Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of Ford F-150 - part 1

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the windshield wiper wiring was faulty, which caused the wipers to grind when in use. The vehicle was taken to opelika Ford (801 columbus pkwy, opelika, al 36801) where it was diagnosed that the wires in the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced because an electrical failure could occur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000.

2000 Ford F-150. Consumer states wheel rims started to rust out in one year the consumer also stated the bumper rusted out in one year, and the abs light illuminated. The brakes were inspected several times, but no problem was found. The high beams would not come on, the plastic on the outside rearview mirror fell off, the dome light in the cab wouldn't come on, and the tailgate wouldn't close, the windshield wiper washer, wipers and heating system did not work. The power steering pump leaked all the time, the gear shifter wouldn't go into park. The fuel strap failed three years ago and caused the fuel tank to fall to the ground.

Upon entering and starting the truck the windshield wipers did not work at all in 4 separate cases, the 5th occurrence the drivers side wiper worked but not the passenger side. Obviously I only use the wipers in bad weather so when I need them most for safety the windshield wipers have not functioned. I have returned the truck to the dealership for repair each time and have contacted Ford customer service case # 1496470901, I feel this is a huge safety issue and needs further attention as I now have no confidence at all in this vehicle.

While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wipers would come on and go off intermittently. The dealer was aware of the intermittent problem. The mechanic informed the driver that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. Please fill in additional information.

Driver's windshield wiper leaves 6" blind spot uncleared/unwiped in line of sight along driver's windshield pillar. Almost hit pedestrian as a result of not being able to see. Also pulled out at intersection in front of another car because unable to see. Dealer can not fix because the wiper is "keyed" to that position only. Ford has been unwilling to resolve issue. Other owners complaining of safety hazard too.

The windshield wipers activate (turn-on) unexpectedly when driving and switch is in the off position. Dealership says the control module is "defective" but will not warranty the repair since there is no recall. It is a definite safety issue as the distraction could arise at anytime while driving. Windshield wipers activate themselves for no apparent reason. This is distracting to the driver and could be a potential hazard.

On several occasions, when using my right turn signal with the windshield wipers running, the windshield washer fluid comes on and stays on causing a blinding turn. The dealer could not make it fail during service, however it has happened at least five times.

Consumer states the wipers work intermittently in bad weather conditions. The problem has progressed for over 9 months. Dealer contacted. Please provide more information.

Estimate for repairs is $682. 47 from which dealer offered Fords portion (65%). I declined and stated that Fords should cover 100% of costs since these are not normal wear and tear items. No safety defect listed.

While traveling at approximately 40 mph in rain, windshield wipers failed to operate. This was causing a loss of visibility. Dealership has not examined vehicle. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Electronic module causes windshield wipers to operate in the off mode without being turned on. Causes repeated scraping and scoring of dry windshield and distraction to driver.

Windshield wipers come on randomly and has become more frequent. Also, the wiper fluid is projected onto windshield by itself. Latest incident of this severely affected by vision of the roadway and traffic during heavy rush hour interstate traffic. From what I have been able to see on some of the internet new groups this is a not uncommon problem with Ford trucks.

While making a turn windshield wipers will come on and washer fluid sprays all over the windshield when it is not raining. This is unsafe on a curvy road. On a raining day and making a turn, windshield wipers will stop.

Windshield wipers just arbitrarily coming on. It's been a problem ever since we bought our 1999 f150 but was much more sporadic than it is now. Now it just seems like the wipers have a mind of their own and keep coming on. It is getting quite annoying.

Windshield wiper. F150 was taken in for service for faulty wipers on Jun 8,01. The problem turned out to be a computer part called a gem or assembly module. Ford has had the vehicle for more than one month. I am told that the part is simply unavailable. I wondered if the part has gone bad so often that the part is in high demand. This affair is open ended, as the avis dealership in southfield, mi (2483557500dennis) can not even say from where the part may be shipped. There seems to be no source for the part. They don't know when it might arrive. No part, no repair. When asked if I could pick up the truck to drive it in the meantime, I was told it is "undrivable. " is there going to be a recall on this part? part #f75z14b205la. Door crack. Both doors have a 1/4" crack near the back edge of the window. Truck is out of warranty. Leaking rear window. It was repaired by dealership while truck was under warranty.

Windshield wiper motor replacement ($260. 07 to dealer)did not solve problem; returned to dealer 12/9/99-response; unable to duplicate problem-.

On several occasions windshield wipers will commence operating without any action by the driver.

The winshield wipers will come on intermittently even when off. Also, the last time it happened (I have a witness), the washer was also continously spraying fluid even though everything was off.

Windshield wiper/washer would operate intermittently while in off mode, causing poor visibility which could lead to a vehicle collision . Nhtsa needs to look into this matter.

Vehicle been experiencing ongoing / intermittent problem with windshield washer working improperly. Dealer/mfr. Was not notified at this time.

I recently saw were the NHTSA was looking at Ford's windsheild wiper control as a possible problem for the explorer & another vehicle. I can vouch that the f150 also needs to be looked at. My 1997 f150's turn signal/windsheild wiper control will come on at any time & after using it will stay on.

Loose nut on driers side wiper arm caused wipers to fail during heavy rain.

Windshield wipers and washers comes on by themselves. Manufacturer/ dealer stated not common to have a short in system. Problem has not been corrected.

Windshield wipers - intermittent wipers erratic or not active. Unable to use washer fluid. Replacement part has same problem as orginal equipment.

Winshield wipers rarely work on intermittent setting and if they do they are not consistant in timing. About 30% of the time the wippers will not come on at all. Washers work only 20-25% of the time.

Windshield wiper comes on by itself while driving.
