The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake line fractured, and the brakes failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the brake line had fractured, and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

2 Air Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a fractured passenger’s side brake line. The contact was informed that the brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, a year later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver’s and passenger’s side brake lines were fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.
