My vehicle would not exit out of a drive or moving until I stopped the vehicle and disconnected the neg battery cable. The vehicle stayed in a state of high rpms. There were no warning signs and no warnings displayed on the truck display. This is the second "speeding out of control" situation in two days. I fear for the safety of myself, my family, and everyone around me. I don't know what triggers the onset of this condition. I exited from state highway 5 onto exit 104 (hwy 101) and took a left on mud bay road. I was traveling 30-35 mph when I began to slow down to almost a complete stop to make the right turn into the swimming facility. My truck would not slow down. I pushed he brakes very hard to prevent the truck from speeding uncontrollably. I pulled in to a parking spot as best as I could. The truck rpms were maxed. I own an automatic drive. With my foot on the brake, I shifted from d to n. There was a loud sound of gears during the shift. The truck rpms were still maxed out. I turned off the truck and placed the truck in p. I also enabled the parking brake. I started the truck and the truck rpms were still maxed out. I kept the truck running for an additional 30 seconds. My wife and bystanders indicated that there was a burning smell emanating from the truck. I turned off the truck and the truck displayed an "overheating" warning. I allowed the truck to cool down and disconnected the neg battery cable for 15 min. After I reconnected the neg cable, the truck reset to normal running conditions. I have owned the truck for three months and the truck is still under factory warranty. The dealership that I bought it from does not acknowledge that 2020 F-150s have had problems with the transmission/engine. I will take my truck there tomorrow (13may2021) for them to view the error codes.

This issue has now happened 6 times without showing a pattern. While driving the vehicle completely loses all throttle power and the message center displays service advancetrac hill start assist disabled and the abs and service engine lights illuminate. This has happened on back roads at slower speeds and on highways at 70 mph. Again, all throttle power is lost. This issue has been reported on numerous forums and there have been 2 consensus fixes, replace throttle body and an apparent issue with the tightness of a throttle cable.

The vehicle did not shift to the appropriate gear and acted erratically. The rpms might spike but the truck did not accelerate. Other times the rpms dropped to zero even when I depressed the gas pedal. After first replacing the spark plugs, the dealership replaced the lead frame for a total out of pocket cost of approximately $1,100. I was lucky that the problem manifested itself at lower speeds in town. This could easily have been a serious safety problem under other conditions such as towing a camper/trailer or at high speeds. I see there was a lead frame recall on the 2012 f150s. It seems appropriate that this recall would also be applicable to the 2013s. Https://media. Ford. Transmission shift cable outer sheath was melted on exhaust system. Cable had unknowingly come loose of a retaining clip and was then allowed to contact hot exhaust manifold. Melted the outer plastic of shift cable causing the shift selector to become inoperable. Shift selector could be placed in park but transmission would not be in park; if I had not realized there was a problem I could have believed the transmission was in park when it was not and the truck could have rolled freely. Truck is a well maintained 2006 Ford f150 crew cab 4x4 with the column shifter.

: the contact stated while attempting to apply pressure to the brakes, the vehicle idled loudly and there was an increase in stopping distance. This occurred at various speeds on normal roads during normal braking without warning. The dealership replaced the retaining clip due to a recall NHTSA # 98v192000 concerning the vehicle speed control cables, however the problem still exists. The manufacturer has been alerted.

: the contact stated prior to having the recall work performed, the accelerator pedal stuck. The recall for the cruise control was performed, but the problem with the accelerator pedal remained. This happened at any speed, without the cruise control activated. The vehicle has not been to a mechanic, but the contact determined the throttle cable is sticking.
I was coming home from work when the gas pedal was really stiff so I stepped down harder and the gas stuck wide open. I had to use my brakes until I could get it to slow down as I was at the top of a large hill. I tried putting it into netral but the rpms went to 6. I just about burnt my brand new brakes up. I slowed it down as much as I could and then put it into neutral and shut it off immediately. My husband then opened the hood and noticed the cable was stuck and wrapped up in the assembly. Once loose the accelerator returned to normal. It was absolutely terrifying as I nearly wrecked the truck going down the hill with the brake pedal pushed to the floor and my anti-lock brakes clicking the whole time.
When it was below freezing vehicle revved up to 6000 rpm. Vehicle had been to the dealer three times. Dealer changed the throttle body, idle control valve, and the throttle cable. Dealer also disconnected the cruise control and consumer hasn't experienced surging on the vehicle.

I started to pass a pickup in front of me. As I got along side I noticed I was already up to 70 mph. I stepped on the brake and pushed the coast and off buttons for the cruise. I let off the brake slightly and was now up to 90 mph. I pushed the brakes hard and turned the key off, coasting to the shoulder. When I turned it back on it went to full throttle instantly. I disconnected the cable for the cruise and turned it on. The engine idled and the cruise cable pulled all the way in. The next day I checked the cruise cable and it was not pulled in with the engine running. I was lucky there were no cars on the highway in front of me when it happened. In the last week the Ford dealer has done nothing.

Approximately 6:45 p. M. Est on June 14, 2001 I was traveling at 58 mph when I deployed the cruise control. I proceeded for about 4 miles when I went to disengage the cruise control. I applied the brakes but it would not disengage. I shut off the cruise control switch and it still would not come out of cruise control. After riding the brakes for a couple of miles I managed to get off an exit off of route 1 in chester county, PA. , pulled the truck over to the shoulder and, put it in neutral and quickly turned off the ignition. Much smoke came out from under the hood because the brakes were overheated. I pulled the fuse and restared the vehicle. It rev'd to "red" line". I quickly turned off the ignition. Had truck towed to faulkner Ford in chadds Ford, PA. They found the cruise control cable pressed against the throttle. I asked if there was a recall on this. The response was "no, it was a fluke. It happened to be you. " I am lucky to be alive after this harrowing experience. I am not pleased with how this dealership handled this incident.

Vehicle suddenly accelerates. Vehicle has been at dealership four times . Dealer has replaced the accelerator cable. Also replaced twice cruise control.
