Manufacturer recall #24e12 (pcm software update) triggered a po430:00-ed code (catalyst system efficiency below threshold - bank 2) because the new software more strictly monitors the catalytic converter, causing it to detect previously ignored degradation. This reprogram scamming program makes community bothered by paying parts replacements more than 2k, even vehicle was fine before the recall. This needs resolved with free fixed and free catalytic replacement. This is not right to announce a recall with unfinished repair issues left. This needs action. Thanks, so mote it be!.
The vehicle’s 10-speed automatic transmission is experiencing severe, erratic, and life-threatening failures at highway speeds. Erratic shifting & sudden downshifts: while traveling at approximately 60 mph, the transmission unexpectedly downshifts from 10th gear directly to 1st gear without warning. This causes violent deceleration and risks immediate rear-wheel lockup. The vehicle also cycles randomly through gears (e. G. , jumping 10-1-7-10-3) and frequently 'locks out' upper gears, making power delivery completely unpredictable. Total loss of motive power: on approximately 3/10/26, while in the high-speed 'fast' lane of the highway, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of motive power. While the engine remained running, the digital gear indicator on the instrument cluster began flashing and the transmission failed to engage any gear. I was left coasting in the flow of traffic and was forced to navigate across multiple lanes to the shoulder without the ability to accelerate. Safety hazard: these combined issues create an extreme risk of high-speed rear-end collisions and loss of vehicle control. The 'flashing' gear indicator and sudden visible on the dash 10-to-1 downshifts suggest a critical electronic, sensor or software failure that makes the vehicle unsafe for highway operation.
My 2018 Ford F-150 experiences harsh, erratic, and unpredictable transmission shifting. The truck frequently hesitates during acceleration, followed by sudden and violent gear engagement. It also makes abrupt downshifts while driving, causing unexpected deceleration that can be dangerous in traffic. The truck will shift from 8th, 9th, or 10th gear down to 1st at highway speeds. This causes abrupt deceleration and significant loss of speed on the highway. On multiple occasions, the transmission has delayed engagement when shifting from a stop, creating hesitation when entering intersections or merging, followed by a sudden surge of power. This creates an unsafe driving condition and increases the risk of rear-end collision or loss of control. The shifting behavior is inconsistent and unpredictable, occurring during both in traffic and highway driving. The problem is worsening over time. Given the frequency and severity of these events, I believe this transmission behavior represents a significant safety defect that should be investigated for potential recall or corrective action.
My truck only has 26000 miles and the transmission started acting very funny, shifting erratically, then it was stuck in 5th gear limp mode. There is some kind of bushing that comes loose in these 10 speed transmissions. It cost me $7597. 48. And $150. 00 towing.
I was driving along and the truck shifted out of gear. Throttled to high rpm’s and went back into gear causing me to temporarily loose control and it repeated itself 2 more times before I got it stopped and towed home.
Hello, we have been experiencing downshifting and slipping of shifting with our Ford F-150 that has 80k miles on it. This has caused us to loose power on the road thus putting us in an unsafe position with other drivers. We have reached out to our local dealership where we purchased the vehicle and found that we need a new transmission. When researching this, we found that there are alot of Ford F-150 owners the same years as ours that have the same situation. We are concerned that this is not a recall. It is obviously a safety issue for drivers and others on the road.
Unknown awkward 10 speed shift problems.
2018 Ford f150 XLT twin turbo 4wd. Since the day I bought it. Nothing but problems with lurching jerking at stops. Clunking when truck is on and off. We have video of it. Pushing gas pedal and truck hesitates before it jumps forward always the transmission been to every Ford dealer in our area they refuse to help or say they dont hear the knocking or feel lurching all lies we have had at least 3 close calls avoiding accidents and 2 days ago the truck would not stop the transmission skipped and I hit a deer. My bull bar absorbed most of the impact. The 10 speed transmission is the issue and no one wants to hear it but Ford wants $10,000 for a new transmission after I paid $48000 for this truck and it’s been in the shop half the time.
Vehicle is shuddering as acceleration starts, took to dealership before warranty ended and they dismissed concerns. Issue has intermittently persisted since then with no resolution available from dealership. The acceleration issues causes the vehicle to slow down and halt before jerking into motion again. Additionally the engine eco boost is occasionally shutting the vehicle off in traffic, if the brake is released too quickly with the boost feature on the engine shuts off, you have to put it back in park and then start the engine again. I've almost been rear ended twice when a light turns green and my engine turns off unexpectedly.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while at a four-way stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the engine revved up, but the vehicle failed to respond. The brake pedal was released, and the vehicle lunged forward, almost causing a crash. The contact stated that the vehicle was jerking while driving at various speeds. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
We were driving on the highway when the truck starting jerking/shuttering and losing power. The wrench light came on, we put on the hazard lights and limped off the nearest exit.
The car has very bad cam phasers that are a manufacturing issue from Ford. This is causing a lot of damage to the engine and also it has put me in very dangerous situations because of the huge decrease in power when I am exiting into a highway or changing lanes. I have spoke to Ford and they did not want to help me especially when they have had multiple recalls for this in the past and even extended recalls. Please help me with this, because it's a big issue and it's a manufacturing problem from Ford.
The button on the steering wheel get hot then fail to work this has happened several times I have complained to Ford. The cruise control quits working and all the buttons for the dash menu quit working. I will be driving down the road with the cruise control on and all of a sudden it will quit working. Then it will just come back on like you never shut it off and when you least expect it. When this happens you can not shut the thing off its gonna cause an accident.
While driving the vehicle it often shifts out of gear. It will hard shift change and not drive, which causes people behind you to have to unexpectedly stop or speed up on you because truck shifts out of gear. Very dangerous situation, and online people often complain about it.
While driving I was coming to a stop approaching a traffic circle. I had to yield the car already in the circle as I was stopping the truck made a clunk and lunged forward while I was breaking forcing me to enter the circle before it was safe to do so. I almost collided with the approaching vehicle with a child in the car. Another instance the vehicle between shifting gears randomly lost power as if it shifted into neutral, then a loud clunk as it finally found the gear when it did the vehicle lunged forward. Another instance with the vehicle in park I started the engine, after the starter finished and the engine turned over there was a loud clunk and the vehicle lunged forward in park enough that the tires made a noise and could have hit a parked car in-front of me. The dealership said it is a known issues with the 10r80 transmission and will cost me $8,000 to $10,000 to repair. This transmission has always clunked and missed gears since I bought it new in 2018 and I have had it looked at multiple times, but the dealerships always said its “normal” Ford knows this is an issues and has not issued a recall and it is very dangerous.
I own a 2018 Ford F-150 with 56,000 miles, and I have been experiencing serious and unpredictable transmission issues. These problems first started around 48,000 miles, but at the time, I assumed it was normal behavior. However, the issues have progressively worsened, and by 55,000 miles, a wrench warning light started appearing intermittently. Symptoms: •while driving at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly drops from 10th gear to 1st gear, causing a sudden and severe deceleration. •the gear shifts are jerky, unpredictable, and rough, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. •the wrench warning light appears occasionally but disappears quickly, making diagnosis difficult. •no diagnostic trouble codes (d dtcs) are stored or retrieved when scanned at multiple repair shops. •the issue happens intermittently, making it challenging to replicate on demand. •started noticing issues at 48k miles, but they became significantly worse around 50k miles when the wrench light began appearing. •I called Ford to reset the radio/computer software, after hearing it might help, but it did not resolve the issue. •the unpredictable transmission behavior causes severe anxiety while driving, as I never know when it will happen again. Attempts to fix: •I have taken my truck to multiple repair shops and Ford dealerships, but since no codes are present, they have been unable to diagnose or fix the issue. •mechanics have checked for transmission recalls or software updates, but no clear solution has been provided. •I contacted Ford for a radio/computer software reset, hoping it might help, but this did not fix the problem. Safety concerns: •the abrupt downshifting poses a serious safety hazard to myself and other drivers on the road, especially at high speeds. •there is an increased risk of accidents due to sudden deceleration and loss of control. •the problem occurs without warning, making it difficult to predict or prevent.
1. The transmission 2. -while driving at highway speeds the vehicle slipped into neutral multiple times, other vehicles have swerved to avoid our sudden slow down. -has lurched forward from stop when foot was removed from brake at intersection with pedestrian present. -stalled completely when auto stop start engaged and impeded cross traffic at night 3. Yes the problem has been reproduced and confirmed multiple times by independent service center. 4. No, the transmission has not been inspected by Ford or anyone else 5. There were no warning lamps, or messages. The only symptom at first was rough shifting. Transmission no longer knows what gear to be in. For example it will move to tenth at 25mph or drop to first gear at 50mph. Adaptive learning computer has been reset multiple times. A warning light started coming on intermittently ("wrench" symbol) after changing fluid. Each time computer has been reset a different code pops up associated with the wrench light coming on.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic light with her foot depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle before it crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front. The contact stated that the vehicle was also slipping out of gear into a lower gear at various speeds, almost causing a crash. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle seized in first gear after coming to a full stop and failed to shift into the higher gears while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark (esp fault) and "see owner's manual" messages were illuminated. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
I on a trip [xxx] round trip is about 332 miles. I had approximately 42 miles to go and the truck speed was reduced and it started to jerk. This is the second trip over two hundred miles and the same thing happened. Have extended warranty insurance but I can’t get any one to accept it here in cleveland, mississippi. I really think this truck is a lemon. I purchased it last year in November and it’s been giving me problems ever since then. I don’t have money to just give away on something that is not worth it. I even went to the dealer where I bought the truck and asked him if I could swap out for another truck and he told me he couldn’t do it. When I checked on car fax it just shows that this truck had 126 ,000miles on it. But at the dealership it showed 149,000miles. So it only showed history for 126,000 and less. I don’t know the history of the 23,000 miles that’s not accounted for. I want my money back or a reliable truck that has no problems with it. This vehicle has the 10r80 10 speed transmission, the same transmission that is in the mustang that is under recall now. That was reset at a Ford dealership in 2023 I believe. It was not acting up at that time, they "fixed" it then while it was in. Now a few years later this problem is very persistant now, constantly missing, skipping, and losing power trying to accelerate trying to get on to busy roads and highways, it loses power and skips through all the gears from 1st to 10th back down to 4, then 6 then 2 then back to 9 and 10. I have almost been hit numerous times from this action. It is also causing the dash lights to turn off and come back on. Also effecting my 4 wheel drive, it will not engage. This should be a saftey recall and Ford needs to take of it.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the transmission was shifted hard. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shifted from tenth gear to first and then back to tenth. The vehicle revved up. The contact stated that the vehicle seemed to be in neutral. The vehicle was suddenly accelerated. The powertrain malfunction warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Three times in the last year while driving north on interstate 91 coming down a long steep hill entering the town of springfield, vermont while my F-150 was in cruise control traveling at 70 mph the transmission has down shifted all by itself to fifth gear without me touching anything. I have not taken it to my local dealer as they want to charge me 135. 00 dollars per hour just to look at it. Also my doors freeze anytime it gets below 32 degrees! can not latch doors shut once they freeze.
2018 Ford f150 2. 7 with 133,000 miles. Not shifting properly and jerking into gears. Shifted down into first from 10th while traveling down the interstate. Stalled in the middle of the road while making a turn from a stop sign and then jerked I to gear and started driving again. Went to the dealership back in may where I bought it from and they advised me that it’s the transmission and this is a known problem with all 2018 f150 transmissions. Advised me the only fix was to replace it. Now in November it has gotten worse and when I try to get above 70 mph quickly (passing a vehicle on the interstate), it starts jerking hard repeatedly. Also, it automatically will kick my cruise control off while going down the highway. Controls in the steering wheel stop working properly.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated at excessive speeds. The contact aggressively depressed the brake pedal and shifted into neutral to decelerate and slow the vehicle to a stop. The failure was intermittent and occurred at various speeds. The contact’s son inspected the vehicle and determined that a fuse related to the cruise control might be defective. The contact’s son had replaced the fuses. While driving approximately 10 mph and coming to a stop sign, the contact decided to come closer to the stop sign however, the vehicle accelerated past the stop sign. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal several times however, the vehicle failed to stop until approximately a block away from the stop sign. There was a certified mechanic nearby who inspected the vehicle but found no cause for the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the cruise control fuse had failed. The dealer replaced the fuse. The contact was uncomfortable with the fuse being in the vehicle, so the dealer removed the fuse to deactivate the cruise control. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rumbling sound detected. The vehicle was slow to accelerate, then lunged forward. While accelerating, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be overhauled. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact to upgrade the fuel. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
To whom it may concern, as a proud owner of a 2018 Ford F-150 with the 5. 0 v8 and 10-speed transmission, I have recently been facing significant shifting issues with my truck. These issues occur at various times during my ride, making my daily commute a stressful experience. The transmission shifting slams into gear and downshifts from 8 or 9 to first gear, disrupting the smooth operation of my vehicle. Despite consulting multiple mechanics, I’m still unsure whether it's a computer issue or if the transmission needs to be replaced. I checked the nthsa and learned that this vehicle had a recall for this issue. I trust in Ford's commitment to quality and safety. I need to know how I can get a remedy for this inconvenience. I don’t feel it's my responsibility to spend upwards of $8k for a new transmission when Ford has a recall on this truck. Please advise on the necessary steps as soon as possible. This issue is causing me significant inconvenience. I don't feel safe, and I would appreciate your help in this manner.
Transmission shifting hard, jerking and causing the engine to lose power causing road safety hazards fr e and others.
Transmission, on 5 year f150 truck slips, and sometimes wont go in revers, huge safety issue. This issue almost caused an accident a few time in one week. We took truck to dealership. They did concur it is not drivable if not fixed this is a huge safety issue for all 2018 f150 trucks. We never received any recall info on truck if there were any. Imagine a vehicle you cant go in reverse , or transmission stops as you pull into an intersection. Luckily for us our family was not involved in an accident. A 5 year old vehicle's transmission should not fail on any manufacture. . According to several 2018 f150 owners this is an issue. Someone will die in a accident if this is not addressed.
Vehicle transmission is shifting hard and often time slipping. Causing us to lose power until it finally gets into gear. It's nearly caused us accidents due to the sudden loss of power. It is available for inspection. We live in an area with high traffic tourist volume and has caused us multiple near accidents. It has been checked by a mechanic. The code thrown every time was p0732. The code was thrown the first time it did it 2 weeks ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the cruise control was engaged, the vehicle accelerated to 100 mph. The vehicle skipped gears while accelerating from a stop. The vehicle stalled and restarted. The brake pedal was applied without application. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
When I first start driving the transmission does not seem to know what gear it should be in. It will start in first, jump to four and even at a stop with remain in fourth. As I start to move it will drop back to first and then jump to eighth. It will bounce between gears like this for the first half a mile or so then seems to settle back down. When it is jumping around gears the shifting is extremely hard and causes the truck to lunge, shaking the passengers and driver. I have started to notice over the last couple weeks it is getting worse and lasting longer into the day.
Power train light came on a busy highway, transmission disengage from engine ,vehicle stops in the middle of traffic. Towed truck to the dealership on the on the 08/21/23. Reset pcm and tcm module. On the 09/07/23 same problem vehicle stop in traffic. Truck would not move in drive or reverse when engine running ,towed to the dealership today .
Been having this issue for months. Go to hit the gas to go from a stop truck shutters and hastates to move. No check engine light has come on. Thought it was the fuel we put in it but no matter what fuel it still does it. Almost have been hit a dozen times with my children in the truck with me due to truck will not accelerate and shutters when you go to take off from a stop. Even when putting the vehicle into sports mode and hit the gas, the truck hesitates and shutters as well. Been to repair shops and they stated they can't find anything wrong with it due to no check engine light being on.
How is there not a recall yet? I'm still making payments on my 2018 Ford F-150 which I purchased in 2020. The first problem I experienced happened when accelerating to pass a slower moving vehicle (into oncoming traffic). Instead, my truck slowed substantially (70 mph down to 40 mph) preventing me and all the other drivers behind me from passing. Fortunately, there wasn't a vehicle traveling in the opposite lane. . . Although, I'm not sure a head on collision would've resulted in a recall! I was told that the ecoboost was the reason. . . That term is deceiving to say the least. This may/ may not have led to the bigger problem, my transmission. It's obvious Ford's 10 speed automatic transmission is far less than good. However, there is a safety risk when the gears change on their own, while driving, with children! aside from the bang or jolt from the gears switching while in motion, it's frightening when the gear changes from 7th to 2nd on the freeway and the rpms rev very high, or when the gear starts in 7th from a stop sign. . . It takes a while to accelerate nonetheless! shame on you Ford for not issuing a recall sooner! very fortunate that this hasn't resulted in a major collision with fatalities. . . Or perhaps there has been and there weren't any survivors to report it! I am not happy and will continue to update my complaint as I work my tail off to make money for a new transmission. Goodbye. . . Until my next break.
Wrench indicator warning light led to diagnosis that transmission replacement is needed. Verified (twice) by Ford service department and reputable Ford mechanic. Defective 10 speed automatic transmission: shift solenoids cause gears to shift up and down erratically, occasionally shifting with a jolt or bang.
