2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

While overtaking another vehicle on a 2-lane highway, the accelerator pedal broke and would not allow me to accelerate. Shortly after this, the vehicle I overtook had caught up, and I was forced to move back behind them in heavy traffic as there was also oncoming traffic. With no accelerator, I had to pull off to the side of the highway. Losing acceleration is a serious hazard, impacting the ability to safely control the vehicle and react to situations. This was a sudden failure with no warnings. Nobody has seen the vehicle yet. I found a way to manipulate the acceleration system/assembly in a way that would allow me to get away from the busy highways. This involved me holding part of the assembly with one hand while pushing on the pedal with the other hand. I figured it was better to find a safer place to park the vehicle. Upon further inspection, it appears that a plastic part broke somewhere. I do not think that plastic should be used in heavy use and safety critical systems. Everything is available for inspection as of now if needed.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

Hard downshifts from 5 to 4. At low speeds, like parking lots it shifts hard from 1 to 2. At freeway speeds while attempting to pass instead of dropping a gear to passs it downshifts to 1st, rpm’s shoot up and it results in having to pull off stop and place in park. Once in park back to d and able to take off. At any speed from 30 mph or more there is a sort of “tap of brakes” feeling every . 15 of a mile.

While driving down the road, the driver gauge display screen completely goes dark. All information displayed normally on the screen, such as speed, mileage, and vital information about the vehicle stops, displaying entirely. This has happened multiple times. Usually the next day, the issue is solved. Then, several months later, the issue reappears. Whenever the vehicle is taken for repair, the dealer simply cannot replicate the issue. This is a known issue that has been reported online by many people.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

The speed sensor in transmission isn't working properly it shift down to 1st gear as shown in these recalls 19s07,19s19,and 24s37. Im not sure if it is related to 19n01 in any way but the problem was that its showing on my VIN that they conducted a recall 19s07 on my 2012 F-150 in the past but then after that there was a 19s19 recalled added because the prior 19s07 didn't work properly or hold up ,so what that meant was they should have made it aware to all vehicles that was performed with this reprogramming recall but they did not send any notification or make available to my f150 especially knowing the reprograming didn't hold up, so I was never granted access or authorization and notified that it need to be re done . Also the problem I noticed says its with the software in 19s19 and 19s07 but this seems more like a speed sensor problem that's indicated in 24s37 and that seems to be a hardware issue ,if u look into this issue on line you'll notice the fix for this issue is for the sensor to be replaced in the transmission . I feel that Ford should be responsible for the issue with my f150 .

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/29/2025

Vehicle information: 2014 Ford F-150 VIN [xxx] transmission: 6r80 description of the problem: my 2014 Ford F-150 has a dangerous transmission issue. It suddenly downshifts from higher gears (like 4th or 5th) into 1st gear while driving, without warning. This creates a serious risk of loss of control or rear-end collision. Ford performed the recall for the 6r80 pcm reprogramming, but the issue persists. The problem was not resolved, and the vehicle still downshifts abruptly. My vehicle has over 200,000 miles, so the extended warranty for the lead frame (program 19n01) no longer applies, but this is a serious safety defect that continues after the recall. I’m requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as it seems the recall fix is not effective in all cases. Many other owners report similar symptoms even after the recall. Safety concern: I feel unsafe driving this vehicle. The transmission can cause a sudden deceleration in traffic, and I fear it may lead to an accident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

Driving interstate and a wrench warning came up on dash screen. I knew that wasn’t good. Two local mechanics diagnosed as circuit a (transmission) needs replaced. Park light not illuminating and won’t even crank to start. I got it started , finally, and wrench came back on. Loud “thunk” noise when switching into reverse was advised not to drive until repaired as it is dangerous to me and others recall was issued for 10 pin and needs to recalled for 6 pin ASAP Ford is welcome. To check it out anytime as I just have it setting waiting on recall. I need a truck, please issue recall.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

While driving at highway speeds, about 55mph, transmission just jerked. Happened multiple times until I could get it in to be serviced. Service light comes on, speedometer goes to zero, safety lights come on and its not able to downshift. I fear this could be a very dangerous especially at this speeds. . After stopping and turning of the road it still would not reset. It would not reset until I parked the vehicle and shutdown then restarted. Picture attached shows the dash. . . . . While going 55 speedometer went to zero. Was in 5 gear and would not change, mileage went to "--------" engine light and airbag lights come on. . . . . . Nhtsa site shows no recalls but Ford does show their own recall. Ford will not cover this repair because they said they notified of a recall but nothing was ever sent to me or told to me in any previous trips to dealership. This is a known safety risk and Ford should still be pushing to get these parts replaced. Fords campaign after to search online. 19n01 description transmission molded leadframe.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

2018 Ford f150 XLT twin turbo 4wd. Since the day I bought it. Nothing but problems with lurching jerking at stops. Clunking when truck is on and off. We have video of it. Pushing gas pedal and truck hesitates before it jumps forward always the transmission been to every Ford dealer in our area they refuse to help or say they dont hear the knocking or feel lurching all lies we have had at least 3 close calls avoiding accidents and 2 days ago the truck would not stop the transmission skipped and I hit a deer. My bull bar absorbed most of the impact. The 10 speed transmission is the issue and no one wants to hear it but Ford wants $10,000 for a new transmission after I paid $48000 for this truck and it’s been in the shop half the time.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

On [xxx] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [xxx] just north of twin falls idaho I had cruise control set to 81 mph when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a Ford dealer and it was the cdf drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

I was turning left from a side street onto a divided highway and stopped in the middle to wait for an opening in traffic. When one came I hit the gas and nothing happened. Pressed it again, to the floor and nothing happened. I then put the truck into reverse to back out of the way of traffic because the truck rolled forward a bit when I attempted to accelerate. I then waited for a very large opening and attempted to accelerate again. Pushed the pedal and again nothing. I then pressed it to the floor and held it there. The truck very slowly began to accelerate and then after about 20 seconds accelerated like normal. The truck seemed normal the rest of the way home.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/05/2025

On [xxx] at [xxx] I dropped my wife and 2 children off at the funland arcade in deep creek, maryland. The parking lot was full from the holiday weekend and I was planning on taking the lightning to a nearby charger while the family gamed so I double parked perpendicular to the arcade entrance, put the hazards on, and let them out. After the 3 of them got out, I placed the lightning in reverse to back up 5-10 feet so that I could exit the parking lot through the same way I came in. Once I had enough space from reversing so I could make the turn to exit I placed the lighting in drive. The moment the lightning switched to drive it accelerated at a very high speed as if I was flooring the gas pedal, which I was not. The lightning was in one-petal mode which I always use unless I’m on a highway. I immediately began pumping the brakes but the truck would not stop, I probably slammed on the brake petal 4-5 times to no avail. I even tried shifting the truck back into park but it would not shift out of drive. I was able to luckily steer the truck into a hillside approximately 150 feet away. The truck ran over numerous small trees and shrubs before crashing to a stop approximately 16 feet up the hill. Shortly after the shock wore off, I slowly reversed the truck down the hill, exited the truck, and informed dozens of onlookers who came out of the arcade to see what the noise in the parking lot was from, that the truck just took off on its own but that I was fine. I called 911 and the police came. Luckily no people or vehicles were between the arcade entrance and the hillside or the outcome would have been significantly worse. This crash was witnessed first hand by wife and 2 children. I have grave safety concerns about this truck now and will not put my family or self back in it until Ford fixes this problem. I am making this complaint in case this information can help prevent future crashes of this vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/04/2025

Vehicle is shuddering as acceleration starts, took to dealership before warranty ended and they dismissed concerns. Issue has intermittently persisted since then with no resolution available from dealership. The acceleration issues causes the vehicle to slow down and halt before jerking into motion again. Additionally the engine eco boost is occasionally shutting the vehicle off in traffic, if the brake is released too quickly with the boost feature on the engine shuts off, you have to put it back in park and then start the engine again. I've almost been rear ended twice when a light turns green and my engine turns off unexpectedly.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/29/2025

While driving multiple issues presented themselves. First was a drivers screen warning light. It said drivetrain malfunction-power reduced. I was on a 1000-mile road trip and wisas well into the trip. I kept driving without any operating issues with the exception of having steering wheel button controls malfunctions also. They included cruise control cancel button not working. The slow down button actually speeding up. This issue was actually repaired previously and now it is presenting itself again. Very unsafe when buttons work in reverse or don't work as intended. The drivetrain malfunction disappeared for the next few days but came back. There have been other wiring splicing repairs made at the dealer and these could be related. The wires were spliced because a wiring harness could not be obtained as it was backordered. Vehicle is just out of warranty and only has 23k miles. Critical wiring has corroded already.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/28/2025

Truck rapidly shifted from fifth to third gear, causing the truck to jolt and lock the rear tires. This has occurred at least three times since a recall was performed on the truck’s computer several months ago. After it happened today, the truck produced the following codes: p0720 and u0102. This could be detrimental when driving at high speeds on the highway. Truck can be inspected if requested. A local Ford dealer has been informed about the issue and stated that the recall would not have caused it. No inspections have been performed due to the inconsistent occurrence of this issue.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

I own a 2019 Ford F-150 with only 94,000 miles on it—barely approaching 100,000—and I’m already experiencing significant transmission issues. The vehicle is equipped with the 10r80 transmission, and the way it shifts gears is extremely concerning. It’s unreasonable for such a critical component to show this level of failure so early. At this rate, it feels as though I’d need to replace the transmission every 94,000 miles, which is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about long-term reliability.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/17/2025

My gear shifter was sticking, making hard to shift gears. I had to pay $1100. 00 dollars to get it fixed. The truck has only 37,000 miles. This seems like a defect not a random component gone bad.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/15/2025

While traveling at highway speeds, my truck will downshift from 6th gear to first gear. On occasion, the heads up display will randomly flash between different driving modes (reverse, m, neutral) as if it is resetting. This also happens at medium speeds (20-30 mph).

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/14/2025

Today, [xxx] while driving at highway speed this vehicle experienced a unrequested transmission downshift, from 6th to 3rd, causing unexpected rapid vehicle deceleration. I was located in the center lane of an interstate and travelling at 70 mph when this incident happen which force the traffic behind me to take rapid accident avoidance actions. I did not hear any audible or see any visual warnings that this incident was about to happen. This vehicle will be taken to starling Ford located at 3000 cheney hwy, titusville, FL 32780 on June 16, 2025. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

My 2013 has the same transmission problem of an unexpected downshift to 1st gear while driving at highway speeds as the newer model year f150’s. I would like to see all f150’s with that model transmission (6r80) included into the recall. I believe this would include 2011 through 2018 model years.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/06/2025

Vehicle transmission will instantly drop to gears 3 to 5 (limp mode from what I have researched) & wrench light comes on. Very dangerous on the interstate traveling at 70mph+, seems to happen more frequently on hotter days. You can park & turn off vehicle, then crank back up, & it is out of limp mode but transmission is sluggish. Initially it was happening once per week on avg, now it is a toss up on each drive I do whether it goes into limp mode or not.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

F150 downshifted into first gear while driving down the highway at full speed. Speedometer stopped registering. Sudden and abrupt deceleration. Engine warning light on. Took the truck to the local Ford dealer, malloy Ford charlottesville, va and service department said the molded leadframe needed to be replaced per customer satifaction program (csp) 19n01, but Ford would not cover the cost. I believe that Ford needs to cover the cost. I never received a letter notification from Ford and had it in service at the same dealer in August 2022 and they did not notify me of the outstanding csp and need to service per 19n01.
