Driver seat back sometimes falls back into rear seat area causing driver to loose steering control while driving. I have remedied this by holding steering wheel firmly at all times. The truck is just 2 years old but mileage exceeds warranty coverage. I have drove exclusively from new to now at 40,000 miles and my weight is 227lbs and 6 foot tall. The seat back fails at random times. Parking lot or 70mph interstate road. The seat belt which works properly will compound problem by holding you from pulling back up to steering / driving position if you apply brakes at instant of seat falling back! at about 20,000 miles I felt and did hear a spring break in lower cushion seat. I purchased a cushion at that time to remedy that weak seat problem. This is the XLT model very disappointed in quality of 39,000 dollar truck that now has safety issue from cheap seat back failure.

Had a fire start in the rear seat area while the truck was warming up in the remote start mode . The remote start was factory installed by Ford . The truck was declared a total loss.
June 21, 2018 we were driving down hwy 1 bypass in forrest city, ar and were hit on the driver's side, passenger door and gas tank area. The truck took the impact well and we spun 180 degrees to the opposite side of the road. The side and curtain airbags deployed and my two small children in the back seat were unharmed, including the one whose door took most of the impact. My hip was injured from the air bag that deployed from the back of my seat. As I was sitting in the seat immediately following the accident calling 911, the seat began smoking. I tried to exit out of the driver's side door and it was jammed. Smoke continued to get thicker and smelled like an electrical/plastic burning smell. I then had to crawl over the center console and exit through the front passenger door. At that point, thick black smoke was coming from my seat and the left side of the cab began to burn. The actual impact damage to my vehicle would not have totaled it out, but the fire, smoke, and water damage from the fire being put out, did. I have also filed a case with Ford motor company, as I believe this was a mechanical/electrical defect in the vehicle. Had we not been able to exit the vehicle, my entire family would have died from this fire, not the impact of the accident. From observations from the police, fire department, wrecker service, and my husband who is a mechanic, they believe that the fire was ignited when the air bags deployed. I did have heated seats, and the vehicle was clearly on when I was hit and the air bags deployed.
Ford F-150 2014 had an electrical issue that caused it to go up in flames as I was driving it down the highway at about 60 miles an hour. I first smelled a burning odor, then I looked in my review mirror and saw smoke, then I started seeing flames in the back passenger corner of my back seats. By this time the truck was very smoky but I was able to safely pull aside to the shoulder of the highway. I made an attempt to open my driver's door, but it wouldn't open and I then broke the glass to open the door from inside out. As I exited my vehicle and walked around the back of the truck I grabbed a towel out the bed of the truck and got on the ground to try and stop the flames at that time I could see a wire burning between the bed and the passenger cab of the truck as it made loud popping noises, then the truck just burst into flames. I called 911 and they called the fire department , they came out on the scene and put the fire out.

Extend cab with 4 doors. Where the rear seat and seat belts mount to the body it is completely rusted away. The seat and seat belt is loose and will not be secured in a crash. Very little rust on the rest of the cab and the rocker panels are intact. However the seat belts for the rear passengers on both the right and left side are not connected.

When the ac control for the front seats is in use the back of the seats can reach temperatures of 110 degrees when the temperature in the cab is 73 degrees. This temperature could burn my children who ride in the back seats or even cause damage to the seat or risk of fire. I have seen multiple accounts of this on the web and from other owners of 2015 Ford f150 with this option.

Air cooled bucket seatbacks do not cool but instead dangerously overheat. Problem is particularly bad in rear seatback pockets when cooling function is activated. Infrared temperature measurements have been documented in you tube videos.
The f150 has climate controlled seat that all the occupants in the front two seats are able to use to heat or cool the seating surface. On my model the seat back of the system is not functioning properly in the cooling mode. After as little as 10 min of use the seat back goes from ambient temperature to uncomfortably warm. When reaching behind the seat and placing a hand on the back of the seat back there is a very hot section where the thermal electronic device is located. This is a safety hazard for anyone reaching into the map pocket or any adult or child who touches the back of the seat. While researching this issue online there have been owners who have used thermal imaging and temperature detection devices who have measured temperature from 115-130 degrees on the back seat. Some even complain they have measured 150 degress. At that temperature a child could easily suffer severe burns to ther person. I do not have a device to measure temperature to get the exact number but it is uncomfortable to leave my hand on the area of the seat where the ted is located for any length of time.
Front seat cooling system, back of both the driver and passenger seats, is not working. When cooling is selected the back seat does not cool rather after 10-15 mins. It warms up. I have read the temp. With a gun and found it to be between 115 and 150 degrees at the back of the seat right above the map pocket at a ambient temp. Of 75 degrees. My dealers answer to the issue was Ford states its working as designed. I am not using the cooling function with anything in the back for fear or how hot it gets and a fire. Ford has not given a fix for the problem. I am one of many. It is in many forums about this issue.
The air-conditioned "cooled" leather seats in my F-150 do not work properly. The seat bottoms do cool, but the seat backs, which should also cool, do not. There is a negligible amount of cool air that comes out, but eventually it stops cooling, and gets hot. The back of the front seats (in the area in and above the magazine pocket) does get hot. So hot I would be concerned if a child were to be seated in the back seats, and reached into the magazine pocket to retrieve a book. I imagine if I put a large 'map book' in the magazine pocket, it would completely restrict the exhaust airflow from the ted (device that's supposed to provide cool air to the front seat passenger). Ford customer service and the dealerships haven't been much help on this. There is supposedly a TSB in the works, and new parts to help get cool air to the ted, and properly exhaust the hot air, but any such fix has been far too slow in coming. In the meantime, I feel this is a safety hazard, in addition to the complaint that my cooled seats don't cool!.
Passenger airbag wire harness too short. When back of seat was moved forward wires broke. Ford dealer tried to say it was operator error, but infact there was no slack on wires to move with seat.
Front seat back cooling system (ted) is malfunctioning. When seat cooling is selected, after 30 minuets, the back of the front seats reach extreme temperatures. I'm afraid it will end up burning a back seat passenger, or damaging the vehicle. . Read more...
Issues began on Friday morning. Had a warning on dash indicating left rear door ajar, when in fact the door was closed. Took to dealer who said it was probably a bad sensor and for $400 they could fix it. Faulty warning will not let auto locks engage or alarm to set as it is reading the door as open. Huge safety concern if you are travelling with a child, the doors will not lock and you happen to get into an accident. Possible ejection of passengers. Then came out to the truck on Friday afternoon and noticed the rear seats were wet. Unable to find out why. Further investigation today reveals that the headliner is damaged from water damage. Reading several places online, it appears that the F-150 has a bad leaking problem from the 3rd brake light on the rear of the cab. This will now have to be fixed and replaced and the truck is hardly 3 years old. Disappointed in the quality "Ford built" products.

While driving my seat recliner bolts broke from the seat frame causing the seat to recline all the way to the back seat in my extended cab. I was able to not lose control of my truck thankfully however I have it temporarily fixed with a bolt stuck through it to keep it from reclining. Upon calling Ford they told me that even though I found a recall for this issue; it however did not affect my VIN #. I believe this is a safety issue and should be addressed. Upon speaking with Ford directly for replacement parts to fix it, I was told the parts/bolts only come in a big quantity pack and would be almost $200 but I would only need one or two bolts to fix it. This is ridiculous and should be handled by the dealer free of charge and included as a recall due to the safety hazard this could have posed to myself and other citizens driving!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2001 Ford f150. The contact stated that the vehicle was not equipped with brackets in the rear seats to be able to secure the car seat. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. Failure and the current mileage was 140,000. Li.

While my truck was parked in my driveway, we had a very bad tropical storm come through, when I went to get in my truck I noticed that my back seat was wet and the back of my head lining was wet and had water spots on it. So I took my truck to the dealer thinking my rear window was leaking, but they told me that it was my third brake light and the seal around it was bad. So instead of it being covered under the trucks warranty they told me I would have to pay to get it fixed plus pay for my seats to be cleaned from the water damage. Because it is still raining I did not have no choice, but I think that if Ford have had all these complaints about the same problems happening to other vehicles, they should have a recall and be responsible for paying for the repairs and water damage caused by their manufacturing defect. We pay to much money for these vehicles to have to put with a company that knows they have a problem and want do nothing to fix it, but makes the customer suffers and pays the price for their neglect.

This started about spring of 2011. My truck had about 26,000 miles on it. I was driving in the rain when I heard a trickle of water in the back seat. I looked back and saw nothing. Later when I got to work I checked to see if I could find out what the trickle noise was. It turned out that the roof was leaking. In the back two corners of the cab water was coming in. Apparently, a hard rain causes the water to pool on the roof. The rubber gasket on the roof has apparently become brittle and is letting water in. I looked online for similar complaints and saw others, including leaks from the satellite antenna and the center brake light. Please help. My truck gets wet every time it rains and the wet, musty odor that follows is disgusting. I have also heard that Ford considers this a cosmetic issue much like door dings and scratches. Not fair!!!.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. While driving 35 mph, the contact rear ended the vehicle ahead of her, which caused a minor pile up. The passenger's head went through the rear glass. Both the contact and passenger were transported to the hospital by ambulance. A police report was filed. The body of the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the rear seats were defective because they did not protect the occupant's heads. The current mileage was 79,000 and failure mileage was 68,000.
: the contact stated while attempting to install a child safety seat in the vehicle, it was noticed that the rear driver side upper seatbelt bolt was not torqued all the way in. The contact expressed that the bolt looked like it was hand turned 3 resolutions. There was a plastic cover that covered the bolt head and usually sat flush against the vehicle's structure. In this situation, the threads were visible, and the cover did not sit flush with the body. The vehicle was a rental, and the contact expressed that there may be other vehicles with the same problem. The manufacturer was going to be contacted after filing a complaint with the NHTSA.

I own a 2001 Ford f150 lariet off road pick up truck with a supercab. The rear seats in the truck do not have any headrests. My seven year old daughter constantly hits her head on the rear window because there is no headrest. I am very concerned about what could happen to her if my vehicle was struck from the rear with her in that seat. I can't allow her to sit in the front seat as of yet and can't find any headrest alternatives to correct the problem. I believe that this was a poor design by Ford and I think they know it too since all of the newer models have rear headrests. I never even thought about it until after I purchased the truck. I just thought you should be aware of the problem and wondered if you had any similar complaints. Thanks!.
