general problems of the 2013 Ford F-150 - part 2

I have had a problem with the transmission molded lead frame 19n01 it also shows a wrench when this problem occurs. This caused my vehicle to not show the speed limit of my vehicle. It also caused my vehicle not be able to accelerate. I then worried about this problem due to this incident was on the highway and almost caused a crash.

The dash panel is periodically going blank and I noticed that this is a recall on the Fords in 2023. Is this the same issue on older models Fords f150 as well.

Strong electrical burning smell coming through hvac system. Try to locate it. No luck. Also trouble with headlights turning on randomly. Bcm? I don’t know. You almost pass out from the smell. This has been going on for at least two or three years.

2013 Ford f150 crew cab back window shatters when defroster activated. When I pushed the defrost button the window on the back drivers side shattered. This is a major safety concern.

We have had multiple occurrences of a dangerous situation on a 2014 f150. Vehicle died three times. Once at 65mph, randomly shut off going down the road. After waiting for help for 30 mins, decided to try restarting, fired right up. Second time, I was 800 miles from home. Shut off vehicle after long highway run pulling trailer. Vehicle refused to restart, then after 30 mins or so restarted. Third time, I drove three blocks for fuel, at 3am. Vehicle was dead on service station drive, refused to restart. Waited 90 mins for wrecker. Tried several times to restart, never did. When it unloaded from the wrecker, it fired right up. There were no warning lamps, check engine lights or any other indicator of impending doom. The safety of myself and others definitely was at risk. On the first occurrence I was in rush hour traffic with a dead vehicle. The second occurrence left me stranded in a remote location. The final occurrence left me stranded in the dark with a dead vehicle at 3am. The issue is documented by Ford service bulletin TSB-15-0137. I find this to be a very disturbing situation, as the fuel pump fuse melts, causing a dead vehicle. The problem was diagnosed by an independent repair facility. The f27 fuel pump fuse is very well documented in f150 forums. I wouldn't want to endanger my spouse driving this in any traffic. It is a $20 part that should be a recall.

Diagnosed by local goodyear service. The leadframe on transmission need replacing. Truck randomly shuts off, shifts wrong & dash lights are weird. Ford dealer says not a recall & truck is too old for extended warranty. Ford customer service says the same. And this isnt a safely issue?! dealer says $700+ to fix. Just spent nearly $1800 to fix a broken leaf spring - in the middle layer of the spring - & truck has never been overloaded - Ford company would not tell me if that had a recall because it was not diagnosed by dealer. It was rubbing on 1 of new tires good thing we did not have a blowout!.

Every time I drive my truck, it has a hard time shifting from 1st gear. The gauges will go crazy then stop all together and it will go into what seems to be low power mode. Several times while driving, it will try to shift, and cause me to skid, or will not speed up above 10 to 15 mph.

I took my truck in a couple of weeks ago to get the recall done due to downshifting. Picked it up the next day and they told me they resolved the issue. The next day it happened again and it continued for a week. I called the dealership (holmes tuttle Ford) and they said they would charge me $200 plus maintenance fee even though it is a recall. Fast forward to today and my truck went out and will not start. Called Ford and they informed me that although they cleared the recall they did not actually fix the problem because it was not present when they turned it on and told me I would have to repair it on my own even though they did not attempt to fix it.

Felt the truck lurch, then airbag dash light came on, as well as the orange wrench light. Then, odometer and instant mpg read both read as zero even though I had a full tank and was going 55 mph. I couldn’t tell how fast I was going on the highway. Have not been to dealer yet, but found a recall online for the exact same problem to do with a 2013 recall on f150 for molded lead frame.

Transmision will suddenly down shift from 6th gear to 1st gear while traveling at speed of 50 - 60 miles per hour. Yes vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicles rearend locks up and causes loss of control of vehicle. Has not been inspected by a Ford dealer or independent. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacture, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Problem started mid to late 2024.

Rear view camara some time work and some time go to blue screen o not showing nothing in general useless.

While driving at highway speed 75mph our truck shut down with no warning. A wrench light came on with no other warnings. No check engine light no warning went from highway speed to limp mode zero power almost got rear-ended trying to make it off highway with no power. The problem is the throttle body has oil intrusion on the dry electrical side shorting out the motor with oil! Ford could care less until someone gets killed they will deny any issues! I also have pictures of item full of oil! this is a no warning problem and Ford cannot diagnose.

I have a exhaust manifold leaking on the drive side lower back side. I'm scared it could catch my truck on fire if a backfire could happen while with my family with me.

I was driving home from work and speedometer stoped working. My truck downshifts with no warning. I don't know if this is a transmission issue. Would not show my speed also the gas gauge is always at half way. The truck is a danger and sits parked in my yard due to it being so unsafe. Why won't Ford fix their broken vehicles?.

The vehicle shifts into first gear on the freeway. There is a known problem with the conductor plate or flex plate and makes the outboard shaft speed sensor malfunction and the speedometer turns off often on the freeway. When it does this the truck thinks it has come to a stop and shifts down to first gear. Luckily I didn't drop my transmission on the freeway and I've researched this problem ahead of han accident but I know Ford knows about this because every mechanic I've spoken to knows what the problem is when I tell them my 2013 f 150 has the conductor plate issue. Apparently they changed my year truck to a plastic plate. . . .

Complaint: speedometer is not working, loss of function of speedometer while driving and downshifting of the gear. The instrumental cluster showed a maintenance warning while driving in which will cause the speedometer to stop working. When trying to drive the vehicle on a stop position, there is a delay on the acceleration. Vehicle feels like it's on 2nd or 3rd gear. This may lead to loss of control on vehicle. I brought my vehicle to Ford service, I had them do a diagnose on my vehicle. The only issue they're able to find is the cooling system leak and rotor/brake pad replacement in which I ended up costing $3700. Knowing this would resolve the main issue. They had my truck for a month and after 24 hours of receiving my vehicle the main issue showed up and can't use it again due to safety issue. I believe the issue of my vehicle is part of 2013 Ford F-150 recall, but my vehicle has not received a recall. I believe this is the issue my vehicle experiencing below. Recall 19v433000 recall 19v075000 how come Ford service did not know about my vehicle issue when it is the 2013 Ford f150 recall problem. But they let me spend big bucks for nothing and still not to be able to use my vehicle until now.

Took my vehicle in for 145,000 mile check. Informed the gas pump fuse relocation was not performed, started to melt. For the fix I was asked to pay $336. This an electrical and fuel issue. It is a known issue by Ford. Should this not be a recall, if it is a safety concern?.

On my way to work I turned on the rear defrost and heard a loud bang after 15 minutes. I pulled over to see what had happened and the read driver side windshield pain had shattered. It remained in the laminate but I got a replacement quote and its almost $1000 dollars. After doing research this is a major problem with the defrost mechanism on these trucks with no known fix. I'm glad it stayed in take but the glass is continuously cracking as I drive and I cannot get the repair done until Thursday and the dealer said they can do nothing except replace the glass and hope it doesn't happen again.

Shaft rattle on cold start up- started around 140,000 miles- safety issue *vacuum pump leaking causing other unknown problems, when running the heater and a/c, blows strong cloud of exhausted in the passengers face- safety and health issue *driver seat will not move- checked all power and seat motor- no issues found. Dealerships unable to figure out issue. First the problem was intermittent now no movement - safety issue * a/c will not blow cold air, everything else works correct, full charge, fuse etc. Unable to find the issue. Intermittent issues. Safety issue - unknow if this is causing the problem most of these issues are not throwing check engine light, they only say to check voltage. I have contacted several dealerships who agree that this is a on going issue with this make, model and several years. Ford found the issue and corrected on newer model but refuses to help with the ones on the road.

We are having downshifting issues and the speed is randomly changing. The truck came to a stop while still driving. The speedometer doesn’t reflect accurate to the truck speed.

This has now happened countless times. The truck will be in a gear, as I naturally speed up, the transmission will jerk and the truck will get stuck in the following gear. The truck will then be stuck in that gear and will not downshift. A big wrench light comes on, then turns off about 10 seconds later. In addition, the odometer lists dashes (---,---), no mileage measures. The speedometer stays at 0 mph even when driving in the stuck gear. Another light stays on, I think it is the airbag image. Everything stays as is until I turn off the truck. Once I turn off and turn back on, everything goes back to normal. I've taken the truck to Ford, but because there are no "check engine" lights and there are no codes, Ford will not cover. My mechanic has confirmed (without any codes) that the recall is tsb16-0008, which was issued in March 2019. Since my truck is showing no codes, and my truck is over 10 years old, Ford says they will not cover. This is extremely concerning. If the truck downshifts on the highway, or refuses to downshift when needed, I could be in a serious accident. As mentioned, this has now occurred countless times.

01 Apr 22, vehicle was received from penske Ford after coolant leak to include scheduled maintenance such as engine oil and filter change, engine air filter, transfer case fluid change, drive belt, front differential fluid change and lastly the transmission fluid and filter change. Mileage in was at 156877 and mileage out from the services was 156879. Approximately 6,000 miles added from the mileage counter, the vehicle experienced sudden downshift with speedometer dropping to zero and passenger airbag caution illuminated on the dashboard. Upon reading the code via the obd2 code reader, the following dtc were noted: p0720 output shaft speed sensor circuit; p0722 output shaft speed sensor circuit no signal; u0401:00-0b invalid data received from ecm/pcm a; b00a0:68-8b - occupant classification system; u0401:68-0b invalid data received from ecm/pcm a; u0401:00-0a. Safety risk was the sudden down shift while going at normal speed or flow of traffic. Sudden downshift can result into a rear end collision. The vehicle has not been inspected since the malfunction however, through research of TSB 19n01 and contacting the dealership, it was determined that the extended warranty did not apply due to the mileage exceeded the 150,000 therefore I ended up buying and fixing my own vehicle with current mileage of 163421. 4 at completion. This vehicle was also recalled for 19ns19 because of 6r80 transmission. I am unsure if this warrants another recall however, it is my belief that it should be looked at again.

The gears automatically changed while in motion driver at risk of loss of control of vehicle and pedestrians in residential area at risk of contact symptoms cannot be duplicated and verified by manufacturer vehicle has been inspected by local auto diagnostic repair buisness warning error displayed on driver console of 'open wrench' indication of random electrical or mechanical error.

The truck will suddenly down shift while I'm driving . Speed omitorr shuts down. As well when this happens please let me know if you need any thing else.

The 4wd differential lock button malfunctions and turns the differential lock on randomly. The button is fully pressed in and not engaged. The housing is loose.

We accelerated onto the freeway and the engine revved extremely high. We started experiencing lulls in speed and the transmission was shifting unexpectedly or not at all when it should have. You could feel stutters and bumps while the truck was driving on the flat surface of the freeway. The truck started to go into limp mode on the freeway so we had to pull over.

The wrench came on speedometer wasn't working acted like it wasn't shifting correctly turn signals wouldn't turn off after completing a turn and fuel mileage wasn't working looked in owners manuel found it says power train malfunction/reduced power contact authorized dealership as soon as possible.

Driving down highway at 65 miles per hour the truck lurched forward and acted like it had a total loss of power. The speedometer dropped to 0 and stayed. The airbag light came on. The truck downshifted from 6 gear to 1 st gear instantly , throwing the truck into a slide. I lost control of it , went into a ditch came back up on the road as it proceeded to lurch forward and stop consistently like it was possessed ! I threw it into neutral and as the motor was redlining as well. The center info screen went blank and a wrench appeared on it to the right. I drove to my work in 3 rd gear and it shifted up to 5 th. But would not shift down up past that. I had it towed to the only dealer that worked on transmission recalls. I paid 65$ to have it towed. They did the reprogramming as per Ford. I got it back a month later. Worked great for 4 days then on my way to a tire rotation at 71 mph it did it again . Downshifted to 1 st. Violently. This time I almost got hit by a semi truck! had it towed again , cost me 90$ this time. Same place. They got in a fix part for it some ring assembly that goes in transmission. Gonna cost me over 370$ for certain parts the recall won’t cover. We will see if this fixes it.

I have a 2013 f150 3. 5 l v6. I can be driving down the road and a truck will stick and first second and third gear pull off the road park and turn it off then turn it back on then it’ll be fine happens periodically but no warning lights come on and then I drove it the other day and it was stuck in third gear ,speedometer quit working ,mileage quit ,working the wrench light ,come on and then the check engine light come on. Been to the dealership twice and the first time they change out the plug block on the transmission said it was leaking that didn’t fix the problem then I took it back a week later and they said they couldn’t get it to do anything wrong now three months later it is starting to happen more frequently had code check p0721 said it was the output shaft speed sensor can anything done to fix the problem . So I don’t have to keep spending money when I take it to the dealership where I bought the truck in August 2020 it came with a two-year bumper bumper warranty.

The lower left hand corner of the passenger side rear window started to smoke and burn from the rear window defrost mechanism. Smoke was seen and the rear window defrost was turned off. The window then shattered. I had a child sitting in front of this area but no injury was sustained. I have not had the vehicle serviced for this issue at this time.

Fuse for fuel pump keeps burning out causing engine to shutdown or not start at all. Smell wire burning smell when opening hood to check fuses. Am afraid this will eventually cause a fire in fuse box. Looked up videos on youtube and it states that Ford recommends rerouting fuse port but this is electrical in nature and could cause a fire or perhaps other mechanical failures. I am not a mechanic nor do I have financial means to pay someone to reroute a bad fuse port which can eventually cause a fire.

Lost all of the electrical power to my truck as iw as going to drop it off at the dealership for a recall. On my way there my truck downshifted into first gear over reved the motor and caused it to shut the motor down and loss of the computer as well. I had it towed to my local shop. I called Ford to see what they want me to do next and said to have it towed there and I did. Ford cant get power to the truck because there motor is no good. Ford also tells me that the oil is way over full. But I know it wasn't over full it holds 6 quarts of oil and I know that. So they state that the oil is over filled and blew the truck up. But the problem is the computer and in that event caused the motor to blow up and push gas and break fluid into the motor truck only has 80,000 miles on it. This I feel as a manufacturers default and frontier Ford of anacortes wa. And Ford its self only honors there own techs so they are going by what they say. I have been dealing with this for almost 7 months with out a truck witch has cost me a job and among other issues and loses. I feel as they didnt honor or care about the customer or even looking into the dealership that has my truck. When I asked to seak with a supervisor I was told they are no supervisor available and that they would call me back I have still never heard from them. How long must I be without a truck or a jib because they arent doing there job correctly and making my life here impossible to get a head in such hard time as it is. Thank you otto bradatsch. I was driving at about 30-35mph and my truck shifted into 1st gear unexpectedly. I have started to notice it doesn’t shift quite like it supposed to.

Driving normal on highway and truck turned off. No power steering. No brakes. No power. Almost crashed with 18 wheelers. Was going 65 on third lane on a 6 lane highway.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at highway speed,her usb port had initially failed to operate as needed and that soon after, the display screen had drawn completely blank. The contact's daughter had pulled over and restarted the vehicle multiple times but the failure persisted. As she proceeded to drive the vehicle at 40 mph, the vehicle independently downshifted as the vehicle stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the contact hit another vehicle from behind. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. No medical attention was given at the scene; however, his daughter did suffer minor bruising. The whereabouts of the other driver was unknown. A police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer where they have yet to inspect or diagnose the failure. The contact stated that his vehicle was previously placed under NHTSA campaign number: 19v433000 (power train) which he linked to his failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
