Turn signals, speed control radio functions, windsheild wipers stopped working! it effects people in front ,back or side knowing what I am doing so they can react like turning in any direction , my vision is blocked during rain or snow and will cause an accident harming me or others . ' no warning lamps came on when problem happened ! ' problem has been confirmed by a qualified mechanic !.
When shifting into reverse, backup camera screen went to a constant blue screen — no rear image at all now.
Rear camera image becomes distorted or inoperable during reversing. Discovered recent a recall covers many similar vehicles however not my specific vehicle despite having the same issue.
Driving through thunderstorms the rear sliding window popped out from the bracket. The top bracket came loose allowing the window to pop out. This top bracket was fastened with 4 strips of 2 sided tape. Had to pull over and tape the window & bracket.
The windshield has tiny spec between the glass not a scratch on window or chips when its realy sunny out you cant see it really hard. This should be a recall at no charge. Its an accident ready to happen.
The window has little specs between the glass it’s very hard to see when the sun is blaring on it . Its not anything on the window sheild or on the inside glass it’s between the glass.
The windshield wiper linkage could corrode and seize. If this happens, the windshield wipers may not work. Windshield wipers that don't work could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
My f150 2016 rear glass shatter for no reason. It was parked in driveway and when I came out of morning.
Back up camera failure the day after I bought the truck from a dealership. With the vehicle lifted in the rear and the blind spots it has mirrors only do so much before you have to open the door while backing up just to make sure it’s good enough or you aren’t sticking out while parked. It hasn’t been professionally inspected. No lights but it started as a black screen with green lines and eventually turned to a bright blue screen that is blinding at night when trying to back up.
When operating the turn signal and using the wipers on delay, I smelled a plastic like burning smell thinking it was the wiring in the controller arm. This happened several times and eventually the wiper runs 100% on the time delay with no way to turn off except by pulling the fuse. I can operate the normal speeds of the wipers when it rains if needed but I still get a smell sometimes. I have not had the issue looked at but will next week at an independent repair shop. I'm concerned maybe an electrical issue could cause a fire at some point in time.
Got into vehicle and before starting window just shattered. No issues prior with the rear window just random and for no apparent reason it shattered from inside out.
The windshield wipers are stuck on the slowest, intermittent speed and won’t turn off. This is a known issue.
Intermittent wiper operation stop working. Yes it is available for inspection. Had to operate wiper operation manually. No! not confirmed. No inspection by others. Unknown. Just skip, then stoped intermittent operation.
The rear window shattered spontaneously after using remote start. Problem has been reported a lot with 2015 and newer f150 trucks.
On a morning in the 30s, remote started the truck and shortly after heard a pop sound. Walked out a few minutes later to find the back windshield had shattered sitting in my driveway.
I was driving at a slow speed on a dirt road directly into the sun when it was just rising. The conditions of the sky were slightly hazey. The entire windshield turned into a bright white light. (from right to left and top to bottom covering every square inch of the windshield) I could no longer see outside in front of me. I stopped. It was brighter than the sun 100 fold. No matter where I moved, the bright light of the windshield did not allow me to see. I had to roll down my window and place my head outside the vehicle to keep from driving off the road and into a different direction about a mile up the road. After going in a different direction everything was all right. I am concerned for other drivers that they may encounter this similar situation possibly causing an accident. My conclusions were: 1. The direct sunlight into the multiple star pits caused from highway/roadway gravel onto the windshield combined with windshield wiper fluid created the bright light that made the vehicle unsafe and undrivable. 2. The angle positioning of the windshield had something to do with the bright light. . . 3. The use of armoural on the dashboard as a preservative caused a chemical reaction onto the inside of the windshield (greasing the inside of the windshield contributing to the flash of bright light across the windshield). I will keep the windshield for 72 hours for your inspection. I plan on having the windshield replaced. This is a very dangerous situation. Vr/rc robin conners.
This afternoon when it started to rain I turned on my wipers only to discover they would not turn on. I managed to get off the road and even tried swapping fuses, but the wipers still wouldn’t turn on. I had my child in the car and this was a very dangerous situation! Ford is telling me that the wiper recall doesn’t cover my truck. Help!.
Upon entering my truck, I noticed the rear (powered) window seemed to be open, despite leaving it in the closed position. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the glass and trim were not correctly seated and it appeared as though the adhesive that holds the parts had failed (true cause unknown as I didn't observe the occurrence). This is a safety issue because 1) I have a young child who rides in the rear seat of the vehicle, and the glass moves freely since it is off-track. 2) the electric components are still working, and if my spouse (who doesn't drive my truck often) were to forget there was an issue, moving the glass which is not correctly articulating in its track could cause it to break (I am uncertain as to whether or not it is shatter-resistant). 3) we have had a lot of rainy weather, and due to the exposure of electrical components to the weather, could cause a short or electrocution if touched. 4) the glass could be easily pushed inward or aside from outside of the truck leaving it more vulnerable to break-in or theft. This issue is currently available for inspection upon request however, I will be getting it repaired within the next few days as it cannot wait. I have not yet had a dealer confirm the issue, nor had it inspected by any other party. I am aware of at least a few dozen 2015-2020 Ford f150 owners having this problem, it seems to be a known issue among owners of these vehicles. There were no warnings or vehicle generated messages. I respectfully request this issue be investigated because of safety concerns and evidence of widespread component failure. Thank you for your time.
The rear sliding window mechanism failed. The top track for the window was poorly affixed and has come off of the rear cab leaving the window hanging and unattached.
The windshield wipers seem to work intermittently. I turn the wipers to its highest setting and it does not run. It seems to be working with the rain sensing but only after passing the first tick on the wiper arm.
2016 F-150 XLT v8 windshield wipers run uncontrollably with key turned on, can't turn wipers off, had to pull fuse. With wipers inoperable truck is operating unsafely with reduced visability. I changed wiper relay and turn signal stalk and problem persists. I called fmc customer service and they could not assist. Ford dealer made appt 4 weeks from now.
On 3/11/2023, I used my vehicles, 2016 Ford F-150 platinum, remote start feature before leaving work. When I got in my truck to go home, I noticed that the rear window of my vehicle was shattered. After some further investigation, it appears the rear defroster heat element malfunctioned, and shattered the rear window. This caused glass particles to circulate within my truck, as there was nothing protection wind from coming in the rear window area. Upon further research, it appears that this has happened to numerous other vehicles of similar make/model/year. I have contacted Ford and am awaiting their response. This is a safety feature and a malfunction of their vehicle, therefore they should be responsible.
Back window shattered as a result of a rear defrost malfunction. Outside temperatures were around 20 degrees f so I used my remote start to warm up my vehicle before leaving. Upon entering the vehicle approximately 5-7 minutes later I noticed an odd smell that I can only describe as electronics overheating or burning. Then about 5 minutes into my drive on a smooth road and without any other incident I experienced a very loud popping noise and immediately pulled over to investigate. What I noticed right away was that the entire back window (with the exception of the small power window) was shattered and was starting to fall into my vehicle. When calling for a quote to replace my window, two of the shops both indicated that this is a know problem with Ford f150's due to the rear defroster malfunctioning. I have a crew cab f150 and regularly use it to transport my 3 young children, and luckily they were not with me on this trip, but I am very worried that this could have resulted in shards of glass right by their heads where they are sitting. Other than the odd smell I noticed that day, there were no messages or symptoms of this problem. I live in a cold climate and often use the remote start without any similar issues.
Was told the steering wheel control module needed replaced. Was driving and the blinkers stopped working, window washerfluid button doesn’t work, and anything pertaining to the hazard switch is not working. This is very dangerous to not have working blinkers and windshield wipers not working as they should. Was told that the part is on back order until December or January. Hopefully we will see it before that since it’s a primary vehicle and I don’t feel safe driving it with my children in the car.
Wipers will not shutoff, continue to wipe at the slowest setting. This is occasionally intermittent and sometimes does not start to be an issue until the wipers are engaged once, then they will not shutoff.
Rear window spontaneously exploded on July 8th around 11:00am. My truck was parked and not driven for two days. The rear window exploded and shattered. The glass was everywhere, in the truck bed and all over the cab. The seats and carpet have shards of glass embedded in them. I called tom masano Ford in shillington PA. Spoke to lydia a service advisor. She told me that Ford would not cover the repair/replacement of the rear window. She stated that Ford would not take any responsibility for this safety issue. There was no warning lamps, messages, ect prior to the window exploding. We have an appointment at tom masano Ford on Monday July 18th.
We discovered water in the glove compartment after rain. The passengers identified headliner has clearly had water issues prior to our purchase of this vehicle used. We applied silicone caulking to the top, passenger side windshield. After further rains, the water seems to be collecting under the dashboard and spills out when turns are made or velocity changes. Further silicone caulking of the windshield may be preventing leakage, but we are not fully assured of that.
Rear-view backup camera inoperative. Started with broken/fuzzy images with lines then went to blue screen after several weeks. Completely inoperative now. Electrical connections at tailgate have been checked, camera replaced to no avail. Available for inspection if necessary. Safety issue as I can no longer see my front sidewalk when backing into or out of my driveway as children frequently ride scooters up and down the street’s sidewalks. The vehicle has not currently been inspected by anyone for this issue. No warning lamps or messages, just the inoperative display when the camera should be on. Everything else works as intended.
Front differential grinding when driving. Ford replaced iwe check valve and problem came back about a month later. Windshield washer fluid pump failed.
Rear window shattered while sitting in the driveway. Vehicle was on and running at the time warming up.
The line that sprays the windshield washer fluid freezes up all the time when it is cold out. This makes it almost impossible to see at times. I end up having to pull over on the side of the road and try to get it working again. The thing I found that works the best is pinching the hose in different areas and then pouring washer fluid on the line through the spaces in the cover. I was out for the last three hours and it never worked a single time! this is extremely dangerous to both myself and my passengers (which includes my wife and 10 year old son). . . But also to every other driver or pedestrian out on the road. Every time I take it into a Ford dealership they claim not to know anything about the problem and they don't know how it can be fixed. I know how it can be fixed. Run the hose on the inside of the hood like every other vehicle so that the engine heat can keep it warm. Instead. . . Ford runs it in this plastic cavity in between the hood and the windshield. And if it's not bad enough that it's exposed to the cold. . . . They then put vent slits in the housing even further exposing it to the elements. The fact that washer fluid, that is designed not freeze in the first place, is somehow freezing in the lines so neither nozzle works is crazy to me. I have never had this happen on a vehicle before, but is a constant problem with my platinum F-150.
Windshield washer fluid line (under hood) constantly freezes up- causing sprayers not to spray which is extremely dangerous from a visibility standpoint. Windows become quickly caked with slush and dirt from wet/ snow-filled roads. This happens multiple times, regardless of the type of windshield washer fluid that is used. Husband constantly needs to stop/ get out to correct the issue. Husband has taken our vehicle into one auto repair shop- they were unable to correct the issue. Spoke w/ another this weekend and the auto repair tech said it is a known issue and he actually has the same issue w/ his truck. He wasn't aware of a fix. He stated that he actually carries around extra water bottles so he can spray his windshield at stop signs when the windshield becomes hard to see through. My husband is not a mechanic-- but he believes the issue may be the placement of the windshield washer fluid line. Please google this issue-- there are multiple complaints online.
My name is [xxx]. My girlfriend and I bought a used 2016 F-150 truck back in July 2021, about 3 months earlier. We were driving yesterday (oct 19, 2021) out from a panera parking lot and suddenly, all we heard was a loud bang, almost like a gunshot. We did not know what it was originally so we looked around and saw the rear window had exploded into million pieces and shattered. Luckily, we did not have any pets/children/people sitting in the back, otherwise this would be a trip to the emergency room as the shatters were all over the back seat and inside the truck bed. When we came home, we looked online and found multiple incidents that this happens with the F-150 and Ford has not issued a public recall or done anything to prevent it. We called our dealer that we bought the truck from and they denied/pretended to not know what we were talking about and gave us a 3rd party to get a quote to repair the glass (which we found out it was almost $1000!) we tried and called another Ford dealer, and alas, same thing happened. They blatantly denied and pretended that they did not know or hear anything like that before, even though, if you do a quick google search, thousands of owners had had this issue! this is a safety issue and Ford needs to own it and do something about it. For us we were lucky to not transport anyone with us, otherwise I would imagine pieces of glass would be implanted in faces, eyes, bodies,. . . The vehicle that we were driving is in top shape and insured. All maintenance is done and up to date, even recalls have been done on the truck. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
We bought this used truck from the Ford dealership only 3 months prior! the car max report and other research we did before buying showed 0 issues like this with the truck. We used auto start, which does turn rear defrost on max, leaving a store parking lot. Driving through parking lot pulling up to stop light less than 5 minutes after starting truck and as we begin to slow down we heard a terrifying loud explosion sound. We turned around and the entire rear windshield had shattered into tiny glass pieces. Some small pieces of glass hit us and some was on the backseat and on the truck bed cover. There were no significant holes of any size or items around the inside or outside of the truck that could have caused the damage. Thankfully we were slowing down while driving otherwise we could have been in a wreck with how loud the sound was! dealership we bought it from refused to acknowledge the issue or even help pay for damage! no warning lights or anything else showed up before or after it happened. We did our reasearch after to find what caused it and now it is obvious based on others reported experiences that it was from the rear defrost being on thanks to the auro start function. We still have not had it fixed since quotes from dealership and 3rd party places without insurance are around $700-$1000. With insurance we would have to pay a $500 deductible and they would cover the rest. We have a powerslide window on the rear windshield to which increases the cost too! we even paid the dealership the extra several hundred dollars for the extended warrenty when we bought the truck and they refuse to cover anything with glass! no resolution yet just trying to get Ford to fix their own defect issues by continuing to contact them.
Rear window glass spontaneously shattered. Sounded like a gunshot when it happened. Defroster was on. There are numerous instances on various Ford forums of this problem having occurred on f150s.
