1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/23/2026

Hello, I recently brought my 2014 Ford F-150 (VIN: [xxx]) to the dealership regarding recall 24s37. The vehicle experienced the following symptoms: • check engine light illuminated. • wrench light illuminated. • intermittent loss of power. • abnormal transmission behavior. • intermittent no-start condition. • vehicle would only start after moving the gear selector. The dealership informed me that no physical repairs would be performed because the diagnostic trouble codes retrieved were different from those associated with recall 24s37. However, the vehicle continues to exhibit transmission-related symptoms, and I am concerned that the underlying condition may be related to or aggravated by the conditions addressed in recall 24s37. I am requesting that Ford review this case and determine whether additional diagnostic evaluation or repairs should be considered. However, they refuse to accept that the codes have anything to do with the recall, even though it is the same part and the affected sensor that is triggering the error codes on the scanner. They are asking me to pay for the transmission repair because the codes are not the ones approved for the recall, but based on the signs and symptoms the truck is showing, it is a chain reaction that triggered the previously mentioned failures. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/14/2026

The speedometer on my vehicle recently indicated a speed 10-15 mph lower than the actual highway speed. Approximately one week later, while operating the vehicle with cruise control set at 58 mph and descending a decline, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from sixth to first gear. This abrupt shift resulted in a violent jolt to the rear of the vehicle, nearly causing a loss of control. Upon contacting Ford regarding this issue, I was informed that they are aware of the problem and that an extended warranty campaign is in place for the transmission lead wire frame and vehicle speed sensor. Ford offered to repair this free of charge, with the caveat that the campaign covers vehicles up to 150,000 miles, originating from 36,000 miles. According to various owner groups and online forums, this issue is prevalent in 2013 F-150 pickups equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, often manifesting well after the 150,000-mile mark, as was the case with my vehicle. While Ford acknowledges this known problem and its potential consequences, the warranty repair cutoff at 150,000 miles could lead to catastrophic outcomes, as demonstrated by my near-loss of control incident. It is important to note that the same transmission and speed sensors have already been recalled in 2014 models, which share an essentially identical powertrain, yet the 2013 models are not included in this recall. This presents a significant safety concern, as the manufacturer is aware of the issue, but their current campaign does not adequately cover the mileage at which many of these problems are emerging.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/09/2026

The truck has sporadically gone into “limp” mode for 6+ years. In the last 4 weeks it has happened a total of 6 times while driving. On Tuesday 6/9/2026 it happened while leaving a driveway. I was able to disconnect the battery and let the throttle body reset. I reconnected the battery, it started and drove without problems. I connected a loaded horse trailer, drove approximately 12 miles and it happened again, this time on a two lane road with a soft , uneven shoulder going from 60 miles per hour to 8 miles per hour very quickly. I was able to turn on my hazard lights and pull onto the grass, but only about 5 inches off the 60 mph road. In order to reset the throttle body, I disconnected the battery again, disabling the hazard lights while vehicles passed by narrowly colliding with us several times. The check engine light was illuminated, but I was not in a safe place to scan the truck. It usually disappears after resetting the throttle body, but did not this time. After 10 minutes, I heard the throttle body click, it started up and I drove another 15 miles when it happened again. This time at a temporary stoplight with no shoulder. I was able to scan the computer and the p2111 code was displayed. I reset the throttle body again, drove 5 miles and it happened again. I was able to navigate to a safer area, reset the throttle body again and drive less than two miles home. On 6/11, after letting the truck sit for two days, I started it with no issue to move the trailer and it happened again. I tried resetting the throttle body again and if did not work. The p2111 code is still showing and the throttle body will not reset. The truck is currently inoperable. It will only idle, roughly, and pressing the accelerator pedal had no effect on the truck.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/08/2026

I am having a lead frame issue. At various speeds, the vehicle will just down shift, locking the tires and causing a hazard for other drivers which could be a very dangerous situation. I was impacted from the rear due to this occurrence. It causes extreme jerkiness when doing this which is also injurious to my back and neck and shoulders.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/04/2026

My 2019 F-150 has only 25,000 miles. The dealership has confirmed transmission failure requiring a $9,000 replacement. A transmission is expected to last significantly longer than 25,000 miles. I have maintained the vehicle. This is an extraordinary premature failure on a critical part of the vehicle and it poses a massive safety liability.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/23/2026

While driving the car immediately downshifted and I could not accelerate. The hill assist came on and service advance trac came on. This happened 3 times. The first time we towed it to the dealership April 17th, and they changed the oil and tested the battery secured wires and verified after the repair on April 26th. After we picked the truck up on April 26th it stalled on the highway on the home and we had it towed again. They kept it for 4 days drove it 80 miles and said nothing was wrong no repair was done or needed. On may 13 it stalled again in front of train tracks. Luckly I was able to stop and start it quickly to drive it to a near dealership. We picked up the truck today, and it stalled again on the way home. We drove it back to the dealership today, may 23rd, hopefully they can figure it out. We are again without a car for a long period of time. We have paid $1,964. 10 in repairs that have not fixed the problem. The way the truck stops so suddenly is very dangerous as it happened once getting on the highway and once in front of a train track.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

My 2016 Ford F-150 is currently subject to recall 26s28 / NHTSA recall 26v237. Prior to the recall remedy becoming available, the vehicle began experiencing erratic transmission shifting and illuminated the check engine light, wrench symbol, and codes p0720 and p0722 were present. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership for diagnosis. The dealership documented that the vehicle was experiencing erratic shifting and was considered not drivable. The technician determined that the erratic shifting condition was related to dtcs p0720 and p0722 and recommended replacement of the transmission lead frame/conductor plate. The technician also noted the need for additional diagnostics involving the output speed sensor (oss) circuit within the transmission. The vehicle remains available for inspection at the dealership. This condition created a safety concern because the transmission was shifting erratically and the vehicle could not be relied upon for normal operation. Unpredictable transmission behavior creates a risk during acceleration, merging, highway travel, and other driving situations where consistent vehicle response is required. At the time, I was preparing for a cross-country military pcs move and did not believe the vehicle was safe or reliable to drive long distance. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership who documented the condition, diagnostic codes, and repair recommendation. The findings were provided to Ford motor company through corporate case number cxh-08096574-l9m6t4. Ford representatives advised that the automotive safety office was notified regarding the technician findings and the open recall. My concern is that the vehicle developed transmission-related symptoms involving p0720, p0722, erratic shifting, and a recommended lead frame/conductor plate replacement while subject to an active safety recall affecting related transmission systems. Ford has stated that the recall remedy is not available until July 2026.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

Contacted Ford about recalls 26s28 and 19v075 and they report that my vehicle is out of the warranty period for repair. They were advised that this is under a NHTSA recall and still refuse to honor the NHTSA safety recall stating that it is outside the window for replacement. Again advised them that this is a NHTSA recall and they still refuse to honor it. My vehicle is inoperable due to this.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/20/2026

Driving down a two lane road without any cruise control on the truck suddenly speeds up to almost 90mph with out pressing on throttle had hold brake down engine rpms were in the red shut truck off for it to finally go back to normal.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/19/2026

2016 Ford F-150 experiencing intermittent and dangerous transmission behavior consistent with the current Ford safety recall involving unexpected transmission downshifts on vehicles equipped with the 6r80 transmission. Vehicle previously required a full transmission replacement/rebuild in September 2025 after repeated violent downshifting and drivability problems. Diagnostic codes at that time included p0705, p0707, p1702, and p1921 involving transmission range sensor and intermittent transmission signal faults. Following the rebuild, intermittent drivability concerns continued. Over several months, vehicle would periodically not “sound right” during operation, although symptoms were difficult to duplicate consistently. Check engine light would intermittently illuminate after approximately one hour or more of continuous driving and later clear itself after vehicle cooled down overnight. Current symptoms have worsened and include unexpected downshifting, inability to manually shift using dash controls, skipped gears, delayed downshifts/upshifts, remaining in 3rd gear while slowing to a stop, and behavior consistent with being stuck in low gear while traveling above 50 mph with excessively high rpms. Vehicle intermittently appears unable to properly determine gear position. On may 19, 2026 I experienced uncontrollable downshifting and engine revving that resulted in an inability to safely operate the vehicle. Transmission behavior creates unsafe driving conditions and concern for loss of vehicle control during highway operation. Vehicle is now considered unsafe to operate and will be towed to a Ford dealership for evaluation related to the active safety recall.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/14/2026

About 30 mins prior to the incident, the accelaration was vey slow getting upto only 30/35mph message appeared in dash board instructing to schedule maitanance service soon. My last service was done only 2 months ago. Anyhow I decided to drive the nearest Ford dealer. On exiting the freeway, the ramp was downhill and the braking system completely failed and I crashed into the pavement. All the airbags came on. I have sternal contusion.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/12/2026

Hard downshift caused my truck to slow suddenly and became very hesitant where the vehicle behind me had to slam on their brakes. I then pulled over when it was safe, turned the truck off and then attempted to turn back on with no success due to the shift indicator no longer lighting up. This matches up with the current recall for this particular vehicle.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

1. Unexpected downshift into second gear while driving - like the engine is falling - causes severe jerk and sometimes truck revs/ goes into neutral - just revs. 2. Frozen tailgate latches and door latch defects 3. Additionally the transmission harsh shifting when cold (safety/drivability defect): when the vehicle is cold, the 10?speed transmission shifts harshly, hesitates, clunks, and delays engagement. This matches Ford’s transmission tsbs for calibration and adaptive learning issues. The dealership acknowledged the shifting issue but did not perform the required calibration or TSB procedures. The dealership refuses to document my reported symptoms or perform the TSB repairs unless the failure is happening in front of them. This prevents known defects from being repaired and leaves the vehicle in an unsafe condition. Ford customer service confirmed the shifting issue exists but the dealership still did not perform the calibration. Ford corp customer service didnt understand and manager didn’t even know what a TSB is:/ so no help at corporate. As chuck the manager stated he didn’t know what document I was referring to and I told him the number as well ? I contacted Ford customer service and a case was opened. A customer service manager named chuck returned my call. He stated that the TSB is “not a warranty” and that the dealership “has to duplicate the condition” before Ford will authorize the repair. I explained that the tailgate freezing issue cannot be duplicated on demand because it only occurs in cold overnight temperatures, not during daytime service hours. Despite this, Ford insisted the dealer must reproduce the failure, even though Ford’s own tsbs describe this exact cold?weather condition.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

My vehicle has abrupt unintended downshifts straight down to first gear at fast speeds, which is causing rear-wheel lockage near heart attack and near-loss of control spinout. The sudden downshifting causes a loud violent high extreme rpm engine over rev. Sounding as if it is about to blow up or an internal explosion. This is occurring at highway speeds up to 70 mph. At these speeds, is an immediate risk to me and others! causing a fatal high-speed rollover or a multi-vehicle collision due to this malfunction! this was a recall 19s07 for my year of truck but my VIN was somehow was not on the list which I guess makes me not qualified unless I get into a crash and then have a lawsuit.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/10/2026

My 2014 Ford F-150 is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the Ford transmission molded lead frame safety recall 24s37. While driving approximately 55 mph late at night on a five-lane roadway, the vehicle suddenly and violently jerked, downshifted and came to a complete stop becoming stalled out as I was approaching a major traffic intersection. The truck was disabled in traffic and would not restart for approximately 2-3 minutes, leaving me stranded in an active travel lane and at risk of being struck from behind by another vehicle at high speed. The vehicle has displayed transmission-related symptoms including inability to correctly indicate gear position, harsh shifting, unexpected downshifts into 1st gear while driving, transmission fault warnings, and check engine lights. Initially it was mostly dying while idling and we thought it was the common "fuse 27" issue, being unaware of the recall. Then the condition reproduced multiple times and symptoms worsened dramatically. Ford dealership inspected the vehicle. According to the technician's written report, the truck was found to be "having transmission problems, unable see what gear the truck is in and shifts to 1st gear while driving" and recommended replacement of the molded lead frame. The dealership confirmed transmission-related diagnostic trouble codes were present and documented symptoms consistent with lead frame failure. Despite the recommendation of the lead frame replacement and documenting symptoms consistent with the safety recall, the repair was not approved. The vehicle continues to experience symptoms associated with the recalled defect and is unsafe to drive away. Dealership confirms software update will not correct problem. I am submitting this complaint as the transmission defect poses a significant safety hazard to me, my children, and other drivers due to unexpected downshifts, loss of power, stalling, and the risk of becoming disabled in traffic. The truck remains available to inspect.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/09/2026

Our 2012 Ford F-150 truck had no issues and no dashboard lights when it randomly downshifted while driving and almost caused an accident. On sat, may 9, 2026, my husband pulled onto the road and got up to 40 mph when the speedometer stopped working and the truck randomly downshifted. The car behind us had to swerve to avoid a collision. On mon, may 11, 2026 we called the Ford garage they told us the customer service program (#19n01) is no longer valid as it is over 10 years now. The truck only has 128,000 miles and we were never notified of a csp when we purchased it in 2020. The Ford customer service representative said the csp was issued in 2019 but we purchased the vehicle in 2020 and were never notified of an issue. I now have a $1,500 repair bill for the leadframe that Ford will not reimburse us for and also see that they still have numerous transmission and speed control issues with their vehicles. I opened a case with Ford on may 14, 2026 [xxx] ) but their representative iomar was not helpful. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/08/2026

Took my 2017 Ford F-150 in for a diagnostic on may 8 2026 for wrench symbol check engine light and issues down shifting and sliding tires shop manager and technician claimed the vehicle is unsafe to drive and talked to the service manager deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive wanted it grounded do to the safety concerns related to recall 26s28 (pcm/trs) stated the down shifting is cause catastrophic failure to all mechanical components transmission engine and rear end kidding the tires especially in wet weather the truck would cause a accident. . Cause the sliding of the tires. . So my truck is at apple Ford of lynchburg grounded as of may 9 2026 I still owe on the truck and have no ride dealer nor manufacture was willing to pay for a rental that cost $65 a day wanted me to pay then reimburse me once a remedy was available I cant afford that. . 1600 a month we are roughly 2 months away from hopefully a remedy being available stated by recall website. . So if my truck is showing all the signs of the described in the recall(26s28) has stated in it why is Ford not putting a do not drive on the recall for all these trucks if the technician seems them unsafe. . I shouldn't have to pay for a rental I cant afford cause Ford is lacking a remedy and wont even buy it back cause of safety issues codes po732 inccorect 2nd gear ratio.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/05/2026

2 times now my truck went from 75mph in 10 th gear to 1 st gear on the highway. I then loose all throttle input. This is my day driver and some how avoided a fatal crash 2 times. I do not have a Ford dealer in my town I usually fix everything on my own. I know they have a recall and it's just a software patch. If so can you push it over the air to fix? or have a dealer swap out trucks and get it fixed. The trany had been shifting very poorly. I did a filter and oil change on it and was much needed. I also reset the tcm logic and that seamed to help but now I am scared to let anyone drive it.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/04/2026

I have had the 24s37 recall applied to my truck it was a software update, after the update it was ok for about a month then the problem became worse than it was before the software update. My truck is now downshifting and locking up the rear wheels and dose not shift sometimes and skips gears. This problem is getting worse everyday. I talked to the Ford dealership by my house and they told me I needed to buy a new transmission from them and there was no remedy for my problem other than the new transmission. I noticed the are recalling the 2015 trucks with the same transmission problem. Will my truck be added to the recall ? I have the same transmission.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

I contacted Ford about my molded lead frame because my truck has a issue with the transmission and they denied my coverage to repair the problem and it’s is expired so the won’t fix the issue.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/28/2026

On April 28, 2026 while driving at highway speeds the vehicle shifted into first gear nearly causing an accident. We have contacted the dealership and Ford motor company. Both are indicating a repair needs to be done in excess of $1300. Both the dealership and Ford are confirming this is the responsibility of the vehicle owner. There is a known defect related to the safe operating condition of this vehicle. A recall should happen and all repairs should be covered by Ford motor company. For this malfunction to happen can cause an accident harming people in the vehicle as well as other drivers on the road.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/21/2026

My wife was parking our f150 in a parking lot with landscaped dividers I was a passenger. The vehicle was in one foot driving mode. As she approached the curb going 1 to 3 mph, she moved her foot from the accelerator to the brake. As soon as she left the accelerator the vehicle rocketed off. She put her foot down on the brake, but the power of the vehicle was so great and so fast the vehicle went over the curb and a 4 inch landscaping tree. Luckily we were facing a drive on the other side and not a car. The vehicle stopped in the drive. The surge possibly lasted 1-2 seconds, but that was enough to lose complete control. If we were facing another car we would have landed on top of it. We were not injured and no pedestrians were in the vicinity. The body shop and the Ford dealership were unable to tell us what occurred. Ford needs to access the edr module. Online research shows this event has happened to other owners.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The vehicle has 57000 miles and I am reporting a commonly known issue with the transmission. Despite multiple service appointments with Ford explaining the issue, I was informed there was nothing wrong. Now, 10 months post extended warranty, Ford is telling me it needs a full transmission replacement. Thoroughout, the vehicle shifted eradically up and down, including on the interstate, quickly dropping speed. It was particularly bad a lower speeds when the engine was cool. Sometimes, at low speed or at a stoplight, the vehicle would disengage the drive train and roll in neutral while the rpms revved when the throttle was pressed. The vehicle was not operating safely, would roughly bounce around gears, when reported to Ford, told that there was nothing wrong and now being told post warranty that the transmission is a total fail that will require replacement. The latest service appointment one month ago, where I was again told that an oil topoff was all that was needed. This is a well reported safety issue by numerous owners and Ford has failed to take any action or initiate a recall.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/18/2026

I was on spencer street at the light about to cross on saint rose park way. When the light turned green my truck wouldn’t let me proceed and the it went into a low gear and make a lot of noise until I crossed and stoped at the horizon ridge light. At the light I turned off the truck like I have done every time this had happened after Ford said they did the recall but after they did the recall I’ve been having all these issues. I turned the vehicle back on and put into into drive and it went into reverse I immediately pressed my brakes knowing there is a car behind me. Thankfully the guy saw the truck with the hazards and going into reverse he immediately went into the next lane. I couldn’t move I was stalled. Had the shut the truck off again and then turn it back on and then I was able to go into drive and sit on the side of the road. Meanwhile I can smell like this burning smell. Now this had happened 2 days after they came out to supposedly fix the recall that was on the truck. I didn’t work the next day after they came out to fit it at my job but driving home that day it drove sort of ok I felt a little lack of going into gear. When I went to work it did a hard jerk while driving like if the transmission was going to fall out. I parked at work for my 10 hour shift and when I went to go home I turned on my truck and out it into drive and it went into reverse. Thankfully I was in park and no cars was behind me. I called Ford to tell them what had happened after they came and fix it and they told me it was not part of the recall. But yet when I looked up the recall when my insurance let me know if it people was saying they was having issues going into gears and possibly stalling. This is a serious matter and they keep brushing it off and telling me that I need to pay them to look at it. I don’t feel I need to pay if it is their mistake. I took it to my warranty company and they tried to fix it and found nothing on their end. At this point I gor into almost 5accident.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/14/2026

On my way home from a trip on Tuesday 4-14-26 at about 60 mph with cruise control on the truck downshifted and turned cruise control off and a small wrench came on display. I made my way to next town at reduced speed, wouldn't get out of 5th gear, found a Ford dealer had them scan and check out. They found 2 codes p061b:00-24- pcm and p0722:00-68 they cleared codes and drove truck with no return of trouble. I resumed my trip home and same thing happened about 1 hour later, stopped for fuel, and returned to the road with no problem or wrench on display. Came home went to my local transmission shop and he informed me that this was a known problem and warranty has been extended to 10years or 150k miles. Went to my local Ford dealer and they didn't know anything about extended warranty coverage.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

Bought that as used at low milage with good service history indicated with pcm twice made me believe to trust as reliability and regular check ups. Carfax is not really honest, as well as I learned that powertrain itself has nothing to mechanism but actually programing meaning actual pcm itself has troubleshoots and not at its stability. It caused no speed on dash board sometimes even though got served but aftermath it gets more worse. I experienced collapsed in middle of high speed traffic to full stop. But the odd that mpg got great better than only during trouble times like first time ever seen over 15 mpg that reached between 16. 4 to 18. 7 for over a week. Now backward to 14 mpg. On the trouble occurances were r080 downshift to first gear notch caused by faulty outpost shift speed loss sensor. Also code of 19s 07 needs reprogram the powertrain control module has been common and I don't believe wiring is the issue thus the sensor is but reprogram itself is factor although it caused various issue like noise installing from park notch to drive notch, cannot increase or stay constant stead on speed, sometimes caused vibration that had no equality the pcm does not make correct specific of the fault. I checked with auto zone to do diagnosis code on mine was much unspecfic and inaccurate fact in which was not fact thus the manufacturer fails to program the correct troubleshoots. Pcm is very bad. I had to stay under 65 mph either stay at 60 mph sometimes and if I increase the truck has been feeling alike unstead and maybe could get collapsed for a weeks far.

Truck downshifted to first gear from about 35 mph with no warning, and would not shift back, until it was shut off. I was in middle of road. No warning lights came on prior to this happening. The dealer confirmed a recall for this problem but my truck is a 2013 and recall currently is for 2014 forward. I never received a recall notice on my truck and the estimate to have it fixed is about $1700. Dealer said recall on my truck expired, in 2023. I am not safe driving this vehicle. 34 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

"my 2015 Ford F-150 is experiencing an intermittent, complete loss of the output shaft speed (oss) signal within the 6r80 transmission lead frame. While driving at speed, the speedometer suddenly drops to zero, the 'wrench' light illuminates, and the vehicle performs an unintended, harsh downshift into a lower gear (limp mode/3rd gear). This creates an immediate safety hazard of rear-wheel lockup or a sudden loss of acceleration in traffic. I took my vehicle to a local repair shop where they could not duplicate the fault. I then called my local Ford dealer who informed me unless it would duplicate the fault or show a code they could not repair the vehicle due to it being against warranty policy.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

Our 2025 Ford F-150 experienced a complete instrument cluster failure immediately following a manufacturer-initiated over-the-air software update. Component/system failure: the instrument cluster/display failed completely. The speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and all critical driving information are inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: this creates a serious safety hazard because the driver cannot monitor speed, fuel level, or warning indicators, increasing the risk of unsafe operation. Event details: after the update installed overnight, the dashboard display was nonfunctional upon startup. The vehicle was operating normally prior to the update, and the failure occurred immediately afterward with no other issues. Inspection/confirmation: the vehicle was taken to southwest Ford dealership, where the issue was confirmed. We were told it is an electrical problem requiring repair. The dealership also stated another vehicle there had the same issue following an update. Manufacturer response: the vehicle has approximately 46,000 miles and is out of warranty. We were quoted about $1,500 for repair. We opened a case with Ford motor company (case #cch-07666598-q6y1r3), but coverage was denied. Prior warnings: there were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. We believe this may indicate a defect in the software update system that could affect other vehicles and pose a broader safety risk. We request investigation and appropriate action.
