Lara ipma computer failure. Alert notice appeared on my truck display alon with an audible alarm indicating front camera malfunction, pre collision assist was not available. I contacted my Ford dealer(columbia TN Ford). To schedule repairs. They had to replace the ipma computer to fix the system. The cost of repairs ($2107. 91) was not covered by the vehicle warranty because of date. The truck has only 31606 miles on it. They service tech indicated the they have replaced many of these computers. I want to know how many of these safety items must be replaced before the NHTSA takes action to effect a recall?.
This vehicle would stop. I lost control hit the vechicle in front me that stop with no lights on.

Unknown which component is failing. It started with a rumble while accelerating or coasting but goes away when I shift into neutral so I believe that is the transmission. Other issues that are occurring randomly, speedometer will change indication to slower speed than I am actually going or it will drop to 0 while I am driving. Alerts and faults that have shown at the same time the speedometer goes out are: powertrain fault, abs, forward collision warning, parking collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, lane keeping assistance, cross traffic warning. Also a random metallic spinning noise coming from under the truck. It has been in the dealer garage 5 times now.

Normal brakes fail. Only the emergency brake functions and locks up one of the rear tires.
I get a warning message which indicates the the crash sensor is not working on my Ford truck - this component inflates the air bag in the event of a crash. The part number for the crash sensor is motorcraft 6l3z-14b004-aa. I attempted to purchase a replacement crash sensor from a local Ford dealer. I was told that Ford no longer makes this part. The parts manager suggested that I check with local aftermarket parts stores; advance auto parts, autozone, fisher and napa. Nobody makes an aftermarket crash sensor for my vehicle. I also searched amazon without success. I am therefore driving a vehicle with air bags which will not deploy - possibly causing a fatality. It seems like the manufacturer, Ford, should be required to sell replacement crash sensors until they become available as an aftermarket product.

Vehicle dashboard(cluster) and sync screen continuously goes out while vehicle is in motion. Preventing safe driving, seeing side and back of vehicle, other cars, etc electric truck systems stop functioning properly, mileage range drops dramatically in extreme temperatures. Frunk opens randomly.
On numerous occasions all of the vehicles electronics, including screens, would shut off. Sometimes this happens while driving at highway speeds causing the vehicle to lose all power. When approaching the car to unlock there is often no power to access the vehicle, which requires manually unlocking the vehicle with the key, opening the hood, then touching metal to the battery terminal to reset the electronics. The vehicle has lost power in the middle of intersections, on the highway, and in parking lots. There are times when the car signals a fault with several of the adas features. When this happens it’s usually probable that once the vehicle is shut off, I won’t be able to get it started again without touching metal to the battery terminal. I have started to document the failures through video to show to the technicians just in case the obd doesn’t match what I describe. The date I’m including is the most recent occurrence but does not reflect the many occurrences since purchasing the vehicle last spring.
Bought brand new truck in December 2023. Immediately the air/ac/heat would intermittingly malfunction resulting in inability to defrost windshield. This resulted in hindering the drivers visibility, automatic emergency braking, front camera visibility, and other safety features. If the ac/heat malfunctions at a time of need for defrosting/defogging the windshield, it will put anyone in the vicinity of the moving vehicle at risk. Truck was taken into the dealership during this malfunctioning period 3 different times over 2 or 3 months. The first time a service technician diagnosed a failed module, module was replaced but did not fix the issue. The second time, the service manager and shop supervisor diagnosed a failed temp senser inside the hvac system. Senser was reading below freezing levels, supervisor took a picture of the reading to show the electrical tech. This would cause the hvac system to give incorrect readings to other components. After further diagnosing from the dealerships master electrical tech during the second time, tech deemed it to need an update and recalibration. Update & recalibration was completed but did not fix the issue. During the third time, the Ford engineer, shop supervisor and master electrical tech inspected the truck and believed replacing hvac would fix issue. It is unknown if issues were diagnosed to be failing or if it a guess. Hvac has not been replaced due to no known acknowledgement from Ford into this issue. They will replace hvac with the exact same part. After discussing with other Ford owners, the same issue occurs in 2023 Ford expedition. Multiple videos were taking over this 2–3 month timeframe, before and after multiple attempts by dealership attempting to fix the issue. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance reps, or others. Warning lamps/messages displayed "front camera low visibility clean screen" during period of malfunctioning.
Automatic emergency braking system unavailable, front collision camera failure.

Well I will be driving and randomly it will pop up saying issues with pre collision fault and fault with power steering and suddenly loose power steering while driving.
I was driving in traffic on the 405 and the collision avoidance system activated and slammed on the brakes bringing the vehicle to a screeching halt on freeway. I was nearly rear ended. The vehicle displayed "front camera fault" and :collision avoidance no available" on the dash for a few minutes. No error codes were found in the computer. I also have "one pedal drive" faults that cause the vehicle to roll when I remove my foot from the accelerator. It should stop, but intermittently keeps going. This is the second Ford lightning I've had with that problem and many others. Ford bought the first one back under the CA lemin law. Galpin Ford has found no cause for the collision avoidance failure and no cause for the one pedal drive faults. Error codes are not being stored in the computer system. Fords answer was to try to give me the vehicle back without repairs because they say they can't replicate the problem. After the problems with the first truck I photograph all errors on dash. Despite my pictures they are unable to make repairs. I have applied to get this second lightning bough back under the CA lemon laws as well. I have found many other instances of owners reporting these same or similar problems in forums.
Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It’s not on a hill, it’s not just when towing my trailer, it’s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on I-5 near 210 in la. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have repeated failures with “collision warning system” and the Ford app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! the screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn’t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can’t even figure out what’s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! others have similar issues why is mine not recalled? this truck is very dangerous to drive and I don’t trust it. Problems began after we left TX around August 2023 and I was working and could not get it fixed - dealer could not meet Ford warranty to provide me a car/truck to use! and now I’m in north TX where Ford dealers have horrible reputations.
While driving vehicle displays "service advance trac", "pre collision assist not available", "hill assist not available" and the drive mode will not work. Brake lights are also on all the time as well. Dealership says the vehicles steering column needs to be replaced only 2 months after purchase. Dealer has diagnosed the issue but did not provide codes.
After work on my way home (clear weather), I was driving my 2020 f150 on the highway with adaptive cruise control (acc) engaged. Suddenly, I noticed that the acc system was not responding properly to the traffic ahead, and it was not maintaining a safe distance as it usually does. I attempted to disengage the system, but it failed to respond, leaving me unable to control the vehicle's speed manually. Upon investigating, I discovered that the front camera, which is a crucial component of the acc system, had failed. As a result, the pre-collision feature was also disabled, putting my safety and the safety of other road users at significant risk. Since the failure occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, there were no warning lamps or messages indicating the malfunction before it happened. The issue was not reproducible after the incident. In the meantime, for safety reasons, I have stopped using the acc system and continue to drive the vehicle with heightened caution. Further more, after a week upon starting my truck, I got "front camera malfunction" message, and my cruise control, pre-collision assist, and lane keeping assist are not functioning.
1. Issue number one parking brake engages on and applies the brakes while the vehicle is moving. I had this issue happened to me at least three times; luckily I was not going very fast when it happened. Additionally, parking brake light will come on at random times. (is not auto hold) 2. Multi-functions switch that controls turning signal gets stuck in the up or down position after engaging the switch to change lanes. When attempting to flip the turning signal to off the switch will get stuck and will only go back to off or neutral position after forcing the switch up or down. Additionally, when forcing the turning switch to the off position, it causes the high beams to turn on. 3. Pre-collision assist warning will come on at random times while driving. I have had this happen to me almost daily when I'm driving into work in the morning.
Brakes completely failed without warning or any indication that something was wrong. Lost brakes completely, and dash lit up saying abs fault, service advanced traction, hill start assist unavailable, pre collison assist not available. Luckily I was able to slow down by downshifting in m and throwing it into park before it even came to a stop. Had it towed to dealer and repaired. Dealer failed to give me documentation of what was replaced and/or repaired. Luckily I just exited the highway. I could have been seriously hurt or killed. As well as someone else could obviously had been killed or hurt. I live in colorado and 75% of my driving is down steep mountain grades. This could have ended catastrophically.

Issue #1. Forward collision sensors not working warnings keep appearing and flashing on dash. Vehicle has 12000 miles. 2. Hood popped open at speed of 90 mph without a warning or manual operation of lever. Hood was not opened during a 500 mile trip so operator error is ruled out. The safety latch was able to secured the hood temporarily. It was communicated to Ford motor CO under incident # cas#42214521. Phone number : 1-866 637 3788 x 79752.
On July 14, 2022, I took my f150 to Ford and it was determined that the 10 speed transmission was going to need to be replaced. I had 60,400 miles on it when it starts having major malfunction going on in the powertrain. At the time the transmission replacement was being done, it was Ford’s knowledge that the cam phasers were not functioning correctly. . Causing sudden jerk and knocking. . Cam phasers we’re not replace last year nor looked at, even though I told them that there was sudden jerks happening. It was under warranty at that time (last year). Ford also knew that reprogramming the trucks software, does not correct any of the problems that they are having. Now at 70,000 miles I’m going back in to, southwest Ford in hudson oaks, texas, to get these parts replaced as soon as they are available. They are requesting $700 (just like when the transmission was replaced). Which it is my opinion that the total amount should be covered-$1800.
We had a lady turn in front od us and we ran into her. Front-end of truck damaged and pushed back towards doors. No airbags deployed, no collision assist warning went off.
I was leaving the neighborhood and all of the sudden the forward collision warning went off for no reason, luckily the vehicle did not apply automatic brakes. I'm afraid if I was driving on the highway and the system went off for no apparent reason it could apply brakes and cause a crash. The electrical system is randomly setting off all kinds of error messages including random alarms in the middle of the night. The truck is less than a year old with only about 10k miles. . . The major concern is the forward collision warning that could potentially cause a crash.
On Dec 27, 2022 I was involved in a collision where my f150 would not come to a complete stop at an intersection / red light. I approached the vehicles at the light breaking to slow down but the truck drive gear did not disengage and I struck the vehicle in front of me at about 2-3mph and then proceeded to push the vehicle into the car in front of them all while I was fully applying the break (foot of the gas pedal). It was not until I put the truck in neutral and turned it off that it stopped pushing the other vehicles. I did not receive any warnings or notification lights on my truck prior or during the impact/pushing. It as if the f150 didn't see the vehicle in front of it and the auto drive system engaged as if it had a mind of its own. I have spoken to Ford corp regarding the issue and they have advised me to have the vehicle inspected but my local Ford dealers are refusing to run a diagnosis on the vehicle prior to having it repaired thus causing an impasse all while I'm very nervous driving this truck out of fear of it happening again.
Forward collision warning (pre collision assist not available) message comes on while driving with no vehicles in front, driving under normal conditions. Cross traffic system rear - not detecting vehicles, intermittent. Reported to dealer, no faults or issues were found. Since being at the dealer, the 2 issues continue intermittently. We have the "Ford pass" app which records any/all alerts, I cannot download them at this time.
Every time I start my vehicle 2 error messages appear on the instrument cluster saying crash dectection camera has malfunction and that crash detection has been disabled. Ford dealership says they can’t fix it and that I am stuck with it like that. They have tried blaming it on safelite for replacing the windshield with a lower quality windshield.
Multiple warning lights came on while going 55mph down a straight road. Warning lights consisted of antilock break system fault, pre-collision assist not available, and hill start assist warning. I did not have and breaks at all.
When accelerating the transmission will grind in neutral. Let of gas and will finally shift in gear. Happened 2 years ago when I bought it new. Now 3 times in the last 2 months. Ford dealers where I live don't have transmission mechanics. Shifts all over the place and has metal rattling noise. Unsafe to drive with just lest then 30k miles.
There is an existing recall for 2020 Ford f150's nhta 25v442 Ford 25s72. Pertaining to the sync 3 malfunctioning as Ford put it "Ford says that an error in the sync infotainment system could cause a blank image to be displayed while reversing, or the rear-view image may remain on display even after a driver has stopped reversing. " my vehicle is and has been doing this for a very long time. Sa. E problem. However, my vehicle VIN is not included in the recall. Will it be added at a later date?.
I have had problems with the truck since I purchased it. The first week I had it went a trip with my daughter to oregon. As we were headed back to montana my crash assist starting going off and there was no other cars or objects around. I took it to helena, Ford when I got back. The cameras are constantly going out and the crash assist has been failing. My truck will be back in the shop after it gets out of the shop in missoula, mt. It will be back at helena Ford for another camera that has gone out which isn’t allowing me to parallel park and may be affecting the crash assist again. My truck is in the shop constantly for the transmission or cameras. I have been constantly telling them my truck is shifting hard. It’s also been having brake problems which they can’t figure out. The brakes have been making a horrible loud sound. I have had transmission problems since I have purchased this. It has been shifting hard and I’ve taken it in for this again and again. They did something each time to the transmission. They also did a recall fix on it. It still continued to shift hard. All information is at helena Ford, helena mt. I had a tow system installed on my truck to tow behind my motor home. I had the system installed by a professional at speciality iron works in great falls, mt. I had them hook it up to my motorhome and we went through the whole set up according to Fords manual to put it in tow mode to tow behind the motorhome. It said tow mode enabled. When I got to my destination that day it had messed up my transmission and they( Ford lithia, missoula, mt) are saying tow mode was not enabled. Before even looking at my truck they said to be prepared to pay out of pocket because Ford has not been doing anything about these situations. I have a witness that it was in tow mode. He is the manager at the shop that installed my tow system gary adams 4064523672. Ford said they couldn’t accept him as a witness because he doesn’t work at a Ford dealership.
I was driving vehicle to work. Going approximately 70 mph, the truck suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and starts running very rough, like it lost a cylinder. Then the collision warning comes on the dash and advanced trac icon and then the manual icon with the wrench that says check manual. I coast down the hill from the far left lane to the slow lane and take the first exit off the freeway and pull to the side of road. Shut the vehicle off, wait 30 seconds, try again starts right up and acts like no problem. Happened three times since. Same thing every time.

Warning light comes on intermittently . Took to Ford dealer and was told aftermarket bug deflecter was causing the issue. My CO worker has the same exact vehicle without deflector and has the same problem. My vehicle has only 22000 miles and this has being an ongoing issue from since 2019. They will not honor their warranty and was told to take it back to the Ford dealer I bought it from. This is a safety issue because it startles you when it goes off and you are nowhere close to a vehicle.
2021 f150 XLT powerboost (4x4, 9420 miles). Brakes failed while at a complete stop and truck propelled forward despite brake pedal being being pressed down. I was in a fast food drive through at a complete stop with my foot on the brake pedal and the instrument cluster went crazy, warning lights flashing, malfunction messages for what seemed like everything (believe pre-collision, abs, traction, hill, and some others- cant recall for sure), warning chimes sounding non stop, the brake pedal dropped towards the floor board, and truck started moving forward despite pressing pedal as far down as I could; this all happened almost instantly. Pumped breaks (not sure if it did anything) but I barley stopped in time from hitting the car in front of me, and I left a far amount of room between us initially. After this, when limping the truck through the drive through (was stuck in the line at this point), it took about 10ft to stop from a 1-2mph roll. After clearing the drive through line, I was limping the truck to open area of parking lot and the truck randomly bucked (like bump starting a manual) and all the instrument cluster warnings disappeared and brake pedal pressure and braking performance returned. Just as how the issue instantly occurred, it also disappeared instantly. Despite all the warnings on the cluster, only abs fault and pre-collision show on the Fordpass app. Prior to to this, there were no issues. The vehicle has yet to be inspected by Ford as the service department is booked out for bit. Vehicle has since been parked as I am fearful a 6k lb vehicle without brakes can end with loss of life. Interesting enough, Ford does not seem to share this concern as their roadside assistance dept says the truck does not have towing coverage while their customer care team says it does but they can't work with each other and end result is I had to prepay $273. 06 to Ford roadside assistance for the tow to the future service appointment, and maybe Ford might reimburse it.
Driving down a steep mountain road when a passing vehicle tripped the pre collision alarm while vehicle was being braked. The abs, traction control, brake, and just about all other visual alarms went off and the vehicle lost the brakes. The emergency brake would come on and lock up the rear tires then release rendering the vehicle unable to stop going down the steep road. Vehicle came close to crashing into other vehicles multiple times while trying to come to a stop. Vehicle was brought to a Ford dealership where the issue was verified. Dealer noted no recalls or TSB's on this vehicle. Dealer cleared the faults and test drove the vehicle and said the issue is now gone. Vehicle was in the process of being driven home when another vehicle in front slowed and tripped the pre collision sensor again and again all alarms came on and the brakes were lost. The vehicle in front was almost collided with. Contacted Ford customer service to report the issue. Ford cs said to tow the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership and call back to open a case file. Vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership awaiting service.
