Seven problems related to horn assembly have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The horn has not been working for almost 2 years, I've contacted Ford many times where I purchased the truck. They said I would have to pay if I want it fixed. On your web-site, (NHTSA) many complaints already about this issue, its a safty issue. Because when you try to use the horn it seems as the airbag is in the way.
Clock spring failed . As a result, horn and cruise control become inoperable.
Horn cannot be activated quickly or repeatedly because only a very small spot in the airbag/steering pad is live. Finding the small, unmarked spot is impossible under emergency conditions and difficult at any time. Dealers know it's a problem but have no fix. Common to all super duty with airbag.
Hole was blown through top and side of block with no previous symptoms.
Horn and the air bag are in the same place. When trying to use the horn, the consumer almost had an accident due to looking down on the steering wheel to apply the horn.
Horn experiencing intermittent problem with operating in normal weather conditions, and not operating at all in cold weather conditions. Also, excessive oils useages, missing a quart within every thousand miles. Dealer notified, and informed consume rthat horn problem could not not be corrected, and oils useages was normal for that vehicle.
Pad within horn assembly becomes so hard in cold weather that horn becomes inoperable. The horn assembly was replaced, but there was no difference can't blow horn.
