Fuel pump relay fuse (#27) will either blow or melt in fuse box. Replacing fuse will only fix problem temporarily, as melted area in fuse box will cause new fuse to not make consistent contact, leading to vehicle not starting when hot, or even engine cutting off while driving, causing really bad safety issue. Very difficult problem to fix, as dealers either give you the run around or want to replace entire fuse box and engine wiring harness which costs about $2000, parts and labor. 'solution' is to find wire to relay in fuse box, very difficult, and splice in an inline fuse. Have had mechanic and towing fees over $1000 so far, and still only have a bypass fuse installed. Local dealer was aware of the issue, as they see this problem all of the time, was told to call Ford, which had never heard of the problem. Another Ford owner next door has the exact same problem.
Wiring harness on 2010 Ford F-150 4x4 burns up at fuse box. Original harness was replaced by dealer in 2013. Second harness burnt up at fuse box after 16 months. Waiting for new harness at present time. It is the fuel pump connection that is burning up in the box by the fuse. When the harness burns through, the vehicle automatically stops, even while in motion. This constitutes a safety hazard as no notice occurs before burn up. No warning lights appear on dash to warn of this. Nothing has been done to correct the failure, other than replacing the wire harness that is burning up. They have done nothing to correct the reason for the burn up. All that has been done is replacement of the part that is damaged. . Have been waiting for over a month for parts. Other vehicles at the dealership are also experiencing this same issue.
On the morning of 12/29/14, he had a heavy frost so I used my rear window defrost on my drive to work. Drive was approx. 10 minutes. When I got out of the truck at work, all glass was ok. When I got back in truck to leave work, I looked in rear view mirror, I saw that the passenger side of the three piece rear window was shattered. The glass stayed in the frame and did not fall out. I had to spend over an hour on the phone with my insurance company just to file a claim, and it took the glass company two tries to install the new rear window and rewire it to make it work again. Ford knows there is a problem because they have changed the design on the window along with the wiring to the window. Why will Ford not step up and at least admit there is a problem with the rear defrost and offer to fix it.
While I was driving I turned my rear defroster on and about 5 min later I heard a load bang, looked around to see what it was and saw the passenger portion of the rear window was completely shattered. There was no impact on the window are clue to why it shattered. So I looked online and found this to be a common issue with the 2010 f150 trucks with power rear sliders. My daughter's car seat is directly under that window! Ford denied any knowledge of this issue and insisted they were not responsible and wouldn't cover repairs. I then learned that Ford has changed the wiring design for this window, a design that keeps electrical surges from over heating the defroster. My concern is that a shattering window poses a huge safety issue and Ford should be held accountable for their failure to keep their customers and more importantly the children of those customers safe!.
On a ~50 degree morning, I turned on my rear defrost when my rear window (passenger side) shattered about 5 minutes after I turned it on. This is a 3 piece window as the middle is a slider on the pickup, only the passenger side broke. I was driving with no other cars around as there must be a short or faulty wiring in the rear defrost. This was not covered under warranty by Ford and seems to be a common problem.

Filed a complaint eariler in the year about the electrical problems, and finally received a call back from the dealer. I took my 2010 Ford F-150 in and it was determined the wiring harness was defective. Well great. . . 900$ to get if fixed. Not covered under warranty. Truck will not start without it. Wow, I use to love Fords. . . Never again will I purchase a Ford of any kind. Thanks.
