeded to pull off the road, heard a loud bang and the passenger side rear window proceeded to spiderweb. The gasket for the rear window has been burned on the lower left hand corner (when observed from outside of the vehicle). It is apparent there is an issue with the rear heating element, as observed by the number of identical complaints on this site. I hope that Ford steps up and does something about this before someone actually gets hurt.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

Rear window defroster caught on fire and shattered rear window glass. This could be dangerous and should be recalled.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2014

Contacted Ford first about rh rear defroster not working. Luckily only had the burnt smell and not the explosion of glass. Being this is the highest number of complaints on this site Ford should really consider looking into this before possibly a child in a car seat gets a face full of glass. As usuall from Ford I received the usual form letter back about not being under any recalls. Vehicle only has 32,400 miles on it. Would like to know the actual manufacture Ford buys these from. Even offered if they were to send me a rear unit I would replace it myself as being a auto tech all my life and send the old unit back for verification.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2014

Used rear defrost (approximately 63 degrees outside) drove approximately 5 miles and passenger rear window shattered. Was sitting at a complete stop at a light. Sounded like a gun-shot. Researched the issue to find many other 2010 f150 owners with the same problem who were told it was a short in the rear defrost electrical. Ford will not cover repairs.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

Parked truck in a lot. Left the truck and was fine at the time. I have heard of the rear windows shattering before so I'm always looking at it. Get back to the truck and the window was shattered. Checked security footage at the lot and could not see anyone throw or hit it with anything. Not near a main road either. Rear driver side window with defroster (broken side), motorized center window.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

2010 Ford f150 . The rear right door ajar indicator will not turn off.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the tire pressure warning light illuminated. In addition, all of the electronics failed to operate in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, who stated that a high radio frequency had caused the electronics to fail in the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

When I try to start my car all of the warning lights and theft lights flash and the vehicle won't turn. If I leave it for some time and come back and try it, sometimes it will work. When it does work it's only briefly, the a/c goes out but still blows air, the instruments including speedometer go to zero even when I'm on the highway. This is a huge issue due to safety and reliability. I've taken it to a Ford dealership, they held it for two weeks and gave it back to me saying it was working fine. On my way back from the dealership, the same thing happened again. This has been a huge hassle and I've had to miss work because of it.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2014

Was driving approximately 30 mph turned on the rear defrost approximately 3-5minutes later rear passenger window shattered. Nothing hit the window it appears to be related to the rear defroster.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

Turned on the rear window defrost and a few minutes later the right-rear window (of the three piece power sliding rear window) exploded.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

Turned defrost on rear power slider window and heard a loud explosion like a gunshot and the rear window on passenger side shattered. There are small pieces of glass in the bed of the truck and on the back seat. Temperatures were in the mild 30s at the time. This was a problem with the defrost causing the glass to shatter. Ford will not cover repairs or replacement of the glass. Mileage less than 30,000 miles. Truck also covered under extended maintenance plan but Ford will not cover it there either.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2014

I was driving home 3/29/2014. It was late afternoon, raining and about 45â°f. I had my rear defroster on for about 10 mins when the rear window exploded. It sounded like a gunshot so the first thing I did was test my brakes to make sure I could stop, then scanned the dash and no weird lights. It was when I looked in my rear view seconds later that I saw my passenger side rear window (sliding rear window with 3 sections) was shattered.
