1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

Was starting to accelerate out of a toll booth a vehicle and was about 60mph when suddenly the engine shut off. Electrical worked. Got mechanical symbol and then oil pressure low warning. It started to down shift and slow rapidly in traffic. Managed to get to side of road but almost got hit. Got it towed to dealer and the fuel pump fuse had melted. Shutting off the fuel pump.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2024

The vacuum pump recall was replaced in 2016 and it’s bad again. I have the emissions warranty with Ford I am 6 owner the other 5 owners were resale so I get the one time lifetime emission warranty. The truck is doing all kinds of crazy stuff.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2022

I was driving 65mph. The change oil soon message come on. I pressed reset to clear the message. Within seconds the truck jerked twice and when I looked at the dash I was in 1st gear doing over 5500 rpm. The speedometer showed I was not moving but no other indications of error on the dash. No wrench showing this time. I pulled over and turned the truck off. Restarted the engine and everything was just fine the whole way home from there. I drove the truck to the dealership (lawton, ok) to check the truck for me on Thursday but they seemed to think if the check engine light was not on there was no urgency. They know it is an f150 from 2011. They want me to return on the 16th for an appointment.

4 Other Fuel System problem

I have had actually weighed a problem her assembly problems I have had my brakes replaced in the rear I have had converter problems and I was also told that I should get a tuneup but didn’t need it! I have had some bad experience with my Ford f150 2011 super crew and all I ask is for a better experience! I’ve never had an accident in his truck! I never had a accident in this truck!!!! I have had so many problems with the truck!??.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2021

On certain days, usually humid days, when you approach a hill and give it gas, a wrench appears on the display and the truck goes into limp mode. It may go for weeks without doing this, but when it happens, you may get killed. Especially, if you are on a highway. You have no power to move the truck. You are a sitting duck. I took in to a service station and the cleaned the throttle body, but it still happens. If you drive slowly without changing accelerator position the truck will drive but too slowly. It happens far too much.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2021

I am sitting at a stoplight or street sign my foot is on the break all the way down and then all of a sudden it jumps forward. Then it started putting when I drove and kept getting worse and the check engine light flashes for a good minute. Everytime it said there was nothing wrong with it, and the dealership only found minor stuff that needed fixed but it was none of thoes that was causing this issue. So then I looked for recalls, and I had the recall on my truck done and then my truck started knocking. This is still happening and nobody can seem to figure out whats going on with the truck.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2020

I purchased my 2011 f150 ecoboost in used condition in 2014. The primary use for my truck is around town errands and hauling light loads. For sometime now I have had issues, like many others have complained as well, during acceleration at 45+mph the engine loses it's power, shudders and stalls. Once there is a reduction in the amount of throttle, it takes a few minutes to regain "normal" driving conditions. For example, my family and I were coming home from florida on the parkway, in July and with no abnormal weather conditions, and as I was ascending a grade about 75 miles per hour and a semi truck behind me, I gave the truck more throttle and it began to shudder violently, a subtle backfire, and lost power and could not regain throttle response. I quickly moved the truck into the emergency lane and had let the truck return to a normal idle, took a few minutes, before almost getting into a serious collision with the semi-truck. Over the past years I have just dealt with the issue and have taken it to mechanics and scanned the truck with no error codes or issues, until just recently. The mechanic scanned it and it showed misfires on #4 and #6. He replaced the coil and plug hoping that would be the cure, but with no luck it did not solve the issue. I'm reluctant to drop another $250. 00 to replace the rest of the coils, but I don't know what else to do. I do not have disposable income and the truck is payed for, I and can't afford to get another vehicle. I enjoy my f150 and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I have read post after post and video's that there are many people experiencing the same issues, but it seems no one is willing to step forward and make the complaint. I want this issue addressed and I hope Ford will resolve the issue before someone is seriously injured or a life is taken over this problem.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

Throttle body needs replaced after 120000 miles after car stalled into limp mode going highway speeds causing a dangerous situation. Truck diagnosed at baxter Ford south in omaha ne and anderson Ford in libcoln ne. This is a safety concern when the truck gave no warning signs and just hesitated and slowed down with little or no response to throttling. There are hundreds of cases of this with the Ford F-150 2011. There have been other Fords around that year that have had throttle body issues. I don't know why this is. It a recall?.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2019

While driving the orange wrench appears in the dash board. The power is shut down and the engine runs real rough like it only a 2 cylinders. But, there is no power and the gas pedal doesn't accelerate the truck. The motor is running, tho rough, but there is no power at all. This has happened about 10 times to me in the past 8 months while driving in traffic. You have to turn the truck off, wait a few minutes, then restart the truck and it runs again. I have taken it to Ford twice, leaving with them for 8 hours but they can't find any info on the truck computer to show any problems. I have also taken it to 2 different mechanics but they were unable to find and problem logged into the computer. Ford service manager said he never heard of this problem even tho I told hi the Ford forum board list this problem from other truck owners. The board lists the problem either from the throttle body or the throttle sensor but Ford again states they are unaware of this issue. Losing power and stalling in traffic could be a real serious issue and cause someone to get killed!!.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

Wrench light came on and truck lost all power with no warning. I shut it off and restarted it pressed the throttle down and had no throttle response. Shut it off again and restarted it and immediately mashed the throttle. . Made it to a garage. . Turned it off. . When I turned it back on no wrench light and or ran fine. The mechanic found no codes but I told him to replace throttle body and position sensor. . He did. . On the way home same thing happened. . Took it to local Ford dealer. They did diagnostic and found no problems. . There is a problem and a very dangerous one.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Vehicle runs rough and throws a check engine light. When the engine is warm it runs smoother. After trouble shooting possible problems, it was determined to probably be a sticky valve. It is my understanding, there was a recall on this particular issue. I want to know if this truck was serviced and the issue corrected while owned by the original owner. If yes, it is broken again.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2018

Upon hard acceleration, while trying to pass a vehicle, the vehicle shudders, shakes and stalls. The mph goes down and down even if pressing the gas pedal. I must pull over, put the truck in park and turn off the truck. Avoiding a head on collision is difficult when this happens. After restarting the truck, the engine light then comes on. This has happened on four different occasions. The gas mileage is now inaccurate and it appears that the "miles to empty" does not match the miles driven. Rivertown Ford (columbus, GA) claims to have no knowledge of this type of situation. Spark plugs & boots were said to be the cause the first time on 6/2/18. The 2nd time 12/12/18, the "intercooler shield was installed & pcm reprogrammed" -- I was promised this was the 100% fix. As of 2/28/20, rivertown advises their fix is out of warranty and now requires $650 for "engine tear down required to determine point of failure".

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

I was recently driving on a congested interstate highway at approximately 65 mph when the engine lost power and would not accelerate, the vehicle lost speed rapidly causing a dangerous situation while trying to exit the highway. The system went into "safe mode, also known as limp home. " this malfunction (Ford code p2112) has happened numerous times over the life of the truck.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2017

My v-6 ecoboost engine shudders upon accelerating, loses power, check engine light flashing on & off. This has occurred several times especially when the weather is damp. My truck only has a little over 75k.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

My name is michael pahura, I own a 2011 f150 ecoboost. Over the past 4 years I have encountered and same issue with the engine misfiring due to moisture getting in the intake. Everyone dealership personal I've spoken with has confirmed that it's a known issue with that year and model and there is no permanent fix. However when the engine continuously misfires it calls for service on the truck and replacement of certain parts. I am filling this complaint because I do not believe this right that Ford should be allowed to ignore a known issue that has almost gotten myself and family into a serious accident on the highway. As well cost me money out of pocket to correct. I would like to see someone hold Ford accountable before this issue gets someone killed.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2016

This is the second time I have had this issue with this truck, while merging on a highway, my truck loses all power and starts shaking rapidly, once again I was almost involved in an auto accident because I could not merge. When I initially had this issue 50 thousand miles ago, I brought my truck to auto-nation Ford in white bear lake minnesota, they said it was an issue of spark plugs, wires and coil packs, Ford also said the issue was the inter-cooler. Ford fixed all of those issues roughly 50 thousand miles ago, but here we are, my truck is at 100,xxx miles and this issue happened again! this is a serious safety issue, I have now been run off the road twice and almost crashed into a lake! when my truck loses all power and starts shaking rapidly, I lose control of the half ton truck. I contacted my local Ford dealership, (auto-nation Ford) in white bear lake, where I bought the truck and they would like me to pay in full for all of these issues, which Ford clearly knows about. I know for a fact I am never buying a Ford again, my safety and the safety of my family has now been compromised on multiple occasions and Ford has not once taking responsibility or offered to fix the issue. I am very disgusted with the way Ford has been handling these safety issues. When you buy a brand new truck and things like this happen, the company should take care of you, but once again, Ford has proved that they do not care about their customers.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2016

There is a recall on the 2011 Ford f150. However, my VIN is not the one affected. Even though it is the same transmission and year. I am having the exact same issue being described in the recall and on the forums. I drove the car after it was left for 36 hours and it downshifted after going 25 mph. I coasted back into a parking lot and turned off car and restarted, with the same issue. It eventually gave me a maint error (yellow wrench) I had to have it towed home. After it was shut off overnight if was fine the next day and no error code. I had a mechanic put a scanner on the truck and he could not pull the error code. I have used it sparingly for 3 days without an issue. I am just worried, it will happen again at any time or cause an accident with someone plowing into me when it downshifts. This could be a major problem if I am on a highway and it happens. I called Ford corp and they said since I am not on the recall per my VIN (even though it is the same year 2011 and transmission) so I am on my own. I have it documented with Ford and the dealer. Now what, just wait? NHTSA vehicle safety recalls recall number 16v248000 recall date 04/27/2016 component power train:automatic transmission summary Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured August 19, 2011, to March 9, 2012, 2012 Ford expedition, Lincoln navigator vehicles manufactured August 19, 2011, to December 19, 2011, and 2012 Ford mustang vehicles manufactured August 19, 2011, to February 21, 2012. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed. Consequence an unexpected downshift into first gear can cause the vehicle to slow down suddenly without warning and the rear tires may slide or lock, increasing the risk of a crash.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2016

One of the back bolts broke off of the right side of the exhaust manifold while driving. . This caused the gasket to fail which in turn made a loud noise. Because this is a turbo charged engine the motor lost power. Took truck to the dealer where they had to replace the entire exhaust manifold, gasket and broken bolts. Total repairs were $1214. 02.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Since I've owned this vehicle new, I've had a number of problems related to acceleration. Vehicle would almost stall on hard acceleration when getting on the freeway. Dealer replaced spark plugs & boots, but condition was not completely resolved. Vehicle would still on occasion repeat the same problem. More recently when driving yesterday, the engine light started blinking, then became steady. Of greater concerned I got an engine light & poor acceleration. Took the vehicle to the dealer & dealer is telling me that the timing belt needs to be replaced at a cost of $2000+. Vehicle had just turned 61000 miles. Dealer service agent tells me its not uncommon and could be caused by not getting the oil changed at recommended intervals. Vehicle has had regular oil changes at the dealer & other service facilities. Never heard of this & I think it's premature for a vehicle with 61000 miles to need the timing belt replaced. Never had this happen in 45+ years of driving.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2016

When driving the truck (what seemed like) shifted hard then the wrench sign came up on the screen and throttle would not work. I was doing 50 mph at the time and had to hit the hazards and pull over. Once I turned off the engine and turned it back on it seemed ok, pulled the code p2112 throttle body. Looked online and many , many people have the same issue. Can't believe this isn't a recall seeing how dangerous this is.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

Thousands of Ford f150 owners (20011-2015) bave experiencing with ecoboost engines mostly with my most recent issue "timing chain stretching chain" and faulty cam phasers, I believe we deserve to at least get our vehicles fix. I struggle paying my truck and I cant pay 4000 dlls to fix this issue that I strongly believe is a Ford's negligence. Please help us my name is manuel favela 915-7317818.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

While passing a semi on a two lane highway my ecoboost f150 began to shutter and loose power. I understand you have already investigated this issue and determined it was not a safety issue. After my experience today I respectfully disagree, let me explain. When this happens while passing someone and you're forced to slow down while in wrong lane. This can be quite scary, cars coming at you, cars behind you also wanting to pass and a large semi next you.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

Upon downshift during acceleration, the truck shudders, misfires, backfires through exhaust system, and loses power while creating a violent shake in the drivetrain. This occurs in below 35° dry or wet weather. This issue destroyed my catalytic converters, as well as broke loose the baffles in factory muffler causing over $2,000 in repairs for exhaust. I further replaced plugs, and plug boots. The vehicle continues to have this severe issue, and the only way to keep from further damaging the vehicle is to pull off the road, and idle as well as rev engine for several minutes. It is extremely unsafe, and nearly caused other vehicles to rear ended me on at least 5 occasions. All of which I had to jump onto shoulder of road or in median to keep from getting hit. My research shows that this is a common problem amongst owners of this vehicle. I currently owe $22,000 on this vehicle, and am quite frustrated with the lack of a recall from Ford. Solutions of a walker cac are known; however, Ford is not willing to even consider paying for this fix. Please help in the resolving of this issue?.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

I have the ecoboost motor. I was passing a vehicle on the highway the truck lost all power and started shuttering. The weather was dry and sunny. If they would have been someone coming and I had to accelerate hard to get around the vehicle that I was passing, it could have been bad. I took this truck in for this proble before to Ford and they put a air dam plate kit in front of the cac. They said that this was Fords fix for the problem so they know they a have defect with the system. This fix isn't working and I read where they weren't going to make Ford fix the problem that going to get someone hurt or killed in these vehicles someday. I guess that's what it take before something is done. This is my second complaint filed for this defect.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2015

Ford f150 3. 5l ecoboost completely looses power when accelerating in passing gear. Vehicle shutters and bucks severally and does not allow any type of acceleration to be able to exit into slow lane interstate traffic. Normal operation returns after about 1. 5 minutes of coasting and then gently applying accelerator to regain vehicle control. During the recovery time the engine runs very rough as if timing was completely out of sync. I drive 1000 miles per week on interstate 95 and this condition is ongoing. I experience at least 2 or 3 of these episodes per week when I try to accelerate to pass another vehicle. This is a safety concern to me because the vehicle looses power completely and does not recover until 1. 5 minutes later. The check engine light comes on very time this condition occurs. When reading the error codes it only show misfiring of all cylinders (code p0300).

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

Truck has loss of power when pulling out to pass at highway speeds nearly causing head on crashes.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2015

I have a 2011 Ford F-150 4x2 platinum 4 door pick, equipped with a 5. 0 litre v-8engine, which had 51881 miles when my problem occurred. We were in cameron, arizona, on our way to the east rim of the grand canyon. Turned off the truck, used their facilities, went back to truck, it cranked, but would not start, even after repeated attempts. Let set for one hour, still would not start. Called tow truck, which had to come from flagstaff. Dropped off at Ford dealer, as it is still under warranty. Went to the dealership the following morning, explained the problem, they told me that they had along list of vehicles to work on. I then tried to start the vehicle, it did start, picked my wife and belongings from the hotel, and drove, non-stop to el centro (350 miles). Took to dealer. It started again for them. Go figure! later that afternoon, it would not start for them. They then called Ford motor company, who told them what to look for, TSB 15-0137. They told me that this was a temporary repair, and that they would order a new fuse block, as fuse number 27 had melted the connections in the box, thus making it impossible to have a proper connection. The general manager told me about a personal friend of his who had this happen to his almost new truck, and he got rid of the truck. I cannot afford to do that. It has been since November 9, 2015 when this occurred, and now the agency, el centro motors 1520 Ford drive el centro, CA. 92243 (760) 336-2100 is telling me that repair TSB 15-0137 is a permanent repair, and that Ford motor company will not replace the fuse block and has no improvement fuse block available, and that the fuse blocks are not available, as there is a 120 day waiting period to obtain them.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2015

Fault log code p0234, turbo noise hissing, cutting out. Loss of power. Poor acceleration. Coolant leeks, oil leeks. Returned to corning Ford for more service work. Original service October 11 / 2015. Second service December 28 / 2015 coolant leek, turbo hissing, cutting out hissing when under acceleration. Condition when in motion on city street and highway driving.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

This is a ecoboost engine. When I go to pass someone the engine starts sputtering as if it is going to cut off. Loses power and is very dangerous. I noticed where this was under investigation but that has been dropped. Someone is going to be killed. This happens to me frequently. Seems like it happens in damp or humid weather. In most cases if it is a gradul acceleration it doesn't happen. I have owned the truck for the last 25000 miles and it has done it most of that time. I noticed that this problem was under investigation so I haven't taken it in hoping you would issue a recall. Don't wait until it is too late.

30 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

When the turbo boost is 11psi misfiring begins - no after market engine programming. If turbo demand is not reduced, or is increased the engine light will come on and the transmission will be disengaged - 'limp mode. ' on the date cited, this happened no less that 3 times. Local humidity was 50-70%, as I recall, and there was no rain. I have experienced this multiple times with local humidity noted at 50 %. My experience is that the misfiring will occur anytime turbo psi exceeds 11, whether towing or not, though towing will be more apt to encounter 11psi. My trailer is within all tow load limits for my truck, axles and tongue, per Ford's RV & trailer towing guide. My first experience with the truck going limp was June of 2014. I pulled the truck to the shoulder next to a guard rail and called for towing. The local Ford dealer said that there had been a #3 cylinder misfire and a momentary head over-temp was - which triggered limp mode. I have reported the misfiring to my dealer, and with Ford's customer service. The dealer says Ford has nothing listed for my truck or the issue. I told customer service and my dealer that there is plenty of internet traffic on this issue. Aside from the technical service bulletin implemented to put a larger air shield on the intercooler (cac), done to my truck in 2014 as a result of my experience, the issue still exists. It would seem to me that Ford has not engineered a water separator to then drain off developed water from the condensation process before it is ingested into the cylinders. Ingestion of the water into the cylinders would cause a spark misfire, as was suggested to me by a Ford mechanic. My vehicle is still under a Ford issued extended warranty, as a result of a separate transmission issue. God forbid this occur while to someone towing on a two lane road with no shoulder!.

31 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

While driving down the highway about 55 mph the vehicle will down shift and the odometer will die and drop to zero, most of the indicators will have dashes instead of numbers. The truck will automatically slow down causing me to have to pull off the road to avoid an accident. I then have to turn the vehicle off and remove the key from ignition and restart the vehicle up again to reset all the gauges. This normally happens within the first 10 miles of driving the vehicle. This would only happen on a few occasions now it is happening more frequently. There was a recall issued around the 1st of July 2016 but I was told the software fix would not be ready until the 3 quarter of the year. Ford now wants to charge me $131. 00 to diagnose the problem. I should not have to pay for it to be diagnosed if they already have a recall. I wonder how many lives will be in danger until the 3rd quarter update is available.

32 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Truck will have severe intermittent stumble/misfiring on acceleration from 45mph+ in humid, wet or damp conditions. The vehicle shudders violently, bogs down, and check engine light flashes eventually becoming a solid engine light. This involves the engine shuddering when there is acceleration at highway speeds; this is very dangerous when trying to pass vehicles at highway speeds. Have my spark plugs and coils replaced after the following happened in damp and wet weather conditions. Make years seem to involve 2011-14 ecoboost trucks. From thousands of Ford forum posts, the trucks have an intercooler condensation problem that is causing poor performance and spark plugs/coils to fail early. Water and oil vapor/residue condensation is being sucked into the engine. People have had to take it upon themselves to find a solution by drilling a 1/16 hole in the low point of the intercooler driver's side to drain oil/water condensation/residue or install a $400-$500 oil catch can separator which Ford should be offering to owners with this problem. Ford should own this problem and issue an appropriate fix like the oil catch can installation or confirm with its owners that it is ok to drill a weep hole in the intercooler. Not the cheap fixes I have seen like TSB 13-8-1.

33 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that fuel fumes emitted into the vehicle. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact found a leak and noticed that the fuel was spraying out of the catalytic converter. The dealer was contacted and made the contact aware that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000. Pam.

34 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2015

Attempting to accelerate to pass a slower vehicle on the highway. Truck began shuddering and immediately decelerated to 50mph. Would not respond for approximately 75 yards, then would not accelerate over 60mph. Two vehicles (one of those vehicles was a tractor-trailer) following had to take evasive action to avoid rear-end collision. Exited the highway, put the vehicle in park. No warning lights were engaged. Weather was sunny and warm. Now vehicle is shifting very hard with a delayed engagement between 55-60mph.

35 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2014

The ecoboost engine Ford introduced into the f150 (and other vehicles) in 2011 seems to be having common and widespread problems, including my vehicle. I first reported this issue to the dealer with about 30,000 miles and now again at 63,000 miles. The safety issue is revealed under any acceleration "event" such as highway merging, passing, towing etc. Under acceleration the vehicle "chokes" and will not accelerate as the driver & passengers experience the vehicle stalling, shuddering or bucking. This is often described as the vehicle going into "limp mode" operating on fewer than all cylinders. The problems appear to stem from dysfunctional intercooler operation on this twin turbo engine. There are two different scenarios described in f150 blogs. One, most common, is that the cooling of the air via the intercooler causes condensation to accumulate inside the air intake. When the driver accelerates, the increase in air volume draws the moisture into the fuel delivery system and causes the engine to misfire, which the driver experiences as an engine stall, bucking or shuddering. The second scenario reported is that there is an overheating of air into the fuel deliver system which causes early detonation of the fuel mixture in the cylinders causing roughly the same symptoms. My vehicle repairs are costing me almost $700. 00 - which would be more if I did not have an extended warranty. The dealer is replacing 6 spark plugs, 4 coil boots that have overheated and cracked, installing a new intercooler shield - none of which they are standing by as a dealer covered expense. Ford needs to be held accountable for this defective design for both consumer safety and financial reasons. Someone may be killed trying to pass or enter a highway as their vehicle suddenly looses power.
